Right, I got my Vario II a couple of days ago. Its great, but I was wondering something - could I cut to fit my Oyster card to sit underneath the battery cover? Anyone tried this? Does anyone know how much I can trim off of the card? Would be great to just get the phone out to swipe with!
Cheers
Chris
I can't even fit a spare 1Gb MicroSD under it without the cover bulging, so I doubt an Oyster card would fit without some major mod's. You can't trim much (if any) off it, the RF coils are pretty much all the way around the edges of the card. Great idea though!
I just put my Oyster card next to the SD spacer(don't have a Micro SD card yet) and they are about the same thickness. I thought it might be the case with the coils, which is pretty annoying as the card really isn't far off fitting in. Any ideas if there are any pics showing a kinda 'xray' of the Oyster?
haha, you copying the Japanese on this? They too have the equivalent of Oyster cards (Suica, much more advanced with online usage if you have a card reader attached to your computer) which can be integrated into their mobiles. In fact, I do wonder if the technology of the 2 systems are teh same
I'm sure there must be a way to cut up the oyster card so that only the data bit remains? Anyone got a spare fiver to dissect an oyster card?
Oyster is a standard Mifare card.
Although I've not seen "inside" the oyster - a mifare card has a coil slightly larger than the size of a 50p in the centre - with the chip either inside or outside of the coil.

Right fellows I have tried to search nearly an hour to find-out what’s & where the chip is inside the Oyster but no joy, finally I have tried one another card to just give it a try and I am sadly declaring that it is NOT possible at all to sandwich the oyster card between the battery & its cover (I have tried on my XDA-IIi -- Alpine), even though I have tried to press the cover so hard that the sliding latches could break in a split second. Check the pictures.

So why would you want to take out your highly desirable phone in a crowded tube station?
Do you need the insurance money?
Maybe you could attach credit cards to a lanyard, hang them from the phone and have your PIN number tattooed to your forehead.
Anyway I am carrying my oyster in the card slot of my XDA-IIi's leather pouch and touching the pouch on the scanner every day, works fine for me.
I think this is more secure from the prying eyes and for the scratch protection of the device.

i would say yes, with some modification. check out this link if you are still interested. I plan to do this for my Hero in the coming weeks

I bought my Galaxy S4 1 1/2 weeks ago and already spend something like 100€ on accessories.
My first NFC-Tags (1k mifare classic) had to go back because they won't work (had the original cover on my S4 at that time)
Then i ordered the original "S Charger Pad" and "S Charger Cover" and some days later NTAG203-stickers.
I just love the ability to charge it wireless. When the new NFC-stickers arrived none of them were recognized.
My Xperia Z tablet had no problems with them.
For some reason i removed the "S Charger Cover" from my phone and voila ... it worked.
Also no problems with the original, flexible cover, but with the charger-cover ... i can rub the stickers all over the back - nothing happens.
In a german android bulletin-board some ppl told me, that they don't have any problems with S4 + Charger cover + NFC.
I contacted the Samsung-Support and they told me, that my problem is very common and that the qi-copper-coil in the cover prevents nfc from working.
So what is it now? NFC is not working for me and Samsung tells me, that this is normal.
But on the other hand there are tests of the cover and other people telling me, that it works.
Does anybody here have a clue, what could be wrong here ?
Some information:
- Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 (Android 4.2.2), original battery, no root
- original S Charger Cover (EP-P100IEWEGWW) bought from Amazon (manufact date 2013-06-19)
- NTAG203 Stickers
- when i lift the lower end of the cover about 1cm it works
solved ...
Problem kinda solved.
Since the cover actually has a build in antenna fpr nfc to prevent the problem it had to be a problem with the mainboard/battery/antenna.
I've put a little piece of paper right on top of the contacts for nfc (upper right) and closed the inductive cover.
The funny thing - nfc worked now. So i thing the 0,1mm of the paper fixed the connection between the contacts and don't damp the signal of nfc.
Now i can charge inductive and still use the nfc. I'll see if i can finde some better solution than a piece of paper - like two little drops of conductive varnish on the contacts of the cover.

Same problem here. I was conviced that the cover integrated an NFC coil as well as a QI one.
So you have a samsung case with nfc built in and it doesnt work unless you cover the contacts and let the battery nfc do its job? Is that correct?
As I have no nfc working on my phone and it annoys me, all stock too
Hey guys, I've been trying for a while now, and have only found dead ends.
I purchased a Spigen Slim Armor View for my new S5, not realizing that their functionality had been changed since the S4.
Having easily realized that all the 3rd party apps I can find for "fake" S-views are god-awful. I started looking for a solution to bypass the check for an S-view chip, and force S-view mode on bootup. My phone is rooted, and I do have xposed frameworks, but every mod I try just doesn't work. Does anyone have any solutions? I'd rather not have to settle for the awful apps, or have to buy an authentic case/chip to physically mod my case.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated guys!
Tried a couple more scripts and kernels last night... Still no luck.
I'm hoping someone here has a solution!
Sort of in the same situation
I just bought the IC chip from aliexpress, 5$ for 2 and got a screen protector
After installing and inserting a small magnet from the headphones on the lower left of the spigen s-view case, the phone now recognizes this and forces the phone to show the s-view display
the only issue i have now is that the view in the spigen is smaller than the offical samsung s-view case, hence the camera and answering a call is cut off
is there anyway to mod the s-view window on the phone to make it smaller?
So, I got a new S-View case today (Spigen Slim Armor View) and found out that when I closed the window completely, the s-view functions didn't work. But, when I had it partially open, it did work. Was wondering if anybody has had this issue before, or if anybody knew a possible fix. Thanks!
So before I go ahead and bust my SD/SIM card tray I figured I'd ask here. So From what I understand once the tray is removed one side is dedicated to SD cards and the flip side is where a SIM card would fit but there appears to be this black plastic piece that is preventing the SIM from fitting properly.
I've lightly pulled on that piece but it doesn't feel like it supposed to come out so I guess my question is, can that black plastic piece be removed or is there another way to set the SIM card on the tray?
So I did watch that video prior to posting here and while I found it helpful it doesn't mention anything about wether that black piece is removable or not. I guess logic should dictate that since it didn't appear that the guy in the video has that piece on his tray it must come off.
Can anyone give me a thumbs up on this before I go ripping pieces off the card tray lol? Thanks again everyone.
