[Q] Latest firmware. Locked bootloader rooted. Flash failure on reboot - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the latest firmware. Rooted from the exploit in February. Tried to flash something to my RAZR before I read you basically can't with the latest firmware. Now everytime I normal reboot I have to hit all three buttons and select normal power up is there anything I can do to fix this. I tried to flash a boot animation which failed. I can't remember what I initially tried to flash. Thank you.

Please enlighten me. Are you using a browser? Do you not see my signature button? Or the header link Droid Razr M. Next click gets you to general section. Then 1st thread on page.
If you are using tapatalk (or xda app is same) that is your impediment. Get a browser.

I would be very careful with this. Please do some research before flashing.. there has been some reports of soft-bricking. The file will not flash with TWRP or CMW and needs the stock recovery. Also, you will need to do some extra work to get a custom recovery working and root.

Ohai, thanks for linking to my article. I've written a follow-up, complete with today's OTA, as well as how to apply it via stock, unrooted, and official firmware running stock recovery.
Nice so can we get a bootloader unlock please

I am pretty certain that ship has sailed. Moto caught on to the exploit before and fixed it with an update, and KK is much more secure than any prior software. I highly doubt another exploit is going to be found.
For all my 9.30.1 people, I love you guys too.http://pan.baidu.com/s/1eQimdea
Enjoy that official KK ota for 9.30.1 over that slow ass chinese server and stop trying to get the 9.18.94 to work.

Has anybody with stock, unrooted 9.30.1 actually used the file in this link? I'm getting a bit impatient waiting for the OTA. LOL
EDIT:LOL I had to remove the link from my quote because I have less than 10 posts.

New OTA update - BuIld LMY47X.G928CXXU2A0J5 blocks recovery and root on G928C

Guys I have a G928C model which just received an OTA update of some 150MB. I can confirm that it is a fresh update which came today.
After updating I tried flashing custom recovery following the method mentioned on [HOW TO] Rooting Flashing Custom Recovery & Kernal thread. Odin fails to flash recovery, stock recovery remains. Other two images are of me trying to flash the older stock rom which gives another strange error.
Please help me out.
Did you enable the option oem unlock in developers options?
OEM unlock and usb debugging were on
MD5 of the files were ok? I assume you have the kernel/recovery specifically for your device.
No issues with MD5, kernel or recovery. Was running the device with custom recovery, kernel and root before i went back to stock and updated it OTA.
It is mentioned a few times that J5 is NOT downgradeable, so no chance to go back to you old rom!
and, if i remember right, it also has been mentioned that J5 blocks custom recovery! search in the general section!

Run the ruu I posted. Flash twrp and then supersu and you are done. Will not wipe nor change your s-off status.

Can I not just run the update ? Probably not since I'm running twrp right ?
I'd like to update with out wiping . Is this possible ?

Gotcha . I saw ruu and automatically thought it will wipe . Sorry . Thanks for your help
So the one Andy posted that you linked to above or the one in your " latest firmware post" . They may be the same I'm not sure

Either way will work. Andy's way is most likely is no wipe, no recovery so you'll still be on what ever rom your using now and twrp. Dottat ruu will give you the latest stock rom and stock recovery, it won't wipe but you'll have to reflash twrp, reroot, and if not staying on stock rom, you'll have to reflash your current Rom also.
I prefer the ruu and also keep the ruu as a emergency backup

The RUU that is posted won't wipe Internal memory.
It is certainly reccommended for a nice clean setup, but at the time same you could just flash the firmware (which is basically the firmware goods without the stock ROM) certainly wont, I thought you may be on a custom ROM so I suggested the firmware (I should have asked, my apologies), which you'd flash real quick and boot back to your ROM.
As for taking the actual OTA on your device, I'll have to look that up for step by step how to do that, I haven't done it yet so I'm not 100% sure the process. but we got some great guys in here for help, so we'll be good.

That link you posted firmware only, or does it have a system image too? On a custom ROM so I'd rather not flash over it, though updated firmware would be nice haha.

Is it safe to upgrade to TWRP 3.0.2?

Hi there.
Is anyone here using TWRP 3.x? I'm still on 2.x, since I read of lots of problems with newer versions of the recovery on this device, but I'd like to upgrade now. Can anyone give me some feedback?
Thanks in advance
It works but as with multiple posts not with Aroma.

I see no reason to update if u have no issue on 2.x. sometimes upgrade is just a no go.

Try it.. It totally a new design You can revert back, if you don't like it.. By flashing the image through the new twrp itself.

If you're trying to downgrade, it means that you've flashed TWRP.
If you've flashed TWRP, it means that you already know how to flash a custom recovery.
If you already know how to flash a custom recovery, then this is EXACTLY the same thing. Just pick an older version of TWRP and flash it the exact same way you would flash any version of TWRP.
And if you don't even know how to do that, google is your friend.

flashfire to update via ota?

Has anyone successfully used flashfire to push an ota update to their g4 plus? I'm currently on mm, rooted via SuperSU, xposed, elemental kernel, and twrp. Also can't for the life of me find where the ota downloads to lol, also if flash fire works, should you first uninstall xposed, and revert back to stock kernel? Thanks

In Any Case If You Want to Install an OTA you will need Stock Recovery and I Would Say if want To Upgrade to Official 7.0
Use the Fastboot Method as It Will Override all your Mods like Xposed and EX Kernel ETC. Otherwise you May Get Some Issues
