UNOFFICIAL AOKP Nightly Builds
Since AOKP development has started picking up with their addition of their new Gerrit server, I've decided to release nightly builds for AOKP. These should be released every day anywhere from 6-9pm depending on when I get time to do it. Also, some days I might not get the time. However, it should be almost every day that a new build comes out.
All credits go toward the entire AOKP team for their efforts in making one of the most customizable builds out there right now. It is absolutely fantastic.
You can download it by sorting by date uploaded right here on my goo.im profile:
http://goo.im/devs/rohan/tenderloin/aokp_nightlies
Note: These downloads are provided untested. This might break your system so be sure to keep a backup handy. Nightly builds are usually more unstable than any other type of ROM, but if you want the latest features then use this. I do not take responsibility for anything that may happen to your system.
Another note: These downloads do not come with any sort of support. Do not ask for help in IRC for aokp if you are running these nightlies. They are not official and thus are not officially supported. So don't go and give roman and the other devs a headache
And another note: They don't come with gapps, download those separately from goo.im or some other source.
You should just be able to download and install the zip in CWM, then wipe caches. Reboot and enjoy. No other wiping is needed, only caches.
Right now I am building on my personal PC (I don't have a server) so I apologize if it takes a while to get builds up! My system isn't the fastest at making builds haha
I will be making these ROMs updateable via the goo.im app probably this weekend, I don't have much time right now to figure out how it works.
If you want to find out when I release the new nightly, follow me on twitter: http://twitter.com/rohanXm
Looking forward to it!
Is there a changelog like the CM nightlies?

AOKP is pretty awesome. I run it on my Epic 4G and I agree it's more customizeable than CM9 and pretty solid in terms of reliability . Thanks for these Touchpad Nightlies Rohan! Installing it as we speak!

You can find what was merged here:
http://gerrit.sudoservers.com:8080/#/q/status:merged,n,z
It will display some other device stuff, though most AOKP stuff from that gerrit is for the entire AOKP as a whole and not device specific.

The only "side effect" is that you cannot access the Trebuchet settings and your build.prop values will be different leading to some funky and wrong info in your About Tablet area of your settings.

I just changed it under general ui with rom control settings. Thanks though, its very smooth so far.
Anybody else get a System UI has closed error. Weird, hopefully it was a one time thing. Flashing the 4/20 now. Hopefully that fixes it, I did a full wipe and will wipe again

Yup you need to reflash the Package and nope its the default Cyanogenmod Kernel.
This build is 100% AOKP "stock", as in its simply compiled from source with no changes.

The Supreme mods work fine but the xenon kernel broke my wifi (not had any wifi issues on any build) so back to cyanogen kernel and everything is working
The latest nightly (5/07) fixed my screen off/sound bug. All previous builds of AOKP had a muffled or distorted sound bug that appeared once I dimmed the screen while playing music. Bravo! I believe the fix came from the Classicnerd team, who once again prove they are contributing in remarkable ways. Bravo to them as well!
is this wifi driver included in the nightlys?

I tried both the 05/07 and 05/08 AOKP nightlies and the screen off/sound bug is still there just like any other ROM I have tried. Are you sure that you have the volume turned up enough?

Hey XDA,
So I came from the Toro GNex and really enjoyed both Muzzy and Shiny's roms since they were both a very vanilla version of AOSP.
Does anyone know of any roms, specifically for Verizon, that are pretty close to vanilla AOSP? I would prefer stability over custom features that many devs have added to their versions of AOSP.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Since the G2 didn't come with an AOSP, people have mostly been using AOKP or CM to make their vanilla-ish ROMs. I haven't seen anything that's just plain AOSP.
Have you tried other ROMs?

I've been pretty swamped at work, so I haven't had a lot of time for crack flashing any AOSP roms. Currently I'm running debloated stock.
I didn't realize PA or CM were close to vanilla AOSP, do you recommend giving them a shot/are they stable at this point?

So I'm on CM11 using the nightly build from 1/31. You can try the latest nightly, but there' have been reported issues. I'm not familiar with them though. There's a lot of talk on the G+ CM community. I'd join that anyway.
Whatever you do, do a complete backup so you can just revert back if something isn't to your liking.

I'm on PA 4.0 Beta 6 and I really like it. There is a new 4.1 version out that I think is good, but it took out some of the customization (so it's probably worth trying both to see which you like). PA is vanilla I think...I've ran it for so long I don't have a reference point any more haha. I came from a Toro GNex on PA 3.99.

Also came from toro Gnex and used vanir there. Now I use PA.:good:
For the record, ParanoidAndroid is normally FAR from pure vanilla AOSP, it's only vanilla-ish now because the main features(hybrid engine, Hover(the Halo replacement), per-app dpi, etc.) are not finished yet. That being said, stability is never really an issue(all ROMs have issues at the moment, at least until the new 4.4 kernel sources can be implemented). I factory flashed my manta last weekend, and I forgot how bare pure AOSP really is. Most custom features add to the experience, and if you don't like them you can just turn them off. :good:
Still, the G2 is lacking a true AOSP ROM. Again, PA doesn't count because eventually it will re-add all the features in a few months time. There's nothing like Purity or RastaKat for the G2. I was contemplating learning how to port Purity over to the G2 earlier, seeing as how Purity has a hammerhead version. I just don't have the time at the moment.
Hello friends.
As all of us see, LG released their KitKat sources long time ago. Our great developers like @dr87 @Savoca @houstonn and others made it with Their hard work to merge them so we have two stable / nearly stable roms: Mahdi and PA. But what with other roms? Most of the roms are based on CM, so they still have bugs.. During months, CM doesn't seem to have done ANYTHING.
So my question is, how about to send a message (or spam, in any way u name it) by all of us to CM, to the maintainer? We have official support, but in fact it's "support without support" in my opinion. Maybe after these messages they would finally start to do something, because it's like they forgot about G2...
Regards.
EDIT: so we have a way to contact => https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/secure/Dashboard.jspa
now we should make a well, polite message so everyone would copy it and drop there.
Another way it would be to ask the maintainer directly https://plus.google.com/+RicardoCerqueira
EDIT2: I gave a comment to Ricardo on Google+ here https://plus.google.com/+RicardoCerqueira/posts/4dc8kVBYuTq feel free to do it as well
The best bet would be to create an improvement note at their so called "Bug Tracker" considering that they are doing this for free, this would be the most polite form.
I support this initiative, but today be entirely honest M6 for me is almost bug free, fast and battery efficient.
Up to date sources is great, but if a rom is working well, I don't care if the sources are old!

I personally had CM for some time, and it never was so stable as Mahdi R1 which i have now. Besides that, a lot of roms like Carbon or Slim can't be simply updated from CM sources, so they still have bugs.

Just to clarify, roms that are based on CM do not need CM to upgrade to 4.4.2 sources. The upgrade is done in the device tree / vendor files and kernel. The rom source does not need any changes and each rom maintainer for the G2 has the power to upgrade their rom to 4.4.2 G2 sources without CM doing anything, they just need to figure out the specific device tree bugs for each rom and fix them.
I am under the impression you think CM needs to upgrade in order for CM based roms to upgrade, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong :good:

apparently theres a bit of confusion, there was some one nightly where the rotation wasnt working with the jb baseband, (im gussing on that nightly he used the kk source ) because flashing the kk baseband on that build fixed the rotation issue, but im not quiet aware of what the situation is ince im back on stock. anyways ill be swinging it on the latest nightly just to clarify my doubts. and im pretty sure they just want the maintainer to switch to kk source , btw nice to see you here hope your cooking something great for us

Well, in the past I had some Android phones, and CyanogenMod was always first with upgrading everything, and then other developers were basing their ROMs on these updates. I mean, they updated everything, end other ROMs were updated fast. They're not giving support which they were giving in the past, that's all.

Oh
Hey,
been a while since I been here(from back in the days of my Galaxy Nexus). I just picked up a Note 4. I like it. I somewhat dislike the TouchWiz and hate how out of box it's using 1.8-2GB of ram on start up(assuming because of TouchWiz).
Is there any roms out there that run practically stock Android(pref. 5.0 Lollipop?) but still have the S-Pen suite enabled, including the part when I pull my S-Pen out it notices it and gives me that "Air command" menu.
One last plus would be something that gives me the ability to still use fast charge 2.0.
I looked up a couple of roms but unless I missed something they don't offer these features.
Any help? I have the Canadian N910W8 model and use it on Band 4 AWS/UMTS(3G) and LTE on various freq's so the radio would(should, preferably stay in-tacked)
Thanks!
I don't think this belongs in this section man, maybe ask it in the Q and A. It will probably get moved.
On answering your question, at this stage there is no stock aosp rom that supports spen functions. It's a little bit of a dream for most users. Although I hear that lollipop will be faster than stock, that's what I've read.

That's wrong. There is S-Pen functionality in cm12 at this moment. All you have to do is download and install one or two apps from Play Store. This apps are even free.
It is CM S-Pen en Note Buddy. I have installed them myself and S-Pen does work.
Found this the other day https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.steadfastinnovation.android.spenlauncher&hl=en
Im running cm12 with the following
s pen launcher
cm s pen add on
note buddy
papyrus
this gives me basic s pen functions but is more than adequate for my needs

You are not entirely right either. There are free versions of this apps, but for full functionality you have to pay, not that there is anything wrong with it, just stating the fact. Also you have some s-pen functionality, but not all of it, and in my opinion CM12 s-pen functionality is somewhat less fluent and intuitive then TW one. Regardless, I still prefer CM than TW
I would also like to know how is this thread relevant to Development section

Be careful throwing around the word 'wrong'. I did say as far as I know, just trying to help someone out. There is apps you can use with cm or some other aosp roms, but it's nothing like the spen features you get from within TW. Not that I'm a big fan of it myself, I have quite a few gripes myself, *cough* performance... But for the multi window and spen features, presently if you use them all, TW is it for now.

I have the same phone as you. So far LiquidSmooth and the Unofficial CM-12.0 are the only Lollipop builds that can even use the S-Pen (Unless you know of others). You won't get the TW features of course. I'm very slowly looking into building a AOSP Lollipop rom that is custom built for our N910W8 devices. I've never built my own before so it is a lot of learning.

It *should* be doing that. Unused RAM is wasted RAM. It's caching stuff for speed so that the next time it needs to load up something, it can check if it still is in RAM already. It's not a TouchWiz thing.

You can still install it on other versions of the Note 4. Just expect some things not to work. If your running the CAN version of the Note 4 I don't recommend using LS atm due to very poor battery life on this model.

Has anyone tried converting all the original s-pen apps to user apps with titanium backup, and then doing an app and data backup of them from the stock ROM, installing CM12, and then try to install them?
I'd try it myself, but I'm asking on behalf of a mate, not for myself. I think there's a possibility that it might work. It's gotta be worth a try..

How do we do that? I haven't found a note 4 lollipop tw rom anywhere? Apart from an unstable unofficial cm rom.
I browse XDA everyday and these days there are so many new custom roms for OPX. I'm so confused choosing the one to be flash on my OPX (E1001). So I would like to make a vote so that everyone can share their experience about custom roms choosing. For me, After tried several roms I'm now back to OxygenOS since it's stable. Bluspark kernel gives me a smooth UX and fine performace in gaming. I got 27-29 fps playing Hearthstone on my phone.
Try them, read the forums and decide for yourself. Best rom threads aren't allowed on xda.

Yup. That's the best way. Just try em all. I don't even have a favorite. Some are better in different ways. Right now I am running Oxygen though. It's the only ROM supported by the Boeffla kernel right now
I means I just want to find a rom which has good battery and bug free for daily use.

Bro you can use boeffela kernel on h2os also I have flashed boeffela 7 for oneplus x OOS on h2os and it is running smoothly no lags at all and on benchmark it is giving a score of 68k to 69k by doing some customization by boeffela config app
I totally understand this poll.
Following OnePlus X development thread for some time now, it is quite difficult to choose one of the ROM.
For those saying that we need to try them ... I tried most of them and can't figure out why using one compare to the other ...
Most of them are CM based or include exactly the same feature.
I remembered using TeamEOS ROM and this, was completely different (in my point of view). Some extra goodies included but all from them, with some differences (gestures instead of navbar).
I don't want to be rude dev, but except AOSParadox, all are quite similar for "normal" users (not developpers I mean) and when using one, you tried all of them ...

What is so different than all other CM based rom?
too many similar roms, it's quite annoying actually. would of liked some custom Oxy OS roms etc and H2OS debloated roms
all these cm13 roms are the same just rebadged

The biggest thing for me, that there are no bugs. No wifi bug, no invalid number bug, build in superuser works, so no need for supersu etc.
For me it's bug free,

Just tried it myself. No crashes here. I'm running with bluspark kernel 104 BTW.
I tried some custom ROMs but battery life is nothing like OxyOS..
I found screen on time 5.5-6 hr in oxy os & it's great...
So I am Desperately Seeking
Is there any Custom OS based on OxyOS/H2OS ?
yeah i would like a h2os lite version but not holding my breath for it. h2os with boeffla kernel flies. 71k antutu score.
also this vote will only show how many users r using their preferred rom. it will not show the best rom.

No crashes also for me. Try clean flash (wipe data, system, cache). Not a single bug in one week

Try purity rom. You'll find it on purity community on g+. For me it's perfect. Not a single bug

I am working on a custom oos rom. Will release when its ready (think about two weeks from now). And I'm still pending on permission from a few developers to use their source.

That's the very good news....
Custom H2OS may be better ..
Any way ???
So for me it's either ashwins cm13 or purity. But what all custom ROMs currently lack is encryption.
That is one thing (I know it is hard to implement) I really would like to see in the next builds as it is for me an essential feature when you are using a custom recovery and an unlocked bootloader. I hope there will be some focus on it within the next weeks.
The only option for now is: stay on stock
