I read a report about some faulty code (something about a camera daemon) that was keeping the camera in memory after it was no longer needed in KitKat builds....apparently Google's working on a fix...
This could be it. Or maybe your problem is different...if you're rooted, you can try wiping cache, dalvik, and battery stats....

are you on Wifi ? Saw your wifi always ON, but no wifi icon on your status bar.
if you are not on wifi, but your wifi always on, try to off "always scan" in the advanced wifi setting.
Other than that, you can try to off your google location. go to account, google, location. OFF it.
if still not work, since you are on stock non rooted, try to do factory reset, go to recovery (vol up + home + power), and do wipe from there.

You can still backup your data and try a factory reset...

I think the problem wasn't from the root because i rooted the phone after upgrading to froyo and this was from a month ago, but this problem suddenly happened after i restarted the phone yesterday.
I flashed the new 2.2.1 firmware and the problem solved
but now vibration doesn't work
and it doesn't have arabic lang. so i can't read anything written in arabic.
I think i will flash 2.2 back again, but the new firmware is very fast and everything runs so smooth, no need to lagfix.
I know the answer! The battery icon mod with the percentage is not correct for your firmware.
It happened to me before when I tried to put the jpo battery mod on the official italian jp5 fw and also if I try to mod the battery icon of the latest jpu.
It's a problem due to messing up the framework-res.apk file.
So, revert back the battery mod to the original icon and everything will work again.

Home Button Error and no LockScreen

My Galaxy Tab has been running fine on Kang ICS milestone 4 for quite a few days, then I saw this thread here and decided to install other tablets' widget to my galaxy 10.1
And my tab crashed. It freezed for a while and automatically restarted, and every time when I unlocked it, it freezed, crashed and restarted again, and the same thing happened again and again, I just couldn't unlock my galaxy tab. So I had to re-install Kang Rom. Yes, I did wipe my datsa and caches, I did wipe dalvik cache before I installed the Rom. Everything works fine now, except for the home button. Nothing happen when I tap it. And there is no lock screen either, it goes direct to the launcher.
So, can some body please tell me how to fix it. Any help would be much appreciated.

I've done it several times . I've tried to wipe anything I could. Data, cache, Dalvik data (no idea what it is thouh) and the home button still does not work
Btw, may I ask what did you do to cause this error to happen?
I've just re-flash rom one more time and it still doesnt work.
One more thing, after re-flashing I go to Settings, Apps and see this:

Despite the fact that I've wiped and formated everything I could in recovery mode, there are still traces of old apps left. I wonder why. Does it have anything to do with the dalvik cache? Someone please help. I'm so desperate now.
I reckon you'll just need to start from fresh, flash a stock ROM via Odin and start again.

[Q] Wifi not switching on

Hi All,
Problem: Wifi is not switching on my Galaxy S4 (I9505). It's been grayed out and I'm unable to switch it on.
Actions taken: I've been researching and trying to resolve this problem non stop for nearly 24 hours. I've done the following:
- Upgraded my stock to CyanogenMod 11 since I (naively) thought it would rectify the wifi problem. (cm-11-20141008-SNAPSHOT-M11-jflte)
- Updated my modem to the latest one I could find (I9505XXUGNG2_MODEM)
- Installed the wifi fix (I9505XXUGNG8_WIFI_FIX)
- Tried a bunch of other suggestion (e.g. using sqlite to change some setting values.)
No sure what more I can do, and I'm starting to think it might be a hardware problem?
Are there any more suggestions? Or is there any way to debug it and find out if it's an hardware problem?
Appreciate any help I could get , coz this is driving me crazy!

Try downloading the latest version of your firmware on sammobile.
If it doesn't work, try installing a custom ROM, like "Imperium ROM". It should "repair" the issue.
"Imperium ROM" replaces the kernel (It should also fix this)
Thanks, will give Imperium ROM a try but doesn't Cyanogenmod also replace the kernel?
OK, I tried downloading the latest firmware - No Help
Also tried installing new kernel over the cyanogenmod kernel
- Tried Ktoon but it broke a few more things such as basic connectivity and did not help with the wifi issue (i.e. KT-SGS4-KK4.4-AOSP-INTL-07.12.2014)
- Currently running Alucard but the wifi issue still persist (i.e. Kernel-Alucard-V1.4ocm-[00-22]-[09-11]-AOSPV2-EUR-KK4.4-SGIV-PWR-CORE)
Haven't had a chance to try a Imperium ROM, since I needed my phone and didn't have sufficient time to wipe and reinstall all data and apps. Any other suggestions before flashing a completely new rom?
Revert to stock.
Flash stock rom twice
First time, let odin auto reboot and you configure your phone. Then go to download mode again
Second time flashing, uncheck auto reboot. Keep phone off for 5-10 minutes after flashing and then turn on.

I9505 Wi-Fi battery drain on every CM/AOSP based 5.0/5.1/6.0

Hey guys! A few weeks ago i've got a used galaxy S4 i9505 (it was always on stock rom.). I wanted to get rid of touchwiz, so i started to explore the forums, and tried as many custom roms as I can, but all of them has the same issue. Every rom I flashed (CM12.1/13, JDCT Optimized CM roms, Octo-M, SlimLP, MoKee AOSP, Dirty Unicorn, JDCT AOSP, Orion, GPE 5.0/5.1) suffers from battery drain because of the wi-fi. Here is a screenshot what i'm talking about.

}
Even after i turn on the airplane mode, the battery still draining, and the wi-fi is still "active".
I have no problem with the TW based rom (Stock/Imperium), so I don't think it is a hardware related issue.
Here is what i did before the screenshot.
-I was on the latest stock rom (HOL2)
-Flashed the lastest modem (just to be sure)
-Flashed TWRP 2.8.7.2 F2FS
-Did a full wipe (Dalvik/Cache/Data/Storage/Preload/System)
-Changed the cache and data to F2FS
-Flashed Optimized CM12.1
-Wipe Dalvik/Cache
-Flashed OpenGapps 5.1 Pico
-Wipe Dalvik/Cache
-Reboot, connected to my wi-fi, logged in to my google account
-Advanced wi-fi settings-> turned off always scanning, and set the Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep to Never.
-Turned off NFC
-Set mobile data to 2G
-Put my phone on the table and cheked it a few hours later
The result is up there, i didn't installed any mods (no xposed, no kernel, nothing), neither any app from playstore, and i did the same as above with every rom i tried (with the same result)
Please someone tell me, what am i doing wrong? Why is my phone won't go to deep sleep, even though i'm not using any 3rd party app. If someone need logcat or anything just let me know, i would do anything.
(Sorry for the grammatical errors, english is not my native language).
I had the same problem on CM 12.1 on my i9500.An app called power nap helped to fix the issue along with greenify(although i'm not too sure that greenify helped with the Wi-Fi issue or not).

Wifi not turning on after unlocking

I was running 7.1.1 when i unlocked my Nexus 6P.
After it wiped and rebooted, i could not see any wifi networks.
I went to sleep and wifi appeared to work in the morning but stopped again and i could not see any wifi networks around me.
i left beta program and went back to 7.0 (NBD90X), wiped and rebooted. same problem. but wifi did appear at one point but stopped again.
when look at the settings. it says wifi disabled. i click on the wifi settings, it just hangs at "Turning wi-fi on...)".
i have since, loaded TWRP and rooted. same effect on wifi.
any suggestions?

Maybe you can try this way : settings - location - scanning(Upper right corner) - turn off wifi scanning.
My English is not good, but I am willing to be patient to help you.
thank you for your help. turning off scanning did not have an immediate effect.
again this morning, it was working but stopped a short time ago. when i try to turn WiFi on, it feels like it is just hanging and can't start fully.

i completely removed root and locked the phone and still no ability to see WiFi at all.
Dont know if this will help you, but I was having the same problem with my tablet. I flashed everything back to stock and then rooted, flashed latest TWRP , and ROM and the problem was resolved.
I ended up just claiming a warranty on it after it wouldn't work with stock ROM and updates.
Thanks!
