I would like to know that as well, I've read you can stream via DLNA/Allshare to a Samsung TV, but it seems those apps only stream a local file. Also I wonder whether the Nexus 7 is capable of downloading the stream whilst streaming it along to the TV.

Too expensive i think. What I will try out is a Samsung MHL cable (see Amazon) and attaching a WiiMote to the device. This should transfer the screen/audio while giving me the freedom to control it from the couch.
As of now, I have testes Plex Media Server in conjunction with the Plex App on the Nexus, which is really impressive on its own already, since I can for example link every YouTube Video I like (via myplex) and stream that from my PC to the TV (even without the Android App, since the TV recognizes the Plex Media Server on its own via DLNA!). I can also stream my Video Folders to Tablet and/or TV whenever I like. The only downside of this is that I have to have the PC running.
For streaming videos from the Google Play store I think iMediashare will be sufficient, since one can select whichever file residing on the tablet and stream it to the TV. I could not test it with Play Store Videos yet, since I get the error that I have downloaded the complimentary Transformers 3 to the maximum of devices already (which I haven't) whenever I click the download option in the Google Video Player. But from what I gather, it should be possible to download a video (rent) and instead of viewing it via the Google Video App, open it in iMediashare and stream that to the TV. Using the WiiMote App, it should also have a remote then.
In case one can't open the rental video outside of Google Video App, it should still work using the MHL Cable.
If you check that out, let me know whether it works for you
I will be able to do further testing when my replacement Nexus arrives, since I got and 8GB instead of 16GB version, I will have to wait until I got it swapped.
and therefore do not pile nexus 7...NO HDMI :/
I wait for acer a110

stream video

Hi im looking to stream video to my lg blu-ray player from my nexus 7. The player supports wifi-direct as well as dlna. Every app on the play store I've used requires me to use my computer to act as the dlna server. I'd love to know if their is a way to other make my tablet a true AP and run a dlna server from that so my player can just connect to it or how to use wifi direct to stream directly from my 7 without using a ap or a dlna server.
thanx guys

[Q] App that allows you to stream Android to Android

I am looking for an app that will allow (for example) my Galaxy Note 10.1 to see files (specifically video files) from my Nexus 7.
I would then like the Galaxy Note 10.1 be able to play those video files from my Nexus 7.
I know how to do it from said device from a PC but another android device I dunno yet.
Anyone have any apps to recommend?
I use skifta, mainly for playing files from the server on my network at home, but also for streaming files from the tablet to a DNLA player (ps3)
I have tried it from my N7 to a mates N7 so I do know it should work android to android.

[Q] How to play downloaded movies on TV

If I have downloaded movies on my nexus 7 2012, 4.4.4, how can I play them on my TV? I download movies that are a variety of formats. Usually play them on my tablet with MX, Diceplayer, or VLC. Is there anyway to get them on my TV? I have a 7 year old Panasonic plasma TH-50PX80U.
Chromecast. If you have hmdi.

i thought chromcast would play certain subscription channels. i want to play movies from my nexus 7 2012, that are playing video files that i copied to the device, and they are playing in vlc, mx, diceplayer, etc.
Chromecast can do this, you can stream directly from certain apps on your device, or from your chrome browser on any PC, to the chromecast via your wifi network.
There are also other apps that help extend this functionality on our device, such as localcast and allcast, both free in the play store.
I've streamed movies/tv from MX player to my chromecast using the allcast app and it worked pretty well.
There's also a mod available to stream your screen to the chromecast without needing an extra app; i've not had the chance to test this myself yet, but it's been reported to work well (here's the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/har...experimental-enable-mirroring-device-t2812193) .
This functionality is now native to the 2013 Nexus 7, but sadly not for grouper
The link "[EXPERIMENTAL] Enable Mirroring from any device" that you mentioned said that we need to have "root access on your device". How would I know if I have root access?

TV Tuner

Hello,
Just want to know if there is any possibility of adding digital tv tuner to the Shield TV? I've seen those D-Link TV tuners, but not sure if they are any good or compatible.
Thanks
I would to be able to use a TV tuner as well!!
PAD TV HD from play store works only with PAD TV DVB-T2 tuner.
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/pre-...-T2-DVB-T-TV-on-Android-Phone/1860516816.html
It is only DVB-T2 tuner which can work on Android.
Question is ,if it will work on Shield TV.
There is another TV tuner from Mygica(not micro usb) which can work on shield TV.
https://forums.geforce.com/default/...hich-works-with-shield-tv-is-pt-360-dvb-t2-t/
I use HDhomerun and its working perfect with OTA antena.
Hdhomerun works for me too.

I can confirm that the padtv hd is useless with the shield. The app which you need to install to use it isnt available on the appstore and sideloading the apk also results in a failed to install error. I assume the hardware supports it but until the devs update their app or someone else makes an app that can make use of the padhd android tuner, its fairly useless
Pad tv HD( blue icon)app works just fine on my Shield TV.
I have installed it via File es explorer.I did not have a single error.

Which version are you using?
I tried multiple of the latest versions also using es file explorer and they all failed to install
You must to have PT360 tuner or your app is damaged.
If you have android phone, use extractor app, download pad tv hd on mobile phone, then extracted it via app and then send on your email and open it via Shield TV.
Or you can go for app from Shield tv browser,use:http://apkleecher.com to download any app from play store.Must use exact name of app.
My version is:2.1.7.0

I downloaded my apk from the geniatech support page (the manufacturers of the TV tuner) but I'll have a look at that URL and see if I have anymore success
Thanks
send me your email to send you app

Is there anyway to decode ATSC and Clear-QAM signals directly with a USB dongle like the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-950Q? Any chance of this getting integrated into Kodi?
I know of none but its a good idea, all the current kodi plugins only work with internet and lan based tv to my knowledge
HD Homerun (Ethernet) devices can be used. You will have to buy the app. I don't know if they released it for adroid tv yet.
Is the HD HomeRun "Connect" sufficient or do you need the "Extend"?
I believe both will work (did both on my tablets). The extend is nice if you are connected via WiFi due to better compression.
