I can only do 3, still.

The 3 device limit is still there on all my dev accounts

I highly doubt the average user would have 30 phones to unlock so this is probably only true in special cases or for larger development teams. I used the Dream Spark method to register and was given 10. Most accounts receive only 3. I am not a developer nor do I claim to be. I only posted what was being reported at wmpoweruser via Daniel Gary's tweet.

Hmm, atm i unlocked 5 devices but on my account it shows me 3.

Are you in the UK? If so, you can alpha test!
Some of you may have friends or business associates living in the UK and we want to leverage your network. We are looking for a small group of alpha testers in this region who would be willing to test Skyfire and provide constructive feedback on the experience. If you have a friend or associate in the UK who fits this criteria, please forward this announcement and have them respond to [email protected] with the following information.
We want as many different carriers, handsets, and rate plans as possible. Skyfire enables a rich browsing experience, which can consume a lot of data, we recommend an unlimited data plan to avoid bill shock on data charges.
Please e-mail us the following information:
•Name
•Email address
•Phone Number
•Handset
•Carrier
•Rate Plan
•Maximum data allowed per day/week/month
We will notify eligible alpha testers next week, if you have been selected.
Please note that some data plans will not allow Skyfire to work (as the ports or blocked by proxy settings). It may turn out even if you are selected, your data plan will not permit Skyfire use.

Thanks for the response. I would like to know how google decide what you can see or what you cant see. Using the carrier or the country (by phone number)?. I guess using the country because this device is sold unlocked (HTC branded) in many shops..... Here in Spain you can buy HTC Dream from Movistar and HTC Dream from Vodafone but you can buy the unlocked device and use it with other operator.......

It depends on your country and Dev phones cannot purchase certain paid apps.
AFAIK, you're locked out from paid apps with a dev phone. No big loss IMO...

this is the correct responce, it has nothing to do with a sim card or where you are when it comes to the dev phones, if i remember correctly its because of devs pirating apps and such
however, i could be wrong, but i think i remember a website for devs to buy paid apps not displayed on the market, again, i could be wrong

Well, that's stretching it a bit - if anything, I'd expect developers to honor the work of a fellow developer trying to make a living. But the mere fact that a dev phone makes it so easy to pirate apps, disqualifies them (the phones, not the developers!) from the paid app parts of the Market.

How does one disable expiration of Windows 8 Consumer Preview?

Looks like Windows 8 expires next year on 1/15. Any way to disable that function so that it doesn't lock down my computer?
Why?
I any case, there'll be a public beta released in the next few months I'd say anyway.
moved to general - not development
I'm not sure you can. Also, it technically isn't deactivated, but rather nuetered. It doesn't get updates, force shut downs every 2 hours, you can't access free MS software, ect. Basically, it drives you mad until you go so insane you get forced into upgrading.

no one said anything about software piracy. Also, one can only illegally use windows IF they use an illegal key. Disabling/enabling windows activation files for development / testing purposes, is not so long as they dont use any product key at all. Plus, there are built in commands to extend the activation period for a set amount of times and can be reset 3 times.

using a product outside of its original intended use, hacked or stolen, is still piracy, you are using something that you have not paid for, whether or not there are exploits to get around that is irrelevant. Dude, it costs next to nothing to buy it so just buy it an feel good that your supporting developers rather than trying to rip them off

Oh, "outside original intended use" is pretty much what hacking is all about. Mind you, that's usually a matter of adding functionality, not of bypassing license restrictions (which is exactly what the OP is asking for, and is, by all intents and purposes, piracy).
Just buy the damn OS for $40 US and use the release version instead of the buggy pre-release. I believe you can even install it over the existing pre-release and keep your files, if backing up is too much trouble. http://www.microsoftstore.com/store...dows_8_Pro?WT.mc_id=MSCOM_HP_nav_BuyWSoftware

my point exactly. I've now updated about half a dozen devices, its so stupidly cheap it would be madness not doing it, any vista era laptop is BETTER than new with it, the age old "excuses" for piracy just don't hold any water at this price point.

Well I never saw that part... Lol. However, I do make a valid point. Microsoft sells software, sure, but it's the keys they actually care about. I actually already disabled the activation utilities in windows 8 pro last night because it came up on a fresh install and crashed my computer. Another valid reason to remove it. I was in middle of watching something and the new activation came up in a metro ui windows and refused to close. Next thing I know, a BSOD came up with a video crash error. Since windows is so cheap, I do plan to buy the pro upgrade, just not right this minute.

while you plan to buy it, what your doing now is still piracy and still frowned apon. the easiest and most effective way to cure activation related crashes is to........actually activate it
Using the already included activation tools that are built in to windows to temporarily disable a buggy subsystem is not piracy. By right, I am given 30 days of free usage on any copy of windows when absent of a product key. I am part of the tech net and msdn and know all about windows, and all of its components, subsystems, and legalities. Trust me when I say that disabling activation during the first 30 days is not by any means even partially shady. Just. E wary after

everybody's on tech net huh!
kinda makes you wonder what your doing messing about with not activating it...
yes you have 30 days to eval it, but heres the thing, since you haven't paid for it, and you have access to technet, I assume that's where you got your copy of it? what I fail to understand then is why you haven't activated it with the key you generated from them...
unless you didn't get it from TechNet , you cant download it without buying it first, unless you got it through alternative channels, but then why would you when you have access to TechNet and not use it....
many questions...
Problem... solved? Maybe? Haha.

Well, I just simply do not have a premium subscription that would allow me access to said keys. I just get copies of things for free for evaluation only. i will be upgrading my TechNet license to premium before too long once i get some more money. The other reason is for testing. i know windows 8 is great, but i want to run a semi-long term test to make sure that windows can hold up to all that i need and do every day. Hence the 30 day evaluation. On average, my computers have about 280GB of nothing but just programs for development (website, source, etc...) and programs for places such as this for building ROMs, and that takes A LOT of space already.
So basically, i disabled the activation out of pure annoyance, and it doesn't need to be activated when merely evaluating the Install. Second, if that is what happens every time it comes up, then i will definitely figure out a way to keep using the older Consumer Preview that just expired on monday, or settle for windows 7 again. Man I had EVERYTHING set up on it. Good for computer repair, ROM building, building custom Windows OS copies for licensed redistribution, etc... You name it, i had it... lol.

Visual Studio 2012 won't let me debug my first app for WP8

Hello community! I'm a full time developer for WPF (Windows Desktop) and I wanted to jump over Windows Phone 8.
I downloaded the SDK and created my first test app (from a template).
The problem: I cannot run/debug the app in any way:
* No emulator available (no Hyper-V)
* My Lumia 920 conveniently connected and unlocked, but it says I have to unlock my device for development.
If understand it well, Microsoft charges a subscription in order to publish apps, but… for developing them, too?
This is a total letdown for me. In the past I debugged and deployed Windows Mobile apps freely. What's the deal? Am I wrong?
Please, help me.
Are you completely sure it is unlocked for development? Have you tried sideloading an app to see if it works?
You don't need to pay anything, it is something you've done wrong somewhere.

That's the funny part! I don't know how to unlock for development! Can you please tell me? Too much time developing WPF apps. I'm not to used to this.
Thanks!!
Search for the app "Windows Phone developer registration" on your computer (assuming you installed the SDK)
Follow the instructions in there. Shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to do it.
Hi again. I followed the instructions, but the Wizard told me this:
"Device not registered with Marketplace. Please return to the developer portal for more information."
The description I found in a forum (Stack Overflow) regarding this error :
UserID was found but no Company was found which has this UserID as an active developer. (0x80043001 or 0x80040207)
Try this:
Log into App Hub and verify your developer account settings.

So I think I have to pay a subscription to become an "active developer". That would confirm that I really need to pay. For me, testing with a physical device is the only option since my PC doesn't support the technologies emulator needs.
Am I lost?
Well if you haven't payed the subscription, then yes, you need to pay it.
What I meant to say is that there is no other thing to pay besides the developer subscription.
Yes, you either need the Emulator which in turn needs an Core i3, i5 or i7 or equivalent AMD processor that supports newer hardware virtualization features. Deploying onto the device itself needs a developer subscription. You can get one for free in case you're a student through Microsoft's Dreamspark program. I don't know if that is an option for you but it deserves to be mentioned.

Well, you get some other benefits on an unlocked phone and as a developer. Depending on where you live, you get free training camps, conferences, etc etc.
I'm getting a dev account as soon as I get my phone A bit sad that hobbyist developers have to pay that much just to play around without publishing anything. Cause I know I won't publish anything until I get something really good done, and my work takes to much time for that to happen xD haha

Question Nothing phone will get custom or developer support

Hey developer
Nothing phone will get custom support or not
If they allow us to unlock the bootloader I'm sure there will be some development for it.
Carl Pei knows better than anyone that an easily unlockable bootloader and continued warranty after unlocking will be paramount to the success of this device. Without a strong community (read: us geeks) behind it, a new phone brand can't possibly become a worthy player in this field. Of course there will be developer support. The real question is: to what extent? Will it be OnePlus One level or rather something mediocre? Time will tell.
linuxct checked the firmware already. Bootloader seems to be unlockable
The Nothing Phone (1) bootloader can be unlocked using standard "fastboot flashing unlock" and "fastboot flashing unlock_critical". "fastboot flashing get_unlock_ability" should display whether the phone's bootloader can be unlocked (standard Android mechanism).

Not affects warranty for sure, like old OnePlus when Carl Pei was present.
If he permit easily root access (phone is root friendly) it's normal to keep warranty.
