[Q] Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Charger - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi folks,
I happened to have lost my original charger for Samsung Galaxy Note 3, and all I have now is the USB cable. For emergency purposes, I need to charge my phone and it doesn't charge fast connecting to a PC. I do have an adapter for Samsung Galaxy S4.
Is it OK to use the USB cable on Samsung Galaxy S4 Adapter and charge my device? Or will there be a problem?
My phone battery is a 3.8 V Li-ion and 12.16 Wh
The Galaxy S4 adapter shows an output value of 5.0 V and 2.0 A

Thanks!

If that's hard ... can anyone holding a Galaxy Note 3 please post your output value mentioned on the original adapter?

It should be fine, most wall charges are fine. If you want faster charging you can make a charge only cable (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwKCXJc1iTc) and it will always charge at max speed. While this isn't good for your PC, it works perfectly for car chargers.
Any 5MV charger will work perfectly.

The official Note 3 charger is 5.3V - 2A, so using a 5V adapter will be fine, just a bit slower.
I use my old HD2 and S3 charger half the time.

using a 2A charger will be fine. 1A charger need double of the time

Hi,
I tested various chargers and usb cables, including the normal micro usb from the older devices, most of them works like a charm
Including my old OTG dongle (usb 2.0), I didn't yet compare the speed difference between both...

buy any chinese charger man it'll be a gud alternate for d original one

You can use pretty much anything.
I charge my Note 3 with the original one (5.3v/2A), I charge it with a Note 2 charger (5.0v/2A) and I charge it with an old Nokia charger (don't recall voltage but it is 0.8A). It will just charge slower, but otherwise works perfectly.

battery problem
recently I've bought a galaxy tab s 8.4 , but take too mach time (about 6 hours) to charging with it's stock charger (5.3 v , 2.0 A) , when i charged with note 4 charger (5 v , 2.0 A) , it charged normal (about 2.5 hours)
now i have two questions :
1. the note 4 charger is suitable for my device ? isn't bad for battery life ?
2.is it possible that the stock charger was fake !!!???

charging note with 0.7A instead of 1.0A

I've got my note today and the charger has output 5V and 1.0A
My galaxy s charger has 5V and 0.7A
Can I charge the galaxy note with the galaxy s charger? I know it will take longer but beside the charging time is there any other downside? can i damage my battery?
thx for help
I think you might mess up your battery stats if you used the galaxy s one first, but i think if you do the first 5 chargers from flat to 100% to get them right no reason why you couldn't use the galaxy s one. After all usb charging is slightly less output than mains.
thx alex

I use my GS charger most of the time
I dont notice much difference in charging time.
ONLY charging time is the diffrence. most noticable if gameing, navigating or streaming music via 3G+bt at the same time.

use micro USB to charge on note3

I know the note 3 uses the USB 3.0 with 2 slot. I am wondering anyone dear to try charging with the older cable which the micro usb? My coworks all use that cable. If it work i dont need to use the new cable hehe. Thank you for your information.
It is designed to be able to charge with the old cables as well, as long as it is microusb

I am using the note 2 accessories like dock, charging cable etc work note 3. All work perfectly fine. Samsung had done a great job at keeping compatibility with older dock ,cables etc for note 3.

The USB charger charges the phone faster. Also data transfer with a computer is faster as well.

The USB 3.0 & micro usb charge the phone at same rate. I have not found charging any faster. Data transfer yes is definitely fast when connected to a pc

Agreed, I thought I could use the usb to charge the phone quicker than usb2.0 but even if you activate the usb3.0 settings, charge time is still the same as 2.0. I.e. Ages! If you plug directly into wall socket, takes a few hours

the only difference with the new USB 3.0 microUSB adapter cable is that it transfer data faster when you use it
you can do everything the same with the regular USB 2.0 microUSB adapter cable, it's sooooo convenient, backward compatible with all the old devices
And it charges faster because the included charging dongle has an output of 2 amps.

Works perfectly fine, I've been using my old HTC HD2 cable (now there's nostalgia..) to charge it without issue.
The right slot of an USB3.0 socket is actually just a MicroUSB slot. It's the left pin that is the USB3.0 part.
l usethe old micro USB and it's working

The charging rate is the same as note 2 ( which also came with the 2 amp charger) . It takes about 2hrs and 30mins to go from 5% to full 100% charge.
Better yet buy an external OEM charger with a battery . Awesome!

Yes it is original and not a copy. Have 2 of them. But think they were the early release ones with MICRO USB charging port. The ones that arrived later ate usb 3.0

I use 2.0 exclusively to charge.
I don't have a usb 3.0 device.
I solved the battery issue by buying an oem
spare battery from Samsung here in the UAE.
Thing is the dock isn't out yet so I have to charge the first battery in the phone, then swap it with the spare battery & charge it in the phone.
It's a bit of a hassle because I have to make sure battery A is full charged, then plug in battery B before finally sleeping.

The one and only Note 3 ever released always had USB 3.0, hence it is not Note 3 OEM

I do not recommend using the supplied charger with the Galaxy Note 3
After using an older style micro usb 2.0 charger on my Note 3 I realized that the older Samsung charger either had lower amperage or voltage output than the supplied cable. The stock cable does charge very fast which seems awesome. But if u use a 2.0 cable it will take significantly longer to charge but you will notice the battery charge lasts A LOT longer! I NEVER use the stock cable anymore unless hooking up to a computer. I searched and searched and am suprised noone else has mentioned this.

[Q] Using different charger

I tried charging my Note 3 with a Nexus 4 charging adapter, which is rated at 5V 1.2A both input and output. But according to the Galaxy Charging Current app, the Note 3 is charging at 1.2A while the screen is on and 1.8A when the screen is off. So does this mean that the app reading is incorrect? Because this would be a correct reading if I were using my 2A Samsung adapter but it wouldn't make sense for the Nexus 4 adapter. Or is the Nexus 4 charger actually providing 1.8A even though it says 1.2A on the charger?

[Q] Some aftermarket chargers will not work

I have a couple 2 amp built-in wall receptacle 5V usb chargers in my house. They have charged everything I have ever owned just fine including my S4 that I just upgraded to an S5. For some reason, these chargers will not charge the S5. My car chargers and every other charger I own, some of which are not Samsung, still charge the S5. Does anyone know why the 5V wall chargers will not work? I have tried different cables too. Everything works fine except these wall chargers. Why would the S5 refuse to charge from them?
Weird. My old s4 charger works properly

So does mine. Like I said above, only the built-in wall USB recptacles do not work and I can't figure out why. They are good 2 amp models that charge anything else that I can throw at them.

Hi,
I am purchased a T-Mobile Galaxy S5 yesterday. The supplied charger works fine. But, I have 6-8 aftermarket micro USB chargers that I purchased from Best Buy (Rocketfish) that do not work. The transformers on those are 2.4 Amp. The transformers on the supplied Samsung chargers are 2.0 Amp. Could this be the issue? Is there any hack to make my aftermarket chargers work?
Did you ever resolve your issue?
my capdase dual charger is not working with galaxy s5
I've had a GS3, a GS4, and now a GS5. The 3 and 4 would charge with any USB charger. Only the charging rate would change. I did some experiments with an old cable and found that the thin wiring in the cable was the culprit of the slow charging. When you get a phone (or tablet) with a 2 amp capable charger, it will be supplied with a cable capable of carrying that much power without a large voltage drop. If you have a lightweight USB cable, the voltage drop in the cable itself will drop below the 4 volts needed at the phone for proper charging.
I have a couple of built-in wall outlet 2 amp capable USB chargers. They charged the S3, S4 and older tablets just fine. Now I have an S5 and just got a Samsung 10.1 pro tablet. Both refuse to charge from the universal 3 amp chargers. They will charge from only the original Samsung chargers or from my laptop. Samsung has changed something in their charging circuits recently. I think if they detect a non-samsung charger they just refuse to charge completely instead of just defaulting to a slower rate. Does anyone know if this is fact or a way I can mod my wall charger to work on the new Sammy devices? I don't mind slow charging.
A couple of my non-samsung chargers not only don't charge but actually drain the battery.
If it is a change then it's not recent. I charge mine from my 3-year-old S2's charger just fine.

Just wondering if you ever found a fix for this.
I just got a couple of these new "built in" charging outlets. My outlets are 5VDC 3.0A and they work fine with every other device I have except the Samsung Galaxy S5.

the same here... i have the capdase ampo r2 dual charger... it's able to charge my note 3 but note my note 10.1 2014 and my kid's tab 3 7.0... it has an output of 5v 3.1a (2.1a and 1a)... i'm pretty sure it's not a problem with the tablet coz it charges with i use their original samsung chargers...

[Q] Note 3 Battery charging Average Unit?

Hi,
I have a Note 3 N900 version. & I am on Love 89 2.2 Custom Rom
Thing is, My battery charge has suddenly gone down.
I mean it was working pretty well but since last night...it charges real slow.
& the Phone is not even a year old so m confused as to why this is happening.
I checked the charging Unit with Charging Report available on the Playstore & it shows as 300 for both Current & average.
May i know what should be the default charging unit.
Is this the cause from the Rom or the USB cable?
Thank you
Try charging it with an other charger and see if it still charge very slowly... (if you dont have another usb 3 cable, normal microUsb that all other android phones have, fit into the right part of the note3's usb 3 port)
