AS the title would suggest, I'm having a small issue with my headset button.
I got my G2 today and while excellent, my previous phone, HTC One, would react perfectly to the headset button.
I use doggcatcher often and when pressing the button on the One, the podcast would play or pause perfectly. I could remove my headset and an hour later connect it back, hit the button and back playing where it left off.
With the G2 the damn music app keeps playing and it will play the choir ringtones. Even if I am playing a podcast in Doggcatcher and I hit the button the music player will interrupt Doggcatcher to play the ringtone.
Is there a fix for this? Or a way to disable the build in stock music player which I will NEVER use.
Solved it

What was the fix?
What was the fix for this? I am having a similar issue, but my headset will only launch the dialer and I can't figure out how to make ANY music or podacst app respond to my wired headset button.

All,
I have an issue when I am on the phone and press the dongle mute button it starts the music player. Obviously, this causes an issue as I have music playing in the headphones while the call is going on. Any ideas on how to disable this? I have a mytouch3g running cyanmod4.0.4 and the hero community remix theme.
Is this the right behavior
Can anyone confirm that this is how the phone should act? When you are on a call using the supplied dongle and headset, if you push the mute button on the dongle should it start the music player? Then if you press it again it will stop. This coincides with the phone going on and off of mute. Obviously a big issue since the music starts playing in the headphones while a call is going on.
Just trying to see if this is the correct behavior or if there is an issue/bug/setting for my setup. Cyan4.04 w/hero comm mix theme
I use my music player quite a lot, and am looking for ways to improve on the experience on Android phones.
What I wish to do is to be able to control the music in the following ways, regardless of whether the screen is turn off or on, and regardless of whether the music program is running in the foreground or background.
- long press volume up button: go to next song
- long press volume down button: goo to previous song
- press both button together: toggle between play and pause.
- normal volume up and down still controls the volume
I found a program in the market place, but it only works when the music player is in the foreground, and the screen must be on.
I use this feature a lot on my iPhone before bed, and hope I can do the same on my SGS.
Is there such a program you're aware of in the Market place?
that's interesting
however, I find it easier using my Bluetooth A2DP for that sort of things.
it works both in my car and my stereo headset
i can remote control the play of the music before/next, stop, pause, play, random, volume, etc
best is, if a phone comes in, it automatically switches to phone mode, and when the call is over, it resumes back to music mode.
The only single problem i've found is, i don't know now to answer the 2nd call via bluetooth, if 2 people are calling me at the same time.
I don't use Bluetooth. Also, I love connecting the music player to a proper sounding speaker system in my bedroom and lounge.
Hey gang, new TF owner here. I want to play an MP3 in Winamp and surf the net at the same time. How come every time I go to switch applications (by leaving Winamp running, I just hit the home button to start a new app) - the music stops playing.
I'm a little disappointed that I haven't figured out how to do this yet. Anyone have this figured out?
I don't know about WinAMP, but I use the Google Music app and the music doesn't stop when switching apps.
Winamp also plays music in the background, regardless of app switching. Even continues playback even while the screen is turned off, if I recall.
Mine doesn't stop or exit music keeps playing and a notification is added to the bar.
I can confirm on my tablet, Winamp does not keep playing when I switch apps. If it matters, I am using the headset port. Maybe I'll try it without the headset and see if it does.
Maybe the headset port shuts off when the screen goes into sleep mode.
Ok yes, when I am NOT using the headset port, apps play in the background. However, when I use the headset port, the music shuts off when the app is switched (and also when the screen goes into sleep mode).
What's up with that?
I haven't tried Winamp specifically, but every other music app plays in the background no problem with or without headphones plugged in. Music, TuneIn Radio, and iHeartRadio are three that come immediately to mind.
I just download Winamp so I can test and WITH headphone I can multitask and listen to music just fine.
Music still play when screen shut off also.
My built in music player is the same way.
I have a question about the headphones with controls that are bundled with the Note 3. They have 3 buttons for volume up, down, and pause.
The thing is, I use Poweramp as my primary music player, and whenever I double click the pause button to go to the next song it takes my phone off vibrate and turns on its system audio. This is a pain in the ass for when I don't want my notification/ringtone sounds on, but am listening to music and want to skip songs using the headset controls.
Any thoughts or solutions for this issue? Are there any headset settings in the menus that I'm missing?
Hi,
Often, while listening to music in my car, the audio will randomly, and spontaneously, pause for no apparent reason. Sometimes it will start up again after a few seconds, but usually I'll have to hit 'play' myself. This problem is particularly apparent in Spotify, but it has happened in YouTube and Google Play Music as well. Has anyone else experienced this?
Are you plugged in? My first thought is a loose (or breaking) 3.5 mm cord.
Playback in any of those apps will auto pause when a connection is lost (bt or a cord). If you're on bt do other phones do the same thing?

Nope, connected via BT to my car's audio system. Didn't have this problem on my OnePlus One.
This happened to me and I was paying through my speakers

The last two days I have this problem too.
Parrot carkit,Lg watch,ue megaboom.
The music is sometimes lost, and then it starts again.
On my megaboom it cracks a lot.
Very annoying.
Frank_Murphy,
I have this issue as well only with the Google Music app. I can't find the source where I read it but it has something to do with the app and if there is an available video; Some songs have a wallpaper or something and some you can play a music video in the app for the song instead. You just have to hit the back/forward button and it resumes.
