a few questions...

I'm using a:-
XDA II
ROM: 1.66.00WWE
RV: 1.08.00
which i bought 3 days ago.
I've read the manual a few times and i have a few questions,
1. i downloaded an mp3 from my desktop, when choosing the ringtone, i can't seem to find the file anywhere. what happened?
2. i installed active sync 3.7.1 as a standard partnership. i can share everything except the contact and a few others. when choosing to share, there are no checkbox next to the contacts. ?!?
3. sometimes, after i entered the number and the sms text into a new msg which is to be sent as an sms, i can never seem to send it. the screen will remain in the new msg window. and if i were to exit, it will be saved in the draft. everytime i click onto the send button, the 'envelope' just flew and the mobile number shifts to the right and thats it. ?!?!?!?!?
hope some helpful soul out there could gimme a hand on this
thanks

You need to go to settings, system, add ring tone, and add it as a ringtone. This moves the mp3 to \Windows\Rings.

Do you have Microsoft Outlook (not Outlook Express) installed?

Did you make sure to choose the SMS account?
outlook, no... but its not outlook that i need, i basically need the contacts to be in my laptop, thats all.
yes, i've verified many times that it is an sms account...
when in the 'add account' section, i noticed that the SMS has a asterix before it = { *SMS }
does this have got to do with anything?
also
in the windows folder, there is a few files named "MsgQueueMapFileMicrosoft Notification SMS Protocol (Reiceive Only)" and a few others with similar names
what does this mean?
is there something wrong with the settings ?
could the "receive only" thing be the problem that caused me to be unable to send sms msgs ?
how do i undo that ?

ActiveSync needs outlook for that, whether you need it or not.

The asterix means SMS is the default account.

That's normal, it uses those "files" internally. I have those too.

Could be.
Which SMSes does it NOT send? Only replies to certain people? Only new messages? Does it send replies sometimes/always, but new messages never?
Check Settings(Personal settings)| Phone|Services tab| Voice Mail and SMS(get settings..)|SMS service center

No, that's not it.
new problem
ok
i've solved the previous problems and its all cool now
nothing a hard reset cannot do ;p
but a new thing just showed up
actually its been bugging me since i bought it
here is how it goes:
when the phone idles for a time period, no one can call in
there is no indication whatsoever when this problem occurs
the only way i found out abt it is when the ppl who tried to call me screwed me when i met them earlier
and the only way to resolve this is tru soft reset
can anyone explain what is happening?

Would be nice if there was a reg key that could keep it on my SC, same as my camera's pictures and videos go to my SC...

This doesnt solve the problem, it gets deleted in every 5 days(i.e, it doesnt keep the data for more than 5 days)

If this is not the solution, and data gets deleted after 5 days.
Then what is the solution that the data is not deleted.

Well, if it is really important, you could extract the log (an .xml file) into mysql or something.

How to delete all the sent messages in a faster way if you have lots of them??

My problem is the following...
I have lots of sent messages saved in my device, and I can't not save them, but after some days, they aren't usefull for me anymore....
How can I delete all them in a single step, without select all and erase them?
If you have lots of messages you have to do this procedure lots of time...
So.. Is there a way/cab/app which can delete all the sent messages automatically (in a single step)??
Thank you......
use pim backup
backup your pim and restore without check the sent items box
cheers

But is there anything easier and faster?
So you're looking to delete groups of messages? Is there something to this that would prevent you from just shift clicking to select them? That's what I do.
Or to delete all messages (obviously this is done from within the sms application):
Menu/Tools/Clear
Menu/Tools/Empty Deleted Items
Are options I use frequently
If you're using poutlook, this might help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=260761

if you have 100 messages, you can't select all in once...
you have to select some of theme, delete them and repeat this operation again and again...
something like "select all" doesn't exist on my Touch..
go into the sent messages folder and open the on screen keyboard, press ctrl+a.
/or are you just trying to delete something like half of the sent items? in that case the shift click is all I've got to offer.

MANY THANKS!!!
This is just what I was searching for!
Fast and simple....
No prob., and if you're trying to select just the oldest then you can select the top one and then press and hold the shift key and then press and hold the down arrow until you reach the bottom of the list. The upside is that this doesn't use the on screen keyboard (if you don't have a ctrl key on the physical keyboard).
You can also press and hold (with stylus or finger) on the first message in the list and slide down until all messages are selected, but i guess the quickest way is really as CRE said with the onscreen keyboard.

Infact this is the way I used to do....
Now I'll use CRE's method... FOREVER!
but i think if u dont want to save theme , just unstick " save the sent messages in folder "
so everytime u send a message it wont save automatic in sent folder . thats it

Annoying "129" text msg after reboot

Every single time i reboot the phone, i get the "129" text msg with blank content. It has the little memory card symbol. I think i click save to memory card by accident one time. I tried clicking move to phone and delete it right after. It didn't work. anyone has a solulation?
Yea its a stock message preloaded on the memory card. Easiest way is to push and hold select "move to phone" then repeat and just delete it. Next time your phone boots it should be gone -Cheers
What I've seen has to do with that "129" message being saved on the SD card. Once I found it and deleted it, I stopped getting it on every reboot.

i'm still getting it!!!!
Took my sim card out and reboot. Still got the text msg.
Try popping your SIM into another phone that can read the text messages on the card, and delete it from there. Other members with the HD2 have reported having to do that to get it to stay deleted (the HD2 seems to have an issue with that).
The one time I called TMO support about 129 was a couple of years ago, on a $35 nokia pre paid phone. At the time they explained that it happens when a text message either doesn't immediately go/come through.
I get it occasionally on the HD2. I just delete it.
I delete the text msg and shut off the phone. Before turning it on, i remove the memory card but i still get the same text msg.
I just had this pop up when I upgraded to the T-Mobile 2.13 ROM. The way I permanently got rid of it was to delete it normally (from the Inbox) AND go to All Messages, select Deleted Messages, and delete it from the Deleted Messages.
It seems because it is a "system" message it gets stored to the SIM, and if you just delete it from the SMS inbox it comes back since it is still in the Deleted Messages folder, and the SIM must restore it after a reboot.
Deleting from both places made sure it was gone for good.

[Q] Getting rid of SIM messages in Messaging

I put Windows Phone 7 on my HD2 last week, and I swear while I was setting it all up there was an option to show or not show SIM messages when looking in Messaging.
However now I am using the phone regularly I can't find it any more! Every time I reboot the phone, the SIM messages are loaded higher up the list than my actual text messages which is really frustrating because it makes it hard to see my current conversations.
Does anyone know where the setting to stop it showing SIM messages is?
Thanks!

Try deleting one of them, and if it is not deleted from the sim, the check box might appear again on next reboot. Else delete what you don't need
Interesting that you can import messages from sim but not save to sim, how many messages are there?
i think what you've seen whilst setting up the phone was the message "import sim contacts now" and not sim sms... there's no setting about that in wp7 afaik
I think there are about 20 or so SIM messages. I deleted one and it went away, but didn't give me any more options to delete any others and the rest of the SIM messages are still there.
Obviously I could just delete them all but I find it annoying there is not the option to just hide them from the messaging view or something.
