[Q] [Help] Need fix with disabled SMS on Nexus 7 3G - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sorry, I can't find the right thread in this forum. So I decided to create one. Can someone help me enabling SMS on Nexus 7 3G? I really need it to register prepaid promos (such as unlimited internet and sms) using my tablet.
Also, if it needs root... can someone help me with the process of rooting it using Windows 8.1 (I am having some difficulties in rooting my GNEX on Windows 8.1 too)? Please help me on this guys. Please.

Does somone know how to solve this issue?
When I trigger an email update on the phone I continually get a warning asking me if I am okay with using data while roaming?!?!?!
Does the phone automatically think I am roaming because it is Australian? Is there a Windows Mobile Setting somewhere where I can define that my home market is Canada?
Some help here would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks in Advance...

[Q] Auto Forward Text Messages 3G nexus 7

Hi,
I have recently been given a work phone and don't want to carry two phones.
I would like to keep my personal number so will continue that contract. I will set my carrier setting to auto forward calls to my work phone, but I would like a way to auto-forward SMS (text) messages to my work number, or email.
I have a nexus 7 3g and this seems like a good device to use as I can then still make use of my personal phone contract's internet access.
I installed the mms.apk app (thread found else where in this forum) and can now send and receive texts from my Nexus 7. But as it is not with me every day I want an automated way to get SMS messages to another number of email.
Does anyone know of an app which will let me auto forward SMS messages to a different number or to email? I'm happy to pay for the outbound message cost, but the only app I have found which *claims* compatibility is phoneleash and it does not forward anything.
Does anyone have a suggestion for how I can accomplish this?
Thanks
T.
You could just use an app that sends texts to the tablet like Cloud SMS. Then you could turn off the notifications on the phone.

Thanks for the reply, but I think I have not been clear with my request.
I have a personal contract which my friends know the number for.
I want to keep this SIM in my tablet but forward any SMS message sent to my personal number to a work phone, so that I can just carry the work phone.
I have found Auto SMS since my last update, but this is not compatible with the nexus 7. I will see if there is a way to get this app to work.
I will update if I get any further.
T.
have you try mighty text? try that one first

Thanks for the further replies here.
I don't think mighty text will work, it seems to be a way to read and reply to texts received on your phone, but handled by a tablet or computer as the viewing device.
I need a way to auto forward SMS messages to a different number.
Regards
Tony.
Progress
OK, I installed auto SMS onto my touchpad and then used titanium backup to extract the application.
I've side loaded this onto my nexus 7 and so far my tests have been successful.
The auto forwarded text messages come through as
<0123 123123> Mr FirstName SecondName: Content of message
I can either call the originator back, or switch to a new message and reply back directly via SMS from the work phone.
Thanks
T.

I have the same problem as you, but I can't find auto SMS or extract the application (Nexus 7 is my only Android device).
Can you please share it somehow?
Thanks in advance!
Edit: in meanwhile I found and installed it, works well

[Q] Samsung Focus i917 MMS issues

Hello, I have rev1.3 focus. I have been using a 32gb sandisk class 4 card for 6 months with no issues. I have been searching the web for days trying to find a work around for mms issues with this phone as the original software doesnt allow editing mms settings. i used this phone for one year with at&t but now i desire to use this phone with other carriers for obvious reasons.
I cannot for the life of me get it to send pic messages unless i use at&t service. I just updated the unit to wp7.8 via 78'er and i absolutely love the new OS. I understand that flashing a custom rom will make possible of what im trying to do but i want that to be a last resort.
Does anyone know if i use AIRVOICE or RED POCKET if i can send pic messages without flashing a rom? If anyone has any other ideas please post. this is any amazing phone to not be able to send and receive pictures.
There is no user interface on the v1.3 focus to change the MMS settings. Follow the guide here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25190553
If you are using Net10 as I am, you can substitute my Net10.xml for the StraightTalk.xlm
All you need is install the Samsung Network Tool from the Windows Store (Samsung Zone). Run it, and MMS should work.

[Q] Getting ALL settings to new Nexus 7

Hi there,
I just got a new Nexus 7, upgraded from 2012 32GB 3G to 2013 32GB WiFi. While I was able to get my apps over to the new Nexus, I am struggeling to get my system settings over. Basically the setup of the home screens, the welcome screen/login screen, the folders I had created on the homescreen etc.
Is there any way to get that stuff transeferred? A Backup/restore of some kind? Some sync?
Appreciate your help!!!
Best wishes

[Q] Backing up Texts/SMS before new rom

Hi All quick question. I'm planning on rooting my sisters Galaxy note 3 and installing this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2787627. She uses her phone for business and does not want me to proceed until i am able to back up all her text messages. Could anyone please provide me some direction on how to best do this ? I use a HTC one and backing up sms/mms has always caused a problem with my rom or just didn't work correctly so i don't know how that will all behave on a Samsung phone. Also If this is not possible is there a way to export the text messages to a Email or word document ? I'd really appreciate any support you'd be helping me out immensely since my sister will stop nagging me to do this
