[Q] LG Firmware Update Fails - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I installed TWRP 2.7.0.0 yesterday, and wanted to upgrade to KK. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2667714)
After wiping data, system, cache and so on, I realized that I forgot to copy the firmware zip to my SD card, so I tried restarting.
This is where the problems started. It just got stuck at the LG Logo. (10 Minutes of nothing) So I restarted TWRP and tried to send the file using ADB (sideload), BUT windows is not detecting the device correctly. In Device manager it is displayed as lg-d802 without drivers.
Since this did not work I booted into the firmware update mode (vol up) and even though the drivers are detected and installed, the LG firmware tool says that no device is connected. Drivers are shown as LGE AndroidNet USB Derial Port (COM6) and also LGE AndroidNet USB Modem.
Any further help would be really appreciated.
Thank you

After redownloading the LG Tools it started working. Must have been a corrupt download.

LG G2 all data wiped

Hi,
I'll did a factory reset with TWRP via advanced,by accident all partitions, including the internal storage partition.
Now my phone does nothing, but i''m able to boot in to TWRP.
When i'm connecting my phone to my computer i'll see a error with the driver. I'll installed the LG drivers from the website. But still see a error with the driver.
Error message: There is no compatible driver installed for this device.
I'll need to push a ROM to the phone, anyone a idea ?
Thnx in advance.
Device: LG G2 D802 International
From twrp you can mount usb storage (your sdcard or internal memory)

If you have a USB OTG cable, load ROM/gapps/etc onto a thumb drive and connect to your device. In TWRP, go to mount and select USB. Go back to main menu and select install. Scroll for USB and select files.
I'll solved the problem. I'll reinstalled the drivers, restarted my computer and the supporttool regonized my Phone again. I flashed the stock rom via downloadmode.
Thnx for your answer.

[SOLVED] [Q] [HELP] Stuck in Download MODE

My LG G2 d802 is stuck in the download mode and has no recovery. It happened when i flashed Miui 6 by gtbluesky after full wipe of data and system. Previously it was on cloudy 3.2 . After flashing the miui it wont boot and is in a bootloop on mi bootscreen. I tried but cannot boot into recovery seems like it doesnt have a recovery.
However, I can boot into download mode but it is not recognised in ADB nor Lg flash tool. I tried flashing kdz with the lg flash tool but it wont detect the device. I tried installing various drivers to the pc and also tried two different pc with windows 7. However, adb wont detect the device.
Regarding the drivers, the windows installs all the drivers but fails to install the LGE Androidnet usb modem drivers. If i manually try to install it from the lg drivers, it would keep installing and returns an error of timeout period expired.
So, i am stuck in the download mode with a bricked device.
If Someone could help me with this problem, i'll be much obliged. Thanks
SOLVED
[SOLVED] I downloaded the .tot file for my phone and extracted .dll from one of the .kdz & flashed it using the lg flash tool . It flashed good and now my g2 is up and running. :good:

Bricked LG G2, download mode goes on, but not working

Hello
I'm new here, I've been modding my lg a few times, always when bricked, kdz or tot files were saving me.
But now I've got real problem.
I was changing ROM from Cyanogen 13 to Cloudy 3.3. I thought I just need to flash rom via recovery (2.8.7.3 bump blastagator). Flashed fine, without any troubles, but when it came to reboot, phone just got stuck on LGs logo.
I knew i f*ed up.
Recovery isn't working, but Download Mode is turning on normally, at least it seems to.
So i tried to flash KDZ, but LG Flash Tool immedently shuts down giving "lg user...." error (don't remember what exacly it was saying).
Then i tried via tot files. But after installing drivers from tutorials, device isn't showed as "LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port", but as few positions like MTP device or usb serial port(but not in Com ports) and all are marked as devices without drivers. Flash tool for tot also didn't worked here, because it did't found device.
What can i do now? Please help me.
[Edit]
So now, using different drivers somehow Jelly Bean installed by tot method (device didn't appeared as tutorial said, but it worked) phone is booting normally, but i can't again install lollipop with kdz files.
I was trying 3 different drivers, every giving instant error of flash tool.
What can I do now?
[EDIT2] LGUSERCSTool.exe is crashing. How can I install lollipop now?
Are there tot files for lollipop?

SM-A500FU can't be detected by a PC, booting into recovery boots the system.

Hello,
I have installed a custom rom (Marshmallow) for my SM-A500FU through the adb. Now when I want to install a different rom I have to either boot into TWRP and I can't do that because booting into recovery simply restarts a phone, or I have to boot into Download mode and install it with the adb. The problem is that when the system is running, the phone simply charges, no Windows notifications or devices appear and when the phone is in Download mode Windows detects that a device is plugged in but can't recognize it. I have all the adb drivers, KIES and all that so it's not a problem. Can I somehow boot into TWRP or make Windows recognize my phone so I can use adb?
Thanks.
before installing a rom, have you wiped system, cache, dalvik and data? If yes try with a hard reset and if it doesn't work, too flash stock firmware
Hey,
yes, I wiped everything, I have flashed many roms earlier and I believe I have flashed it properly. I have managed to get into TWRP so I can actually flash FWs. I have only updated my rom to the newest CW13 build there is for my A5. Is there any way to flash a stock FW (for example a XEO KitKat) without ODIN? I can only use ADB through TCPIP and TWRP, so there is no way for me to flash it through ODIN.
Thanks.
so, if you press power+home+vol- it doesn't reboot in download mode, right?
It does boot into the Download mode. The problem is that when I plug the phone into my PC in Download mode it says that the USB Device is not recognized in Windows with 'A request for the USB device descriptor failed' error. When I plug it in when the phone is booted normally into android, it just charges, Windows doesn't see it at all.

Well, you can't flash samsung firmwares with twrp. Try flashing another rom through twrp
Alright, I have tried to flash multiple ROMs. Currently sitting on a Lollipop. Nothing changed, though. On every single ROM the problem still persists. It's not a problem with the PC as I've tried to connect my A5 to a laptop with freshly installed Windows and KIES and it behaved the same way as on my PC. The cable is fine as well, I have tested it with my old SGS3, it worked just fine on both my PC and laptop. Frankly, I have no idea what to do next, I'm starting to think that the port is physically broken. It's weird though, as I can still charge my phone and there is a response when the phone is in Download mode, just that Windows can't recognize it.
Try with adb command "adb reboot recovery" if it doesn't work you can downlaod odin mobile from play store and flash stock firmware!
Do you have odin for windows ?

Yes, ihlf his device can boot he can use mobile odin. Have you tried with other PCs, just to see it isn't a problem of your pc?
In my experience usb device descriptor errors are related to the specific PC the error occurs on due to device driver conflicts, but if you get the same error on another pc then it could be the hardware.
I'd certainly be trying another cable first on a fresh PC.
Anyway regardless of all that you can flash the stock firmware with FLASHFIRE available on play as long as you have root.

Uninstalled root, now stuck in a boot loop, and windows not recognizing s8.

Hello,
I rooted my s8 a few months back, and recently had no use for it, so decided to uninstall it.
I uninstalled root from Magisk Manager (I tapped the Uninstall button after opening the app), and it restarted my phone. That's when the boot loop started.
My phone kept on showing the Samsung logo, but I could open the TWRP recovery screen.
I tried to follow some steps and flash the stock firmware onto my Samsung, but windows refused to recognize my s8, telling me that the "USB device is not recognized". and that the "Last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned". So I'm basically screwed. I should also mention that I also have access to the Download screen.
Is there any way to send the firmware over to my phone without connecting it to my laptop?
Thanks!

A few things you could try :
In recovery :
wipe cache,/dalvik.
Reinstall magisk and see if it boots. If it does then flash the uninstaller through TWRP.
Factory reset
Flash full firmware with Odin.
With the error on windows I have had this issue because of the USB lead try a different one and make sure your Samsung drivers are up to date.

Hey!
I wiped the cache/dalvik and factory reset, but it still put my phone in boot loop.
As for reinstalling Magisk, I have no idea how to do that since I have no access to the Magisk zip and whenever I search in the Install section of the TWRP menu I cant find it either.
Also, my Samsung drivers are up to date, and I even bought myself a new data cable but windows still shows the error message, so I cant flash stock firmware using Odin.
What should I do?

To re-install magisk you will need a SD card. Put card into PC copy files ( magisk zip, magisk app and uninstaller ) from this link below then put the card back into the phone. Flash magisk zip in twrp or try the uninstaller zip.
https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases
As for the PC issue without seeing the pc it's a bit hard to diagnose.
Others things you could try;
Re-install latest Samsung drivers ( and reboot PC )
Make sure you are plugged directly into a USB 2 port on PC ( no USB hubs )
Try another USB lead ( I know you bought a new one )
Try another PC ( will need Samsung drivers )
Also since you have done a factory reset does TRWP still read you data partition ( a factory reset will re-encrypt your phone )
