Would think there would be a Root available for this phone by Now, as Kit Kat has been out a few months Now.
Nope

But only a couple weeks for our phone...theres plenty of kitkat phones that have root, even many of the sgs4 variants have root, its our locked bootloader that makes it hard
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
Correct. Most other s4 variants achieved root by flashing a custom recovery. Thanks to the locked bootloader we can't use that method. A vulnerability has to be found that allows us to write superuser to the system.

Will verizons note 3 owners have to use odin to flash roms?
Flash back to stock, then yes or to root. To flash custom roms we need a bootloader work around or unlocked bootloader

Wish it was as easy to unlock as my old phone which is still pretty new (Galaxy Note 2) Adam outler made it very simple with his Creation of Casual one click. Thinking of returning my note 3 and going back to my note 2. Wish there was a DEV edition of the note 3.

I say whats the point of rooting if we cant unlock the bootloader
Sent from my SM-N900V using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
And install a custom recovery. I think this might take some time im not holding my breath...

Not everyone who roots flashes a ROM. I root so I can use battery saving apps that need root to force close some system apps. I use some apps that require root for a firewall or call blocking. Have you ever wanted to freeze pre-installed apps, or even delete then? This list goes on and on.

I am reading a lot of folks who are having issues with the Samsung Galaxy S4 AT&T MF3 build and I don't want to become one! Can some users that has been using "known good" methods for a bit confirm what root method and recovery you are using, please?
Thank you, Moniker

Search for the exFAT card reader method its very easy for root.some people are also using kango root exploit as well
Search Safestrap for its making flashing ROMs safe and easy for most.
That's the only options available for our ATT I337 S4

Is there a compatible official firmware (odin flashable) that I can revert to, not finding any for the MF3.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
you can root on mf3. there are guides in general i think. you can not unlock your bootloader though, only the pre mf3 gs4s can.
It is kingo root. It is easier than the exFAT method.
There is no Odin for MF3. Look for Safestrap.

Yeah kingo is more noob friendly, run program > hit root (pushes supersu) > enjoy :3
Hope I was no imposition.

So I can't return to stock and reset the flash counter if I needed to!?! I am only familiar with flashing Samsung devices with the official firmware via Odin and using triangle away to achieve that...

So I see on nightlies there is a CM-11 Official AT&T 4.4 Kit Kat for the GS4. How can this be? If it's official then why the need for CM? And if run is running CM, then why Kit-Kat?. I thought CM was a ROM in itself?
Sent from my SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
Official means that Cyanogen officially supports the ROM and it is not a port.
4.4 means it is the Android version it is based off of.

Ok, thanks. I'm almost ready to press the button on CM.org's installer. Is it true that I first need to download the GApps zip, because I'll lose all my Google Apps? And I have also seen instructions that say to boot into CWM recovery and wipe data/factory reset... But those instructions were for downloading a CM zip to the extSD and then installing it from recovery mode. I'm wondering if I need to do all that if I'm just going to be using the OneClick installer
Sent from my SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
I don't know anything about the one click. I don't use CM. It is best to follow the instructions from where you found it. Also, I see you are on the i337. What firmware are you on. If it is MF3 or newer, you will not be able to install CM.

Can you install 4.4 roms if your on mf3 with safestrap?

As far as I know.. No.

Do you recommend any specific rom on mf3 using safestrap
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda app-developers app
Go back to the Safestrap Discussion thread. There is a list of compatible ROMs. It is entirely up to you what to run.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
We do not recommended or do "best" roms...users are expected to do their own research and make their own, independent determinations.
I have an AT&T S5 seekingbto just root it stay mainly stock and add CWR nothing More can anyone lead me to the downloads for odin and rooting ect for this?

It tells how you can update your firmware. Since you're rooted the ota probably won't work
