Theres the standard 4.4 one on Play Books, not sure how relevant it is to TouchWiz though. Don't think there would be that much difference in JB to Kitkat user guide for I9505.

I just got a reply from Samsung Customer Services saying that they're still getting it ready, and it should be available within the "next fortnight"

Omega

Hi,
Looking to either purchase S4 or One (probably what everybody debates). Looked at the Omega 5.0 thread and saw that we are on the 5th release for "final stock firmware"? I am on AT&T in the US and was just wondering, where exactly are these firmwares coming from? OTA? AT&T is VERY slow with updates so you may forgive me for my confusion. All these firmware updates are 4.2.2 so is it just bug fixes? Not really following (I'm currently on a S2 Skyrocket and we've only had 2 updates like ever from GB to ICS to JB and that took literally YEARS)
Thank You!

Hello,
My S4 I9505 4.4.2 LUX keeps restarting frequently
I reinstalled the official 4.4.2 LUX with ODIN... same problem
I am thinking of downgrading to 4.3
I am currently downloading 4.3 LUX, but it takes many hours at 10 - 20 KB/s for a 1.5 GB ZIP to download... unless I want to pay for a faster service :silly:
I find it unbelievable of Samsung of NOT SOLVING the 4.4.2 S4 restart problem.
Unbelievable that the android S4 versions 4.2.2, 4.3, 4.4.2 are not available on an official Samsung service site!!
So I am thinking/hoping that a German or UK version of 4.3 is available for faster download (MEGA, ...)
A not so happy Samsung customer,
Ivy

Sites like http://samfirmware.com/ and http://sammobilecom/ are official.
Don't downgrade to 4.3 version, unless you don't mind to trip knox flag.
Instead of it, try to do a factory reset and see if the problem persists, if so go to a service center.

I did a factory reset and the problem still persists.
I had a chat with the Samsung "support" and they do not know about the problem...
Just google: random-reboot-problem

As pfbatista mentioned it is not OK to downgrade to 4.3.
So, I will try another country and more recent 4.4.2.
I am downloading a German DBT version: I9505XXUGNG8_I9505YBTGNG8_DBT
Hopefully my S4 will stay alive and not restart every now and then with this version...
I keep you posted
ivybec,
I found this http://www.technobezz.com/fix-samsung-galaxy-automatically-restarting/
Maybe you could try one of these methods?
Do you know if the problem also affects the I9500 (Exynox)?

Hello Marcello,
Thank you for the link!
I didn't know this site.
Right now I am re-installing 4.4.2 and hope for the best.
If the restarts continue, I will try one-by-one the proposed methods.
I don't know if the problem is also on I9500.
Rgds,
Ivy
I did not have any unwanted restarts anymore

Hello,
Since my re-installation of android 4.4.2 (black edition = latest version?) a DBT (German free version) instead of the Belgian LUX (Belgium free version), I did not have any unwanted restarts
Maybe the new version (black edition) solves some problems (I don't see any difference with my previous version though)
Or, this time, I flushed caches and the S4 was reformatted... that probably solved the problem.?
Kies 3 sees the DBT version as genuine
Hopefully the end of my Samsung misery,
Ivy

Where u get the official? Leak?.. Where u found it
It may be based off Android 5.0, but it sure as hell isn't official. Sammobile does not have an Android 5.0 ROM in its database for the 9500, and the 9500 would be unlikely to receive an upgrade before the most common model, namely the 9505. This could be a leak, but even then it wouldn't be labeled as official. Official is reserved for releases, not internal test versions.
I'm sure someone will get duped into installing this, and then we can find out which ROM this actually is.
This is official leaked by Chinese operator released this version on a blog, I installed and verified.
Just flash via odin as PDA.

Please check it before calling it a dupe.
By calling it official you are duping everyone. This is a pre-release ROM, NOT an official one. Thus, the title of this thread and the name of the 7-zip file need to be changed to reflect that it is not official. That said, I can't check said ROM out, because I don't have an I9500. The screenshots look legit, but it's far too easy to fake a ROM. And we're talking the Chinese here, for whom counterfeiting phones has become an art form.
Until I see real, tangible evidence from a developer on this forum that this thing is real, I call shenanigans.

I trust him more than I trust you. Your reasons for posting are irrelevant to the facts at hand, which are that your thread labels this ROM as official, when it isn't.
Remove the word "Official" from the title of this thread.

FYI - I am based in the UK and my Note 8.0 has very surprisingly updated to 4.4.2 - first update in ages and very odd that it should be Kitkat and not something more up to date.
IMO, i am happy with each update of kitkat. Since the end of jelly bean, google has bollocks upped with each version.
Finally after a few years trying to get kitkat just right, I am able to. Now with the latest update, I am sure the few issues I still deal with will be corrected and finally have a smooth kitkat.
Can't say that for LP, MM, and New-guts. New is not better IMO if it is wonky and filled with security flaws. Plus I don't see any improvement across the board over kitkat. Kinda like do peeps like dealing with cheeky google? I just don't understand them, as much as they don't understand me. HA!
I didn't think about how long these file hosts take... so I recommend to use SamFirm to download your firmware. It is fairly new, and I suggest searching online for sites to assist with setup and function before finding a download. That is why i do not have a link or have posted a download attachment.
Small list of still active vulnerabilites after being fully tested.
Media server, Serialization, and stock browser.
I assume we may see another release of updated kitkat firmware late next year.
It does not bother me, having only two issues active. As for stock browser, who uses it anyway? I don't!
Why are you so happy with a 4.4.2 release of kit kat? Our Note 8.0's could easily handle Nougat...Right? So... help me understand, Why I with an ATT sgh-i467 should be content with my update, but not upgrade to something more.

If you're really dependant on your Note 8, you could upgrade to a Tab A with S Pen. These are currently running 6.0.1. I doubt it'll get Nougat, but maybe Samsung will release the S3 in a 8" form factor...

Because It works, no issues, and not effected by security issues since LP.
Also I have customised my 4.4.2 to be more robust like a tab 4, without relying on a customized build with issues.
So far I am the only one with a truly functional customised firmware that I am happy with.

I can't due to limits placed by ROM developers. As i had to mix 5 different ROMs to obtain what I have.
You can get a nice look by using the system ui. Though to get chrome to close when its tab closes, stock S5 libs have chrome customisations lib and some chrome cast drivers.
Plus some system apps to make gallery more robust.
I gave up on spen menu, as it did not bring much versatility since I removed stock browser because of it being unsecured with malicious scripts, and scrap book with smart clip just eat too much resources for what they are.
Can't remember which ROM I grabbed a cool one off flashbarservice app. The drawer is like the jelly bean version with a pull out tab and single row. Plus the short cuts are mini.
Using the tab 4 touchwiz and keyboard (that has left and right cursor control), though you loose automatic handwriting mode when spen is detached. It now becomes manually switched with the settings key.
I swapped out a secsettings app to allow access to default applications, as Samsung killed it in 4.4.2 for Note 8.0.
I enabled color blind, interaction control, grey scale, and accessibility shortcut menu. Though I can't have the shortcut menu activate or deactivate without a reboot.
Though the i467 has the features in the stock ROM, so obtaining the latest AT&T ROM, you can copy the system apps to allow some cool accessibility features developers over looked.
If I had permissions to allow copying and distributing custom apps and a few custom libs, i would as a complete ROM. But that is only half of it. I am not an android developer, and have no tools to properly create a flashable ROM to distribute.
