Hey Guys
I want you to ask some Questions about the G2
- How good is the Camera?
-Is the OTG Feature great?
-Is the Internal Storage sufficient?
I think that was all
Thank you

I am very very happy with mine, camera is awesome (sometimes a bit slow though), The phone is very snappy, wireless storage is amazing, sound is the only thing that disappointed me, hoping KK fixes those issues.
Thank You
Nothing that is Bad? (Yes, Sound is bad, i have heard it )
Like some freezes etc?
I really like this phone. It's really fast with kitkat. It's the only phone that I use with stock rom because it's really awesome.
For the camera : outdoor pics are amazing, indoors they are just fine and low light pics are fine too (but if you want to take pics of you with your friends at a party, they will be crappy cuz if somebody moves during the shot, there will be blur on the person that moved so...)
Didn't tried otg but some people even managed to plug a 2.5" hard drive and it worked.
I have the 32gb version and I have some big games (real racing 3, most wanted,...) around 5gb of music, some pics and i still have 16gb free. For me it's enough !
For the sound issue, LG apparently made some changes in the production line because mine is even louder than a Galaxy S3 or Xperia S, I bought it 2 weeks ago ( production date 02/2014 ). I don't know if they changed the hardware or software, but for me it was really good out of the box.
And that battery life... It's amazing ! I have 1h of onscreen time with wifi on, 4h of deepsleep and still 100% battery ?

The camera is decent. Great in daylight, terrible in lowlight/moderatelight situations. Shutter speed is too long and will blur photos with the slightest movement. If you root the phone, theres a camera mod that improves IQ of pictures. Also gives you 4k video recording and [email protected] Pictures still not as good as say the S4.
Dont use OTG very much
32gig decent but could use more. I find myself having to delete alot of videos I take but thats personal preference.
1 > There is about a dozen threads that range from 1 to 30 pages that answer that question.
2> It works.
3> It depends on you. There are 2 different versions depending on carrier and depends on what you want to store on it. For me, 16 GB is plenty. For others 128 GB wouldn't be enough.
The camera is pretty good, but there are far better smartphone cameras out there.
Over all this phone is a really good choice.

Hows the video quality? On youtube for example? Is there a differnce in quality in a rooted vs unrooted? Thanks!
how would giving you access to root directories effect the way the phone works? root simply gives the phone access to things it normally wouldn't so it does nothing to your phone the only way for something to happen to your phone is if you do something to it. so to answer your question no
Well, I am new to all of this. Also I have read where people have said that rooting the phone made it run faster. So I wondered if running faster had any effect on vid quality.
And you never answered my original question... How is the video quality?
well thats in their head lol but you can make your phone run faster by deleting the stock apps but of course you need root for that... actually i did answer your question i said there is no difference it was the little last bit on my first post
Right, you said there was no differnce in rooted vs unrooted. How is the video quality overall? My bud at work has an iphone 3g and without the my 3g app the quality is pretty bad when hes not on wifi. Was curious how smooth the vids were. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

you asked if there was a difference in video quality from a non rooted phone vs a rooted phone and there is no difference but as for having wifi on or off the quality is the same just might take longer to load
Actually on wifi the phone defaults the youtube app to high quality video mode, but on 3g you can simply hit the menu button the load the video in high quality.
LOL!!! So is the quality good, bad?? I do appreciate your info, bro. That sticky you reccomended had some great info!

of course it had great info its a sticky lol and i would say this phone has great video quality. im mean come on it comes with avatar on it lol if it plays it flawlessly it can play anything and so far i havent had any bad quality playing videos unless it was just the actual video that was bad
This phone has quite possibly the best screen out there, so yes the quality is good but it also depends on the video its self of course.
Thank you skater!!!! it only took 12 posts, but finally I got my answer!!!!
Im probably looking to get a vibrant in the next week or two. Im just doing a little research first.

Hi,
I am thinking in buying this amazing phone, but I want some opinions regarding the support. (had some bad experience with lg p990)
How the support for this phone?
Will it get JB? Oficial
How is the battery?
Camera quality?
Smoothness? Lags?
Gaming?
Thanks.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using Tapatalk
support is great especially from this forum . not really no need for samsung direct support , unless you need to send handset back
yes it will get jb , a public release is being tested right now so exspect it to be official very soon
the battery is great in my opinion , me personally get easy 30 hours on moderate / heavy use screen time 4-6hrs
camera quality is great
smmothness and lag is dependant of ROM and what you have running in backgrounds etc etc
gaming is great
a big yes for all the thing you have asked, go on with your purchase

Great. I can get 2 days with normal usage
Camera quality?
Excelent, better than the S2 in my opinion.
Smoothness? Lags?
Almost no lags at all. Just wait and see the Project Butter. It will garantee 60+fps all the time.
Gaming?
Excelent as always.

i was forced to do this when my optimus 2x p990 drowned. best move i made. no lag, no random reboots and acceptable battery and working gps with a quick fix, unlike the o2x. you can get a micro usb to hdmi out for video so beats the o2x in all respects. the only good tegra games seemed to be possibly the tegra 3 ones. camera is great.
You can't go wrong with the Samsung Galaxy S III. Had the LG Optimus 2X before this one as well, the difference is day and night in all aspects. I'm convinced you will not be disappointed just one bit. I mean it even has a notification led and physical home key.
Screen, speed, camera, storage and sound, all is excellent. Even stock rom is a real pleasure. Before this I had the HTC Desire and after that the LG Optimus 2X. I always changed the rom to get rid of HTC Sense and the LG crap. The Samsung Touchwiz, I do even like better than pure Android, who would have thought. But still you can easily flash custom roms and do whatever you want with it.
The support by the community is wonderful and Samsung is good on the updates (sgs 2 probably receives jelly bean, what does that tell you?), heck we may even get an update to Kane Candy (version after jelly bean).
This, is a no-Brainerd .

As the topic title says, i'm looking for a new phone to replace my boring xperia s (bootloader loocked...) and the maximum i wanna spend is 400€. So,for this money the oppo find 5 is the best option? The feature that i most apreciate is taking photos, and my xperia s do it very well...

The camera is OK but nothing amazing in my experience which is fine for me and Faux kernel has done wonders my battery life (+30-40%). Not sure the camera can compare to the Xperia.
Despite those niggles, I'd recommend the F5 above others to friends if asked but it depends on your needs. I certainly prefer it over the Note 2 and Nexus 4. For me is the sweet spot between size, screen, performance and design.
What else is on your short list?
-- From my Find 5
Exactly the switch I made XS->Find5. I thought about getting the HTC One or the S4, but since I planned on running a custom ROM, I didn't want to pay for features I wouldn't use anyway.
Regrets? No. The Find5 has a Sony Sensor as camera, AFAIK the same as in the XZ. On stock ROM, the cam is pretty good, not so much on custom ROMs, though, usual closed source binary blob problems.

Hi!
If you are looking a brand new one, maybe this is the one with best camera for this price (I dont know anything about Nokia and WP) you can buy for that amount.
If you dont mind, maybe you can take a Xperia Z (same sensor, but better app) in the second market.
P.S: Yes, this is my first post in about 3 years LOL! (I prefer reading)

at the beggining i was thinking about xperia z (i'm a huge fan of the xperia line) or htc one (i don't like the samsung plastic), but i reconsidered that ... 550€ or more for a phone? i think it´s to much, so i stablished the 400€ limit, and for that money, and new phones (not used) i'm in between nexus 4 or the oppo find 5 ( i believe they are the only with superb specs and not so expensive phones ). But the nexus 4 is 4.7 inch screen, and an 8mp camera ( but i guess the 8mp i just a number).
3 things that i consider in a phone : camera; battery; development.
So, what you guys say?
If camera is a priority then you may be better looking elsewhere.
The Find 5 camera is OK in good light but struggles otherwise. My wife has a Nexus 4 and I don't rate that camera either.

I agree the Oppo is nothing to get mad excited about. The camera is very noisy. Actually in HDR mode my pictures on the Nexus 4 turned out way better!

Never had the chance to compare to a Xperia S.
But for the claims made by their commercial it doesn't live up to the promise.

I too am interested in this phone, one of my main concerns is battery life.
When you say you have about 30-40% more battery life, how many screen on time are you talking about? 5-6 hours?
Thank you.

Well you can forget the Stock firmware even with fauxes Kernel it will suck you dry. The best experience as far as battery life i had so far was with Cyanogenmod. Even so it is not running an optimized Kernel it seems to handle power mangement way better!
5-6 hours screen on is way over what you will be able to achieve with normal day 2 day use. For sure you will max out at the moment at 4 hours screen on time.
If you are looking for a new phone with lot's of battery life i would hold of another 1-2 month and see what others have to offer because Oppo didn't even release 4.2 yet but they are planning on in early August. Until then don't bother!
so, in conclusion, despite the problems with the camera ( which i think it's a software problem, not hardware ) for 400€, and with a custom rom, the oppo it's the best phone on the market?

Sorry just saw this... I've tried most of the stock/beta ROMs and as a light to moderate user, it lasts me about 24-36 hours. Without faux kernel I would get around 3 to 3.5 hours screen on (email, twitter, browser, Tapatalk, watching a TV show, taking pics/video and a few calls).
With faux setup for battery life, I can get 4.5 to 5 hours doing the same stuff and there isn't really a performance hit as I'm not doing much needing the phone to run at full speed for long.
It was really the idle drain that was killing it at around ~1.5%-2% per hour rather than ~0.8% with faux. Usually, I'm on wifi and have GPS on and leave them on when sleeping so it was overnight that saw a big improvement.

Yeah I used Stock to for a while and when you do close ups the camera makes some pretty nice pictures. But as soon as contrasts aren't really there anymore it gets potentially noisy.
I mean how much can you really expect from a smartphone camera sensor without any optics to adjust depth.
Your pictures are nice. I made some nice ones myself but they don't measure up to HTC One's Ultrapixel contrast and light condition abilities.
Funny part about all of this is probably that drivers neither on Stock or Custom are really optimized.
I do though still think the state the phone is in right now it is not worth it. Neither Stock Software nor Custom give you a really great experience with the device right now.

After trying numerous stock and custom ROM/kernel combinations, I have to disagree. Last week's Chinese Firefly is, IMO, very usable in terms of performance, battery life, and reliability.

Hi there mates, Id like to ask You an advice. Im going to buy a new phone today and I was all in samsungs hype and wanted Galaxy S4 as the price went down since S5 is out. Than I started to read XDA S4 threads and discover this crapy Knox thing. As rooting my device is main priority for me, so I can use my device for a specific tasks only rooted apps provide and want to be able to modify the ROMs, with Knox S4 seems to be very limited for this. I really dont care about voiding warranty, but Knox seems to be causeing a lot of faults anyway and will be improved in next android updates with Knox 2.0. So S4 is no go for me. Than I started looking for other brands and ended up with LG G2. The price is to the cent Same as S4. Hardware seems to me bit better. I really like display of G2 and the overall look, compare to cheap plastics used with S4. Also like buttons on the Back. I tried to read a lot and watched some vids of G2 on youtube, but still have few uestions.
1. Im for 32 Gb G2, haveing no slot for aditional memory Id like to know if G2 can do USB OTG, and if so can I also use classic big PC HDD?
2. Can i get rid of navbar? as Im useing IMD Gestures I Dont want navbar to take display space.
3. Rooting G2 seems to be not difficult and problematic with android 4.2.2 on it, the version i want to buy is 4.2.2.
Is that right?
4. As I love my music and have Senheiser ears, Id like to know how It sounds?
5. As comming from samsungs android and seen others and also seen lg one, I really do love its look and clearnes and easy handling. Lgs android seems to have very childish/amateurish look and messy to orient myself in it. Question is are there ROMs or MODs that can change the look and feel a bit closer to samsungs android?
6. Battery seems to be all for G2 am I right? Whatabout gaming, heard it takes a lot of battery?
7. Whatabout the display, any disadvantages?
8. How solid is it Made, can it be easily broken?
9. Anything Else I soud know? Reasons why to buy or look for any other device?
10. Whatabout updating and rooting on Kitkat?
Thanks in advance to all, for help.
Greetings
Well i make it Step by Step i have th G2 32 GB and use it for Everything
1.Yes the G2 Supports Usb OTG and you can use Most of the Usb Sticks and also Hdd's (Ofcourse need the Big Externals theyre Own Powersource and the 2,5" ones maybe an Additional Powered Usb Hub since the G2's Usb Port might not deliver enough Power)
2.Ofcourse but i think thats only possible if you root the Phone and Install the Xposed Framweork + G2tweakbox
3.The Rooting process is indeed Pretty Easy just Follow the Nice Tutorials you can Find in the G2' Forums And 4.2.2 is okay and the 4.4.2 Update is already out too.
4.The Audio Quality is Amazing especially if you give the Audiochip the Support of the Viper 4 Android app
5.There is already a Rom Who gives a Samsung S5 Look but i think its onl for the D802 G2 Variant but there are enough Themes and Mods available to Customize it the Way you like.
6.On Android 4.2.2 the battery Life is Better than on 4.4.2 (But that depends on the usage ofcourse) On Custom Roms with the Right kernel and settings the G2's Performance Range varies but you will figure that out.
7.No Disadvantages the Display is Awesome Colors are not too Saturated (Like on many Oled/Amoled Displays)
8.Thats a thing wich made me Worry a bit,the Backside seems very Scratch Sensitive and without a Case or Bumper it can Slip out of the hand...Atleast thats how it feels like.
9.Ofcourse thats up to you and what you prefer, The G2 doesnt has a Removable battery,No Hardware Homebutton and the Buttons on the Back of the Phone are strange (My opinion) And ofcourse the lack of a Micro-Sd Card slot
10.If you Buy the phone just Update it Via the Update Section in the Settings to get KK directly from LG then you can Root it (Tutorials are available on XDA)
I hope i helped a bit and sry if my English is difficult to Understand
The G2 is still cheap plastic and it's better not going without a case. This thing breaks if it's dropped :cyclops:

That's a matter of personal opinion. For me, the Samsung and LG roms look pretty close to eachother. With G2 Tweaksbox you can tweak most of the UI and you can also flash a "flatter" notification panel. There are plenty of mods.

Battery is great - well it used to be great prior to 4.4.2. If you wanna flash, I suggest a Cloudy rom from cloudyfa + dorimanx kernel.

Performance wise, KitKat is a lot better, but the battery is a bit worse. I'm personally on KitKat because speed is more important than 1 hour extra of screen on time. I mean, I'd spend that 1 hr extra SOT watching my phone lag so it breaks even - if you know what I mean

I think the battery life of the G2 on kitkat will still kick the S4's butt by a margin. We have been spoiled on jellybean but with kitkat it is still far better than any smart device that I have used.
The battery life still can be improved with a custom kernel like dorimanx. For me the phone is running for 27hrs straight with wifi on all the time, got 2hrs of SOT and yet I still have 83% battery left.

custom recovery
Hi there mates,
so I finally get my LG G2 (d802). I updated to 4.4.2 KK and rooted it with IOroot, it was oh so easy. But than I started to read about custom recoveries and it is oh so mess. I pushed twrp with adb sucesfullyl, but cant reboot into recovery because some boot error and have black screen, when i hold power button i can get in to system normally. I red about autorec, but seems to be buggy and i dont want to loose knock on. Also red about Philz and CWM, but dont want to run into some kind of trouble, so I thougt it would be wise to ask someone more experienced for an advice. Would You please be so kind and give me a helping hand on this topic? Can You recommend me a custom recovery working on 4.4.2 KK without needing to unroot and downgrade and the method to push/flash/install it?
Thanks in advance mates!

Hi everyone,
I just purchased a lg g2 (hasnt arrived yet), but I read about the terrible camera afterwards and am wondering if I should return it. I currently have a htc sensation, i think that camera is ok, it at least has a quick shutter speed. I also used a sony z1 compact, although it takes great pictures, its slow as hell, it doesnt take a picture until 2-3 seconds after pressing the shutter.
1. is the camera is deal breaker? I tend to take spur of the moment pics so I need quick shutter speed
2. does the camera mod help much?
3. did the newest 4.4.2 update do anything to improve the camera? I'm not sure if what I read was before or after the update
4. are there any other major issues that I should be aware of?
I'm a simple person, I like to customize a bit but stability is most important. appreciate any responses that will help me decide. thanks

1. No it's not, shutter is pretty good and you have an option for multiple shots so don't worry about it, it's not a deal breaker.
2. Camera mod? Don't know any but if you will replace the rom you will lose the stock camera which is as I said pretty good, amazing photos in full light and nice photos in dimmed area.
3. Not that I know of, as a 4.4.2 user of the d802 I haven't noticed any difference.
4. I think that the most major issues on android in General is the memory consumption.
Also the stock 4.4.2 doesn't support ART which is a major update for kitkat, you can really feel the difference.
And ofcourse the damn LAG issues on stock rom which drives me crazy when I surf the web or open a PDF file which BTW the CM or any moded rom doesn't have these problems...
I hope you enjoy your new G2 phone but I would consider buying the G3 if you can

Its not really worth it, G2 is a great buy atm, with all the people going nuts for that extra resolution that isnt really worth it the G2's price has dropped and its specs are still some of the best, plus the G3's stock rom has mostly the same features(IIRC), its mostly just aesthetics changes that the G3 has over G2.
Also, there are G3's stock rom ports, what more do you need?
