Ok, friend of mine has the LS980 (Sprint G2). Got my SGS3 today and got CM11 on it, he decided he wanted CM goodness. So, I rooted with IO method, no issues. Couldn't find anything about a bootloader needing unlocked, but found a CWM installer using FreeGee (because I had the VBA[?] OTA upgrade, needed a different aboot, and FreeGee does this automagically) in these forums. Cool, so I did that. Rebooted to recovery, performed nandroid, wipe data/cache/dalvik, flashed CM11, rebooted. Got a boot loop, stuck at the LG logo, rebooting indefinitely. Wiped data and cache a few more times, still doing it, so I restored, and rebooted. Now, it wont boot. Holding power does nothing. Holding VOL-UP or VOL-DOWN and power, does nothing. If I plug it into USB, theres a red flashing led next to the top speaker, but it wont charge past 0%, and still, nothing.
Have I bricked it? How would I go about doing this?
I should have known this would be a pain. Tried to do my brother's G1 a while back, and it was the biggest pain in the arse

He has sprint not att
Ok, so I was able to get booted back. It went right to the restored stock/rooted, but it's still boot looping when I flash CM11. I re-downloaded CM11 and gapps, re-flashed CWM. Maybe I'll try the manual aboot flash and flash recovery with flashy, or whatever tool it was, see if that helps.
When the device is powered off, hold volume up and plug the device into the usb cable that is connected to the computer. If download mode comes up then you can return to stock by using this.

That's how I was able to get back to stock I'll start another thread for the CM Boot Loop issue.
Fixed
Ok, I fixed the CM bootloop. Apparently, the modem from the ZVA OTA breaks AOSP ROMs, so I flashed the Furnace kernel, and the issues are completely resolved. I knew it had to be something simple, and I had a hunch that it was because of the ZVA update, and I was right. Thanks for the help, G2 bros and broettes. I'm going back to my Samsung world

I installed Asphalt 8 on the G2 only to find out the graphics settings only go up to low. I looked for a fix, and found I could get access to high graphics by changing the model in the build.prop file. I think I must've entered another model nuumber for a supported phone wrong somehow, rebooted and now it's in a bootloop with the LG Logo. Can I change the build.prop WITHOUT wiping it and installing a fresh stock ROM? I'm rooted and have TWRP & Busybox.
check the location of build prop then crate a buildprop cwm zip. U can reuse one fron another device. However put in correct buildprop and correct location of this on device in the script, then flash though recovery. It should boot then. Edit it in notepad++ though.

That'd be great, except I don't know how to get to twrp! I can't get a usb connection either.

that I also dont know as I am not rocking custom but stock.
in many threads there speak about how to get into recovery. Go search at least the kernel thread where you got it from

Try holding Power+Volume Up.
If that fails, go to download mode by holding Volume Up while you insert your USB cable. Follow the instructions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476

I fear that during a boot loop there is little you can do.
And, as the battery cannot be removed, you need to wait for the battery to die! Then you power on to TWRP.
Power + Volume Down until the LG logo disappears and appears again. Let go of Power+Vol Down for a moment and press them back again. Should bring you to a white screen asking if you want to factory reset your phone. Press Power button to confirm and it should then bring you to recovery.

I've done something bad to my phone (tried to do a factor reset from within TWRP) and now I'm trying to get out of a boot loop myself... When I do the Power+Down trick to rest, it doesn't safely enter recovery and wait for me to do stuff, it launches some sort of recovery/reset script and reboots into my boot loop again.
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I was on stock firmware, rooted, with TWRP 6.3.2.1.

You don't have to wait until your battery dies in order to shut down from a bootloop. If you hold all three buttons down, it will force shut down your phone. Not sure how long you have to hold it, but I believe you hold until after the LG logo disappears for the second time. It worked for me yesterday after I bootlooped my phone when I mistakenly enabled Thermal Daemon Mitigation instead of High Temperature Property in the Hidden Menu (don't ever do that). I'm not rooted, so I'm not sure if the function still works the same, but if you can get into TWRP after the phone is shutdown, then I believe that's the only way to do it.
so this morning I tried to install xposed on PacMan 4.3. I installed it and it said to do a soft reboot.
after the soft reboot i am now stuck on the PacMan boot graphic.
I can't get into recovery any which way.
I have tried the power down to get into recovery and it just reboots.
I am now in download mode connected to my computer but want to know what to do get back into the ROM and if its possible to do a nandroid so I don't lose my texts/phone logs/app data.
You may be forced to go back to stock and start from scratch. If recovery isn't working then you can't really do much to fix the issue. What's the model?

anyway to get into recovery via abd to backup info?
also why would xposed mess with recovery?
Getting into recovery will leave you with what options since your bootlooping? Wiping for a fresh install or trying to reboot for a another vicious cycle? Either way your going to lose texts app data and phone logs. Unless you have a backup your hiding from me? Lol
To get into recover
Try holding volume down + power*
Immediately when LG appears let go of both and ONLY hold onto power, should boot into option to factory reset*
Hit power button 3 times to continue, then itll load into recovery

I got stuck in a bootloop last week as well and had to do a factory reset (on my Moto X). Good reminder to move my backups to my computer...
There was just an update (2.4.1) to the Xposed installer that says it "Fixed a bootloop which mainly occured on some x86 ROMs," so hopefully that fixes it.
Hi all,
Heres the run down.
I was on CM nightly (latest so 2-11-13) CWR 6.0.4.4 Loki enabled.
Tried installed AOKP without full wipe , full wipe was hanging at wiping cache.
AOKP installed and nothing was working, not even internal storage.
Used CW to restore to old back of CM. everything is back to normal but still no bootloader!
did adb command and clicked boot into bootloader on recovery.
Its LG logo for about a minute, than restarts booting back into CM..
Is there a way to get bootloader back tho?
At this point a full system restore would make sense. And also in case I want to send it in for warranty.
I think its bc i flashed this

Sorry dude, youve flashed the wrong file and now I think you might have lock seized your bootloader. Take it to LG service, thats the only option left to you.
So I'm rooted with TWRP loki and had CM 11 on and running for a while. I just downloaded the latest nightly through CM OS and it asked to be rebooted.
Upon rebooting to TWRP and installing the update it then just kept on trying to reboot with the CM logo. I cannot get the power and volume keys to boot it to recovery and my computer won't recognize it in this state to boot into recovery.
Any ideas??!! Please! I don't know of any way to restore it.

I had to take the back off and manually unplug the battery to turn it off. Then I tried the button combinations posted *power and V down* when LG logo comes on repeat to get to wipe screen. However, the phone did not go to the wipe screen, it just rebooted again.
If I could get it to boot to recovery I'd be golden.

Error due to low batter. I'll have to see if I can charge it without it wanting to turn on. However, it looks promising -- after three times trying I got the utility to recognize the device at least!
Either way, I appreciate the assistance.

great to see everythings up and running
Short version: Phone is boot looping at LG logo and when I try to volDown+power into recovery it gets to the factory reset prompt and I press power twice but nothing ever loads and the backlight just stays on. I'm guessing I no longer have a functioning download mode either because of the way these flashable bootstack zips we've been using on the VS980 ROMs mention that they disable download mode, so I probably can't use LG Flash Tool either. Bricked?
I had been on CloudyRom 1.3. I switched back to xdabbeb's VS980 ROM, the newest version with the 25B bootstack. As many people ran in to, for some reason after coming off of Cloudy, KnockOn doesn't work on other ROMs. I had tried to do this hidden menu trick to update the touch screen firmware which some people reported got the KnockOn working again. Long story short I was having trouble getting the hidden menu trick working while on the xdabbeb ROM, I went back to Cloudy ROM and tried to do it but that didn't fix it either. I saw people having success by going back to a purely stock ROM and doing the hidden menu trick from there.
Here is where I probably messed up, I had a backup from April of this year that I didn't have labelled/named well but I was certain it matched up with the last time I had probably been on a purely stock ROM when the VS980 finally got KK earlier this year, a backup I had made for the convenience of ever having to return to stock. I tried to restore this and that's where the trouble happened. At the time I figured worst case scenario would be that the baseband wouldn't match up and I wouldn't get a signal, but in hindsight I'm guessing it wasn't safe to try to restore this after updating to different bootstacks. Original KitKat rom was 24a I believe but I had just recently updated to 25B to use the newest xdabbeb ROM.
I saw a small ray of hope when I calmed down enough to remember the voldown+power sequence to get into recovery, but after reaching the factory reset prompt and pressing power twice to continue, nothing ever loads and the backlight just stays on, like my recovery is gone now too I guess.
And in a comedy of errors I'm guessing I no longer have a download mode that would allow me to use the LG Flash Tool through PC because these flashable bootstack files always mention that they disable download mode and I never worried about restoring it.
So, bootloop, can't get into recovery, probably can't get into download mode to work with LG Flash Tool.
Screwed? :crying: :crying: :crying:
Yeah, volUP + plug into PC just gets me fastboot mode.
Don't really understand why my recovery is gone, thought the button sequence to get back into recovery was the safety net to this entire thing and why I wasn't too worried. Was running TWRP.
I'm at the mercy of checking the internet when I have access to another computer because my phone was also my internet access on my home PC. Hoping someone can help. : (
