Hi everyone.
I have a 16 GB Google Nexus 7 with Android 4.3. (Last year’s model, not the newest one.)
The Nexus 7 is hooked up to my desktop computer via a USB cable,
'
I’ve make some new folder using ES File Explorer.and arranged my pdf files accordingly. But when i connect nexus 7 to pc it dosen't show any new changes made by es file explorer(despite when i am using the latest version)...
To view all my files on pc in the same manner ......i have to restart my tablet and again connect it to pc
I was wondering why this is happening .
Is this problem in my Tablet only or every nexus user is facing it...???
my tablet isn't rooted
and i am running Windows 7 ultimate on PC
.
Thank you!

When I move some files to mnt/sdcard on my phone and connect the USB cable, the files don't show on Windows XP computer.
On another thread it was explained that the MTP service doesn't automatically index files but an app called SDrescan can
do it manually. I found out that restarting the phone makes the files available on the computer.
Is there better way to do this?
Is this only a WindowsXP issue?
[edit]
It's now clear that this is an issue with Android.
How did it work on older versions? I'm running 4.2.1
I got the same problem on Windows 7

I have the same problem on Fedora Linux using MTPFS. I gave up on MTP and use adb to push & pull files or directories. I have seen people recommend airdroid. But never used it myself. You can also try Droid Explorer.
Yeah, that's an issue on MTP's side, not XP or 7
I recently upgraded to Windows 8 then subsequently to Android 4.3 on my Nexus 10. I can see the device in device manager and adb recognizes that the device is connected however the device does not show up as device to enable me to transfer files. My Galaxy Nexus and Xoom show up as expected. I have installed the latest drivers and I am at a loss. I have other ways of transferring files but I would like to get this fixed. Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Hey all.
I have a 4.3 stock Nexus 10 that I'm having some problems with USB. I can create and modify folders using ES File Manager on my tablet, but when I try to view the USB of my Nexus 10 on my PC they don't show up. This is a problem as it means I can't modify/edit/delete etc the folders on my PC. Does anyone else have this problem, or a fix for it?
Thanks!

Hi,
Did you try another PC? This issue never happened to me before, but it looks like your PC isn't recognizing your tablet folders correctly. Does the folder still exists after you exit ES File Manager?

There are some limitations on the stock Nexus 10 when using a media server (i.e. MTP). Most Nexus devices that have a microSD card support MTP and provide full access via USB connection. Since the N10 does not have a microSD option, you don't have MTP support and have to use PTP instead as your USB connection which will only provide limited access. For rooted N10s there are other alternatives that can be found using a google search and/or these forums.
Because of this, I personally use an OTG connection to transfer large files or use AirDroid. In emergency situations, I have pushed and pulled files from the N10 using Nexus 10 Toolkit or Wugfresh's Nexus Toolkit.

Maybe you have "USB debugging" activated in Settings\Developer Options\Debugging. Turn USB Debugging OFF and your PC will see your N10.
Another possibility is the Drivers are not updated or not correctly installed in PC. Good Luck!
Hey all. I think it may just be an app-specific problem. I was using Manga+ to download manga, and whilst it'd show up in ES File Explorer, it wouldn't over USB. However, if I compressed the folder with ES File Explorer, it'd show up. Well, it's a pain but at least I can access the files. Thanks!
Hi all,
I bought a Nexus 10 recently and updated it to kitkat 4.42. I wanted to root it, so I downloaded the latest NRT and proceeded to follow the instructions. This started out with uninstall previous drivers, lunching USBDeview and uninstalling everything related to the Android.
BUT, when I plug my nexus 10 into my PC with windows 7, I get the message, driver installation unsuccessful. It doesn't show up as storage either. However, it does charge and it does say"connected as media device" on the nexus. I tried switching from MTP to PTP and back, but no go.
So I plugged it into my windows 8 laptop and it DOES appear as storage on it and works fine. It makes it sound like its an issue with my PC or windows 7.
Any ideas on how to fix this? I'm only on my laptop when I work so its quite annoying to have to only transfer files from there.
Thanks in advance!
Download the android sdk. This contains thr drivers. Then install the drivers manually.

On my Nexus 7 running Android 6.0.1 build number MOB30X, I cannot detect files or folders using a my File manager or when connected to my Win 10 PC. Another Nexus 7 usng the sames lead connects to PC perfectly and File manager works fine. the problem arose when my grandson broke screen on his Fire tablet and I wanted to transfer his Minecraft files to another tablet. I managed to get the files off his old device and uploaded to Dropbox The Tablet I wanted to transfer to works perfectly on all the games etc. but I cannot get to the relevant folder. I have got hold of another older Nexus and was able to transfer the files. why wont the other one allow access to the folders?
