How many battery cycles needed - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Since I bought my phone I havnt had a battery cycle. I think it means I need to drain and charge it to full.
Battery life seems to be decreasing so my question it how many battery cycles are required and they all should be one after the other?
Edit: I'm very sorry I should have posted it in q&a. Mods please move this thread.

You need to do 1400 full cycles while upside down and riding a unicycle or your battery will never perform at full. You might get 97.333333recurring percent but never 100 percent.
Or you can just use it normally and not worry since it makes no difference under normal circumstances

Your using a smart phone not using ordinary T-mobile...
Since this issue is common for all the mobile phones.. In Ordinary mobiles Battery is represented in Bars. Its shows full even it has 90%.
In our smart phones we are using true battery values hence for the fact even it shows the exact one we r not able to compromise this one..
So please understood the reality and its boom for using smart phones. Hope it help you to understand.. IF means Press Thanks

It depends what you are doing.
Download better battery stats (from xda) or wake lock detector from the play store to see of you have an app that is draining the battery

If the phone is just idle than no, I lose around 4% over 8 hrs when the phone is idle if that's any help. I also try to clear out the active apps via clear memory as this seems to be the only true way to stop a active app.

that's not normal unless you have your screen on for the majority of that time. I usually get 16 hours of battery life with 3.5 - 4 hours of screen time each day. I have wifi, bluetooth, and all gestures on with screen brightness at max. This suits my needs.
2- 3 % a hour on sleep.about 10% which screen on.
2-3% over 8 hours idle
Any phone with a 5 inch screen using LTE ain't gonna last.. I don't care what you try doing to it. Go on ebay and pick up a few extra batteries and chargers. It's was easier and you don't have to worry about battery drain as much

Note 3 Battery Problem

I have a galaxy note 3 N9005 and the battery life is not what it should be. I've owned this phone for about 5 days. I always have power saving mode on with all the smart and air features disabled. I charged my device to 100%. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks
Wow, that's some horrible battery life. I'm not seeing anything like that on my device though.
Did you condition the battery probably?
And of over 3 hour screen on time.
My advice: try to recondition your battery
As in, let it die, recharge to full from wall outlet. Do that about 3 to 5 times. Don't force it to die just use it normally so the battery will discharge power properly this will causes it to hold more charge.
If you do that and the battery still doesn't hold charge then your battery is good as dead.

Wow you get amazing battery life! Thanks for your help
Is your screen brightness set to 100%? And was what you're doing over excessively white? Because that might account for some of it.
Did you unplug it last at 100% battery, or somewhere halfway? Because from the look of that table, you unplugged it around 50%...

You have defective battery plain and simple. All this talk of calibration is for birds. This lithium batteries don't need that.

its getting better since last Thursday since i got it but its still not 1 day.
it used to be 5 hours from 100% to 20% brightness in auto
Do we have to "train" the battery to achieve max capacity?
is it battery defect or phone?

Note 3 Charged from 10% to 100% in LESS than 1 hour!

You must have a magical charger. Mine charges in about 2 hours with the stock charger at 1800 mah rate (max stock rate).

Mine charges faster than my Note 2 but not that fast. In general I am happy with the improvements seen.
It's strange that yours charges so fast? Most of the stuff I've read so far for charging with the stock N3 wall charger is that they're charging at around 35%/hr
How's yours doing so fast??
Sent from my SM-N900W8 using xda premium
1 to 100 took me 2hrs and 15 minutes charging time.. but after 10 minutes idle of the phone, the battery went down to 98percent and stop there
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I would have to say this is defiantly a understated feature of this phone! I mean it charges soooo much faster than the N2 did! Faster than any phone I have ever had! Amazing!
I have the same experience as the OP.. The phone charges pretty fast if your using the stock charger and cable

Mines charges under an hour from 10% down to fully charged especially if you don't use the phone while it's charging and even then my phone does the job. I'm pretty sure it varies phone to phone so take this with a grain of salt.

Can the note 3 battery be used in the note 2 and i717
i'm asking because i tried the s3 into my note an it worked perfectly I was wondering if I can buy an oem battery an for the note 3 an put it in my note 1
its possible
I have the same experience as OP. We need some hard data on this. What's the best app for monitoring charging? I use system monitor. I love the battery graph in my pull down menu. I'll post a screen shot from a full charge whenever I get a chance. (I have 87% now so it'll be awhile unless I find something good to download on thepiratebay)

Weird, I thought it was the same for everyone. Mines the same, phones on but with no use it charges to full battery under an hour when it's on red. I work at best buy mobile and customers have told me the same.

You can try looking at your battery to see whether it had any lump or swelling. Mine had one and it was so slight and hard to see but after replacing the battery, battery life was great again.

the thing is also that you are using a Exynos device with Octa Core Processor. i dont know the difference between battery life by that since i have the qualcomm based phone. it may use a lot more power i think (correct me if im wrong because i never used a octa core phone). i do have a extra battery as well so that im full charged for the whole day. so i dont really need to worry about battery for my daily usage. and the phone and battery were purchased last year when the phone got released here in the philippines. :good:

Hi mate,
The only way to know for sure what is going on your phone is to use an app like BBS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
Let it run for a few hours and check the logs for wakelocks , works better if you are root but it will work also in nonroot devices

Try changing your battery. Or flash a different rom with a different baseband.

My guess is that your battery is wearing out and you should try a new one.
