Wow just got my Note 2. Bought if from Korgan. I had no problems at all with them. Heard some stories so I was a bit worried. Just fully charging the phone as I write this. Then it's time to root. I did flip out a bit when I tried to put my sim card in. Takes a micro sim. Never had one of them so on to youtube a few cuts later and the sim is now a micro sim. So I think the phone is wonderful. So big and beautiful. The screen dwafs my S2. Well I'm sad to see the S2 go but it is going to a good home. Any way hi to all here and I'm off to root my galaxy note 2 woohoo.
Nice one! I am waiting for 64Gb one
The speed of this phone is amazing. Id say thats the feature that blows me away.

the best phone that i ever use...:good:
Same as me..just bought it 2 days ago..1st impression, everything is responsive to me..soo smooth feeling

yeah the speed is just unbelievable, samsung has done a terrific job. It is so terrific that I stopped coming to xda and tweaking with my phone, just enjoying the apps/browsing/multimedia on this superb screen.
finally got my note 2 too today
Yep the screen is wonderful. Battery life is great. Put some episodes of Hell on Wheels on the phone to watch at work so nice. Have the Omega rom on at the moment pretty good like it lots.
I, too, am the proud new daddy,
of a tmo note 2. Amazing responsiveness, "buttery" as they say. And they do.
I'm not ready to root my new Note3. Not until the Knox-bit issue and full recovery back is there.
So, what is the benefit of the external SD card if you can't move apps there (non-rooted) ?
What should I move there, without ROOT ?
You can go into the application manager on the Note 3 and move a bunch of your apps there now even though it is not rooted! With the speed of this monster there is no reason why you would need to root. Also, if you already have the SD card in the unit when installing large games or apps, it is smart enough to automatically install the larger ones there anyway. This phone is freaking amazing!

Hmm, and have you checked that it IS saving it to ext SD?
What it does is send it to the internal SD . I have tried numerous times to do this,
and whilst it says your app is on the sd card not one byte shows up there whatsoever.
What is odd though is if you then take out the sd card it will tell you the app isn't installed.
Never the less nothing is ever saved to ext-sd , it goes to the emulated internal memory.
Useless
What tool are you using to measure the storage used?

Got to play with both today! The note 5 stylus is spring loaded and more hidden. Both have the same design as the s6. Glass front and back. Beyond that... It's essentially the same specs as the s6 with very minor improvements.

Ok, what was the point to release new note 5, if there is no big difference? Any new features like eye scan or maybe faster and better fingerprint recognition?
Worst new feature is no SD card support
This means I will never buy the Note 5.
Well, I for one think that the Note 5 not having any major changes from the Note 4 is a good thing. Why? Because you don't have to spend more money on a new phone, and if you can't afford a new phone, you don't have to feel like you're missing out on the newest gadget.

So do they have fixed batteries, what size, and no sd? Is the screen better than the note 4? Are they identical processors and memory?

If there's root for either of those 2 I'm getting it. Bye bye note 4
It's pretty much the s6 but bigger. Internal battery and same design. I have no idea about the SD card but I'm going to assume no. The rep has stated many times after the s6 launch that they had no plans of bring the SD card option back. Which I'm glad for. I worked at a repair center for years and 2 of the biggest problems we had were from people using 3rd party batteries and using an old SD card from their original epic or evo. Simply taking out the old SD card fixed nearly all their problems then switching their battery out with an OEM battery fixed everything else. Bad aftermarket battery's can and will cause your phone to freeze/lock up and perform power cycles. Usually after only a few minutes use. Using an old or class 4 or below SD card can and will lock your phone up and/or cause power cycles. Sucks the rest are being punished but its a very tiny community that even uses all of 32gb of the internal storage before getting a new phone or just the few bucks extra and get the 64gb model. Faster more stable form of storage.

Wow so no SD cards anymore?! As much as I love my note 4 I'm basically going to have to in the future look elsewhere to another brand that uses micro sd. Sorry Samsung but if I wanted an iPhone I would've bought one. So what are the choices when it comes to memory?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
The internal memory is sooooo much faster than even a class 10 SD card. Why not pony up for the 64 GB version and be done? Unless you like to keep several HD Blu-Ray rips or a plethora of high-end games on your phone, I can't imagine running out of space with 64 GB. I have a playlist of about 1000 songs, most at 256 kbps, and it uses about 9 gigs. Still lots of room when you have 64 gigs. Just my $0.02.
There are new pictures on verge. Basically a note 4 with a new frame. Honestly I can't see why i would move from a note 4 to a note 5. Cost for the equivalent of what I have, of based on s6 prices, is $1k. Better to get a g4 (for around $480 today) or keep the note 4.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using XDA Free mobile app
Oh and to be fair.. The rep said he could not confirm that the device I was holding was a note 5. He said he couldn't say what the real name was. He called the phone without edges "project noble" it could be the galaxy s6+. The other device was definitely/obviously the s6 edge+. Which he also couldn't confirm on the name. With both devices having the same exact design and same specs as the s6 then the note 5 could be a completely other device yet seen.

yeah but comparing the SD card in your phone is like comparing a USB drive to a computer. I'm constantly exchanging music, videos, pictures, and large size files with other devices, and friends. I also move gigs of files to and from my computer. I just pop out the SD card and place it in my other device, the SD card slot in my laptop, my tablet, etc.
also if worse comes to worse and I brick my phone, its the SD card that'll save me when I transfer a recovery to it.
the truth of it is there's no other solution that works nearly as well as having an SD card. and if you're someone like me whos on the go, and hardly ever touches a PC, SD card is so important.
I also trust my SD card much more.. if my phone were to break or get wet, everything inside is ruined, but if my pictures are on an SD card, while my phone is gone, my precious memories aren't.
SD card 4 life!
(also the Note series is a PRODUCTIVITY line, how could they ever scrap such a crucial thing for power users, and business travelers..)
no sd card and no removable battery. Definitely deal breaker. I am going to keep my note 4 for a long time.
They make USB drives for phones now. They have 2 ends. A micro USB end and a regular USB end for that exact reason. Way more reliable than an SD card.

My Samsung rep brought both devices in today and the edge device had a stylus. More than likely will be the note edge not the s6 edge plus. The rep told me with his time with these devices his battery life is about double the battery life of the s6. Definitely looking forward to this new note

Totally agree, i would imagine that if a permanent trustworthy non-chinese root method is attained on the Note 5 within first couple months of release then it will be definitely worth it, otherwise, I am dumping Samsung Note 4 and Galaxy Tab Pro for good, hello Moto or Huawei Nexus.
It's not samsung fault for lack of sd card support,
http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Google-SD-Card-Nexus-Smartphone,18841.html
But my next phone will probably be the sony xperia z3, since the z3+ doesn't have lte and I haven't seen anyone add the band's for att lte to it successfully yet
Also to the op,I used both phones, how did you not notice if there was or was not an SD card and how did you not notice the back of the note 5? It's not the same as the 6

It looks terrific to me, although I was hoping it would have a 7422 instead of a 7420. I never upgrade right away, though. I always wait until the price comes down. By that time, we'll know if it turned out to be a error in judgement on design or a lemon of a phone.

I was pretty much following it for kicks and giggles, just to keep track. I'm only a year into my Note4, which means I won't upgrade till Note 6ish anyway.
Put it in a case and it becomes a sub par Note 4
Note 4 all the way. I'll wait for something better.
If for any reason I would want to get the note 5, it would be because of the wireless charge fast charging. But it looks like sprint might be dropping spark, only LTE?

Same screen resolution, smaller battery with no Micro SD. I don't understand the direction Samsung is headed. Every phone I have ever had people complain about battery life. What's the solution with a internal battery? Constantly tethered to the wall or a huge ridiculous case with an extra external power source built in? Fail Sammy, fail.
I dont understand so many threads about this note 5 in a note 4 forum. I mean, personally im waiting for the new nexus device, im not going to make a thread in the note 4 forum tho.
Should probably take it to the note 5 forum instead.
Just my 2 cents.
It's one of the best ? out there

Yep that's pretty neat for sure.
There are a lot of things I like about the Note 5, and you CAN get a 128 GB model for Sprint, contrary to what many websites are saying. But I'm still not going to upgrade. Maybe when the prices drop, but I'll probably wait to see what the Note 6 is like. I never swap my battery and I don't care about missing the microSD card. I'd rather have the UFS 2.0 storage, so those things aren't holding me back. I'm just happy with my Note 4.
Well.. I like doing a battery pull when things get iffy. As far as having an SD card slot or not is not really a big deal to me. I have a Samsung 32g SD card now that's not even 1/3 full. Between Sirius /XM and Pandora I don't download a lot of music. I use my SD card for pictures and my necessary rooting/modding files. And with having a "cloud" to store stuff and thumb drives and USB cables the storage will still be endless. As with all other tech.. It evolves. My 2 cents..

Note followers never complained about built quality because our phones stay in cases. Galaxy followers wanted a android iphone so samsung gave it to them . But why didn't they just have a regular version with sd and removable battery and one with a higher built quality and they could have ditched the s6 plus idea until the s7 plus . That would of worked 4 months ago. Owell I'll get the s6 plus and if i don't like it wife might have a new phone. Note 5 don't do nothing for me atleast the s6plus bring something different. I'll see what apple do before i dive in they might surprise me but every year a disappointment.
I have a 200gb Sandisk micro SD card bought directly from Amazon in December.
I have used it in other devices with no issues.
I added 40gb music on card at weekend. I have 15gb photos.
Now in Samsung galley app if I delete more than 2 photos in a row , one after another, the app grinds to a halt.
I have reformatted card in phone as well before using it.
Has anyone had this issue yet?
If you have a 200gb card can you test of filled like mine for slowness?
Any suggestions please ?

You have no choice due to permissions. Only stock can delete photos taken by camera?
What other app would you recommend. ?
Quickpic, been using it for ages, I've got about 20gb of photos and it deletes them instantly.

Seems fairly nimble. Just lose all the editing features and other stuff from the Samsung Gallery app. Doesn't seem right. But hey ho.
Can't really suggest anything else, but if it doesn't lock up then surely it's better to give it a try.

i am experiencing the exact same issue! what speed do you have with your SD card? i am using a 64gb Class 10 SanDIsk and it is 90% full
i do not experience this issue with my old Sony Xperia Z2
Update. I bought 64gb and 128gb sandisk cards. All Class 10 and the fastest available. Once over 30gb full they all cause problems.
Lol this is why they removed the sd slot in the s6's cause of alot of people complaining of performance drops in previous galaxy's. They listen to demand and bring the sd slot back but of course there will be a lot of complaining of performance drop and then cycle continues lol

Obviously performance changes, but this problem is a specific Samsung issue. I can take any 3 of my new micro SD cards and use them in any one of my other phones without the same speed slow downs whilst deleting photos.

Change your photo location to internal storage, then you can delete pictures using Google Photos.
If your internal storage is filling up, time to enable adoptable storage.
I have the 200GB card and don't have issues deleting photos. Maybe its because I'm only using 42GB of space but have all my photos saving to the card and when I delete 2 or 3 photos at a time it takes maybe a sec or two at the most but does not halt or freeze up my phone. I guess I'll have to monitor it as I'm adding more files to it.
This problem seems to have gone away
