I tried to install Philz touch on top of cwm. Now I cannot go into recovery. It says boot verication error when I try to reboot to recovery from rom manager - and gets stuck with a blank screen - I can however reboot to normal. If I try to go into recovery by pressing vil down and power I get a message whether I want to delete
If I try to go into recovery from vol down and power it asks me for a factory hard reset. How do I install a recovery again - and in the end Philz touch?
I have tried to search, but what I get to is a scenario where the device acts as bricked, and this is obviously not the case.
What is my best next step?

I'm about to flash Philz but I already have TWRP installed do I have to remove TWRP. If so I was wondering how to remove twrp and then install Philz. Tried searching but can't find anything. I know the OP mentioned he flashed over CWM but I was under the impression that you could always just flash a recovery over another.

Try using FreeGee to install TWRP then download the latest Philz and then open FreeGee, hit menu key, update loki patch, choose Philz, apply patch. Then flash patched Philz with TWRP. You could also install an older Philz then turn off Loki check to flash the new one.

You don't have to delete anything but read my instructions above on how to get Philz working.
Thank you. I'm just making sure about something. Currently Philz is better then twrp for some variants of G2 that aren't up to date with twrp correct? Also I can just install Philz like any other Rom from twrp, as long as its loki'd?

Philz is the recovery most compatible with the newer 4.4 stock and GPro2 roms with the patched kernel and is a solid, full-featured recovery in general. If you are going to install a certain rom or mod it may tell you to use a certain recovery in the instructions, so I have a copy of each on my phone. And yes, once you patch Philz you can flash like any other zip.

thank you so much!. FreeGee did the trick. I could not install TWRP, but I got my old CWM back, and from there I could install 1.15 Philz. However, the same happens when I try to install the newest Philz from there, so I had to to it all again with FreGee - which however works like a charm. I will check Philz thread about this - unless one of you have a quick trick

You can install the older Philz, then turn off loki check and flash the newest.
Or you can download the newest, open Freegee, hit menu button, update loki patch, choose Philz. Then the newest Philz is ready to flash and patched if you need it again.

Are you on d802? What recovery are you on now?
yes i´m on d802, atm i could manage to install the phillz recovery6.0.4.5 by desabling the loki verification on CWM that i can install on freegee, i´m going to try to install the latest phillz, but i´m afraid that without the loki verification it fails and gives problems wille isntaling roms and stuff...
edit:
it dosen´t work it sais it flashes ok, but then it never boots again to recovery, it gives an error about aboot, and goes to black screen and on pc it opens loooots of drives withou anything on it... :S
---------- Post added at 05:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:55 PM ----------
the problem is with newer versions of phillz and someting that happend with my phone.
i can install CWM 6.0.4.6 and the on CWM i disable loki verification and a i can install philz_touch_6.07.6, but if i do the same and install philz_touch_6.19.7 it wont work, it gives the error and wont go into recovery anymore, i have to go back to freegee and instal cwm again
i`m flashing the origina KDZ often so i make sure that the error ist not there...
the wirdest thing is that before i updated to kk i had phillz working perfectlym then i went to stock, instaled kk portugal open 16gb and the never could install phillz again any other recovery be that CWM ou touch recovery works ok...
Yep, I thing the newest Philz is bugged cause I got the verification error as the OP said. I just used freegee, installed twrp 2.6.3.3 and now I'm safe. Gonna try to install a different date of philz.

I am now a happy CloudyStock user
What in the end worked for me was Fregee to reinstall CWM to get a working recovery, from CWM install an older Philz Touch - 1.19.3, turned off Loki check and from there 1.19.7 could be installed. But I think that it is nice to know the different options. If I had seen the link above it would probably have been easier. Thank you to everybody for the engagement, I hope it helped others as well.

Thank you.
flash this twrp 2.5.0.3 zip in recovery and then reboot recovery. see if it sticks. if it does, stay on that version. i've heard it works better than the newer releases. cheers

You can't use that to do it. You have to take that zip file that beerdroid posted and save it to your sd card. Save it in the root so it's easy to find. You have to boot into Philz and flash that zip.
I don't ever recommend the Goo Manager. There has been so many people that has had problems with it, especially after flashing a new ROM. It's not because it's a bad program, it's because sometimes when you flash a new ROM the prop changes so it tricks Goo Manager.

I'm experiencing the same thing. TWRP wasn't able to load the Cyanogenmod SNAPSHOT, but Philz did and I don't have WiFi just like when I loaded the unstable version so I'm trying to delete Philz and it won't go away. Why did my TWRP disappear? arghhh...... I wish I had a Nexus 5.

hey guys plizz help me,im using the philz touch recovery on my Micromax a120 for a decent long time, last night i go to the Advanced option then to the GUI preferences, then Change Background option since i never bother to go there before, and in the background change options,im not very sure, but i think it was the Reset Koush Background option that i've selected, and now whenever i go into recovery the screen doesn't show me any option but a complete pink-ish screen, how do i reset my settings now,can anyone give me some suggestions
Hey all, trying to flash CM10.2 on my G2 and I'm not able to boot into a custom recovery. Here's how I did everything.
Rooted - all was successful as far as I can tell. Was able to install Titanium backup and backup files and allow root.
I downloaded ROM Manager and installed CWM. When I went to boot into recovery, i get the error with the Android a red triangle exclamation point above him. So I tried to switch to TWRP through Rom manager, no luck. I tried to 'flash' TWRP through the command prompt and download of the recovery file, no luck.
I saw somewhere to download SuperSU, so I did that and tried again, and same issues. When I 'cleaned' SuperSU, uninstalled and reinstalled it but this time chose 'use custom recovery' - it tied to reboot into recovery, saw a standing up right android with a spinning icon, but then went to the same error.
Obviously I'm missing something somewhere. Can't figure out what.
Thanks for any help!
Don't use rom manager. Either use adb and push the recovery or use the app flashify to install the recovery. There are many threads ids the development sections on how to install recoveries

Thanks, Is there a way to undo what I've done from rom manager? Because I used adb to push the recovery and still had the same issue, and using flashify to flash the image doesn't seem to work. Booting into recovery just gets me to stock recovery asking 'do you want to factory wipe your device'
Edit: When I boot to recovery from within flashify, it gives a 'boot certification error' upon booting

Are you using a recovery that has been Loki'd. The G2 needs this to by pass the bootloader. By that error it does not seem you used the correct recovery file.

I used the one from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449670 - 2.6.3.3 and just flashed it with flashify most recently. But I was having the same issue when I installed it via adb and 'option 1' as shown there.
Yeah, when flashing that recovery image using option 1, I still get "secure booting error - boot certification verify" after I reboot into recovery
Huh, I got it.

Someone else was having the same issue as me. The newest recovery gave him that same error. Flashed 2.6.3.2 and it worked fine. (So far)
Glad to hear. Good Luck.
I have rooted and installed CWM Recovery on my i9505 with 4.3 official firmware but I can't seem to recover my backups from CWM. It seems to complete the recovery task but at the end, it shows like i've only flashed a new rom and the root and CWM gone. Any solutions?
Thanx.

I first downloaded and installed "Recovery Tools", from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2334554
I then downloaded TWRP for my phone from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2501444. I only used this link to find TWRP
for my phone (Canadian D803). I didn't actually follow the directions on this page.
Once I had the TWRP .img file, I used Recovery Tools to flash TWRP.
I then downloaded PhilZ Touch Recovery from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2554053
I booted into TWRP Recovery and from there, flashed PhilZ Recovery. From that point on, when I boot into recovery, I get into PhilZ instead of TWRP.
I still haven't figured out how to boot into recovery using the power/volume buttons. I've tried a few times and I can't get it to work. However, Recovery Tools has a reboot option, and that works great for now. Of course, if I get into trouble and can't access this app, that option is gone
*Edit* I finally learned how to boot into recovery using the power/volume buttons! :victory: I followed the instructions given by bodom_hc here:

I did the same thing. I chose "Install" in TWRP and selected PhilZ recovery. After reboot, PhilZ just came up by default. I didn't do anything else myself - I'm pretty new to this. Did I just get lucky?
Hey I have this huge problem with TWRP. I wiped the usual files, and then tried to flash a rom. It said ERROR: failed to update binary zip or something like that.
