[Q] 3g and 4g Signal lost when screen off - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
First, some information about my phone :
I9505 LTE
OLD Bootloader (and I want to keep it)
Modem tested : ME2 and MDF
Operator : Bouygues France
ROM : SHOstock-i v5.0
My problem now, since the installation of KitKat, I can't shut off my screen without loss my signal, but I only lost the 3g and 4g, when I force 2g only, I don't lost the signal. 3g and 4g are fonctionnals when my screen is on, everything work, I can call, send SMS, have mobile data (in 2g, 3g and 4g), but impossibe to shut off my screen without signal lost....
So should I try an other modem (if yes, wich one to keep old bootloader), or downgrade to 4.2 on my old stock rom ?

Flash a 4.3 or 4.4.2 GSM modem only and that should fix your Dropping signal issue. Download the modem from here and check the Modem base from your Country/Provider from here. Have a nice day.

If I flash the MKF for exemple it will not install the new bootloader ? (it's the newer modem of my operator)
I've download the FNB8 modem, so the same number of my version, why there is a NON-HLOS.bin file in it ?

You can download and flash any GSM modem mate but dont flash any latest Wififix/nonhlos because you will loose your sound. Pls feel free to hit the thanks button.
Edit:For Old bootloader you can't flash any newer LTE/NON-HLOS/WIFIFIX modem than UBMH1.
" Sent from Hell "

I've flashed the XXUEMKF and it seems to work, I don't know if it's newer of UBMH1 or not, but everything seems ok
(and Thanks for your help )

[Q] - i9507: No service on KitKat - Can receive calls, can't dial (no service)

Hi Guys,
I'm from Australia and recently bought an Optus Galaxy S4 4G. Strangely, the model number is i9507. I double-checked this online and usually weird model numbers are just carrier-spin-offs. So I went ahead to root and flash just like you would with an International i9505.
So far no problems - 4.3.x PA rom works absolutely fine.
BUT:
I've tried some Kit Kat roms recently and they all flash fine but give me 'mobile network not available'. Strangely though, I can receive calls/text and talk on the phone, but when I try to dial or send text messages, I can't do it. My reception bar is completely empty as well.
WiFi is totally fine, just no data and mobile network
I've tried messing with the 'network operators' setting and if i select my carrier (I have a Vodafone sim) I'll get network reception until I turn off the screen and then my mobile network becomes unavailable again
Not sure what the problem is; modem? APN? or roms not suitable for my phone?
Current info:
ROM - [ROM] KOT49H【4.4.2】 GOOGLE EDITION 4.4.2 by Danvdh, Kryten2k35 & Ktoonsez
Baseband - i9507XXUAMH2
Kernel - [email protected]oonsez-VirtualBox #1
I've been flashing for a while now but it's usually just basic stuff so you can probably tell I'm pretty amateur lol.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks =)

Hi Rich
As your baseband is quite out of sync with the firmware you are trying to run (MH2 is from 4.2.2 ,,, right?) I would suggest you change your baseband (modem) flashing an equivalent to the ROM firmware from here.
I've got yesterday the exactly same behaviour when finally and reluctantly I've added a data plan. I was running a successful low-baseband + high-firmware because was setted to "GSM Only" (try it ... will work flawless). When I've switched to LTE got what you've described in the face too . I've promptly updated my baseband and now all is fine
EDIT: please do nothing of the above described BEFORE taking a EFS backup with every tool you can find and preserving them in several highly fortified locations and 2 or 3 K7 Tapes too . Have an ODIN flashable copy of your MH2 baseband is advisable too.
Hope I've helped and please share your experience.
Nice regards.

Hey thanks for the reply! Helps heaps =)
While I still had those roms installed I did try flash a few modems within Odin, all failed though =S
Which one should I be flashing?
I believe I tried XXUFNA1 but the flash just doesn't go through
Does it make a difference which rom I flash the new modem from? I.e. flash when the new modem now or flash the new modem on the kitkat rom?
I'm currently using Pacman 4.3.1 since it's perfectly fine. Just can't wait to get on a KitKat rom though! haha

Hi Rich
Sorry, may be my fault, but quite didn't got your
You may proceed having the below as a rule of thumb:
Your baseband (modem) version should always match your ROM (firmware) version.
Failure to flash something is never good signal. As you have an i9507 (I own the 5) is very advisable to flash a modem built for your S4 flavour.
The above rule should apply to it too so, if the only modem available for the i9507 is the MH2 your firmware have to match or these issues reported will return.
Did you tested the "GSM Only" option to corroborate (or not) my hyphothesis? With this config, you should perceive no signal drops when waked. I know it isn't a viable operational mode but ... just for fun
Nice regards and keep sharing

Losing signal after updating CM

Hello there,
I installed the latest CM from the official website and now I have problems with my signal.
Most of the times, the phone can not find a signal. Sometimes it catches it, but it will last for 4-5 minutes. If I go into flight mode and come back, the signal will be there for 1 minute. When I don't have signal, there's the R near the signal bar (Roaming).
I haven't changed my modem with the new installation (I9505XXUAMDC). I am on the O2 / TESCO Mobile network in Ireland.

Hi mate ,
I assume you have an I9505 , there is know issue with modem/bootloader incompatibility you may have to use a modem wifi fix or upgrade the bootloader to use the newer modems

Hi mate ,
If i am not wrong that is a 4.2.2 modem , if you don't worry about the warranty anymore i would get the full package
MODEM / LTE / BOOTLOADER
I fixed it by installing the modem+Wi-Fi fix. I was afraid of installing the bootloader, as if something goes wrong when installing the modem, it can be fixed, but I don't think it's the same with the bootloader

[Q] signal drops i9505

Hello.
I need help with my i9505 phone. This phone was for france but i am living in greece and i could have very good signal (3g and lte) while it was on stock firmware. One day i decided to flash custom rom (cm11). Since then i have disconnections for my signal (even gsm only) with message no service. I tried to roll back to stock firmware using odin but i have the same results. I think my problem is csc because i cannot change with csc select. I am having an erro from csc select "does not support single csc".... Or something like that. Could someone help with this annoying situation? I would appreciate any advice or help..

Does modem is indepentent from hw and it has to do only with region..... Or i have to find a modem which is for my phone and my region???
When saying for my phone i mean that my phone is supposed that was for french market but i live in greece. This means that i have to find a french modem with multi csc so i can select eur csc?? Can someone help me which modem i have to flash?? There are a lot of them out there.....

[Q] I9505. No signal when using 3G/4G. 2G works

Hi.
After updating Danvh's lolipop-rom to the latest version, I lost my signal and wifi. When I force my phone to use 2G (GSM only) in network-settings, everyting works normal.
But of cource I want the speed of 3G and 4G when using internet!
Sometimes (not often) 3G works.
Sometimes the phone says it has signal, but calls, internett etc don't work
I tried to flash the latest modem (XXUHOC6), but no luck. Have also tried modem XXUGNK4, XXUHOB8 and XXUHOB7. I tried to go back to the older version of the custom rom, but no luck
I have now downloaded the latest official stock rom from sammobile. But same problem with stock rom.
Any suggestions?
I have IMEI
Sorry, I have the same problem and I am still searching for a solution. And I have been trying everything as you and no solution. Sometimes I think is a hardware issue.
Very frustrating :S
Hope to find a solution soon.
I dont want to buy a new phone yet. There is no other phones out there that I want

Help with modem version

Im having issues with the 2G signal wherein signal bar is empty but for 3g its working fine (I haven’t tried 4g/LTE) . I prefer to use 2G network for sending/receiving SMS since it has strong signal in my location (Philippines) and I don’t use cellular data since I always use home wifi.
Im thinking that it might be an issue with the modem version that im using for my phone (I337MVLUGOH1)
Im just wondering if its possible to flash modem from I9505. I read that the modem to use for Philippines is MKE.
SGH-i377M model (Bell unlocked)
Recovery (TWRP-jflteatt)
ROM - cm-13.0-20161204-NIGHTLY-jflteatt
Modem - I337MVLUGOH1
Thanks in advance
