Hi Guys,
I am new to Android coming over from being a 4th Gen iphone user. I presently upgraded to the Galaxy Note 3. My model is SM-N900W8 and with a Canadian carrier. I was trying to follow the Root_De_La_Vega method to root my phone and keep my Knox Security intact.
This is the link to it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46389503&postcount=2
My AP file is not listed: N900W8VLUBMJ4
The CSC folder link to obtain the CSC tar file has been removed. I'm not sure how to proceed from here onward. Can someone please advise how to root this version of the Note 3 and still keep Knox intact.
This is my first post on this forum and not sure if I'm in the correct posting.
Thanks man!!!

You should always post quotes in the Q&A forum, not in General.
Read the threads about UNIVERSAL Root De La Vega (URDLV). Also there are 1-2 good threads on the W8 model - normally (on N9005) you could not be able to root MJ4 and keep knox 0x0 but you might still have a small chance on N900W8.

Hi,
I've just made the switch to Android & Note 3 after years of iPhone & jailbreaking.
Been trying to find the most acceptable forum to ask this, and it seems wrong to be asking on the general Q&A forum, but "similar threads found" shows someone enquiring about root on the original Note, so here goes, apologies if it's the wrong place to ask.
Been reading up and getting to grips with the process of the De La Vega root as best I can. I have the n9005 Snapdragon version, O2 UK.
I've downloaded the matching AP and CSC - N9005XXUBMI7 & N9005O2UBMHD, got latest samsung drivers installed, Odin 3.09, turned off Reactivation lock, usb debugging is checked, and backed up my apps/data with Helium/Carbon.
Question 1 - just watched a youtube walkthrough posted on another thread here on XDA showing the process of rooting with DLV, and he seems to make no mention of having to wipe your device beforehand - the phone he uses appears to be very much not "stock" throughout.
Yet on the original DLV thread it says "do I have to fully wipe my phone when rooting? YES, if you don't you'll get lots of nasty force closes" - so I'd like confirmation on whether it is indeed necessary.
Question 2 - the N9005XXUBMJ3 AP from what I can gather is the newest, presumably with some fixes, so can I flash the MJ3 instead of MI7 (along with the correct CSC as above obviously) and still avoid tripping Knox? Or should I stick to the AP & CSC that match the ones shown with *#1234#?
Thanks,
Mike

There's been reports that MJ3 is de la vega aware and will trip the Knox counter...
Hello, I hope I am posting in the right place and within guidelines. I recently purchased the Note 3 and am looking to break into the world of rooting. I was following the URDLV guide when I reached the step of having to obtain the AP and CSC tar files. I tried to located the n900a csc, but all I have been able to find is a package containting the AP and CP files, a BL file, and PIT file. I don't know if one of these are supposed to subsitute for a csc but I assumed not and didnt want to take any chances.
So as it stands I am sitting here wondering what I can do. Do I have to wait for some official release of the firmware? the only one on the samsung mobile site is mi9 (which I of course didnt realize until paying for a terafile subscription to download it) or is there N900A MJ5 files floating around and I just cant find them?
If anyone can offer me some insight, I would greatly appreciate it.

It depends from the current firmware on your device, URDLV root doesn't work on the new NC2 update, nor can you downgrade from that version.
Wait and keep reading the relevant threads for any new development.

This one is the International Note 3 forum.
You should focus on the specific AT&T Note 3 forum:

1. According to the 'Firmware Browser...' (see attached screenshot below), atm there is only BMI9 for N900A model.
2. MI9 is good for you to URDLV without tripping Knox. As URDLV works only with the firmware below MJ3. So MI9 is ok, MJ5 may NOT work with URDLV.
So you better download MI9 firmware and go ahead.
(link is also given in the 'Firmware Browser')

you can download from the mirror here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2643109
(if you find samfirmware is slow).
If you only flash original firmware, it won't trigger KNOX. region doesn't matter. just pick up the latest one, and don't forget to tick "upgrade bootloader" when you are flashing with ODIN PC. Otherwise, ..... mmm... better not think if you never tick it.
Do you have any real reason to upgrade, other than "to have the latest android version, because THEY say it's better" ?
Maybe this thread will show you the pain in the *** that kitkat is on Note 3:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2709623
And also, here, the end of that story:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51890578&postcount=22
Maybe you'll think again about upgrading (just my humble opinion).
Good luck,
Hey all
this is my first post, so please bear with me. have been a long time 'silent reader' here and thanks to Chainfire and his 'region blockaway' i did my first root back in October 2013. I have an international Note 3 9005, 4.3, Build XXUBMI7. I would like to update to 4.4.2 but i'm really lost how to proceed and where to download the necessary files?
any help is greatly appreciated. i dont expect a complete step-by step guide but maybe someone can post a link?
cheers

@Claudio21CH
1 Download the firmware from sammobile.cpm
2 Pc ODin you must have used it fpr rooting.
Flash the firmware with pc odin to your phone via usb cable.
Same procesure you have used to root your phone.
Sent from Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005
thank you very much, will try and keep you posted!!
I visited sammobile and checked their firmware section. Seems for my build (N9005XXUMBI6) there is NO firmware update to 4.4.2, only for 4.3. My phone was bought in Switzerland without carrier lock. Can I just use one of the firmware where it says 'country unknown' or do I risk to brick my device? Thank you once again

What is your CSC?
Use this app Phone INFO ★Samsung★ to see what is your CSC.
Also in this app. you can enter the Menu --> select 'Firmware Browser...' to see a list of available stock firmwares for your phone, including the latest one.
Thank you very much

Nope, it is CSC version, not the actual CSC code.
I mean the 'Active CSC code' in the CSC INFO section.
Anyway you can enter the menu and select 'Firmware Browser' to check for the latest firmware by yourself.

EDIT: Ok, AUT is Switzerland and the latest firmware is N9005XXUENB4 on March 2014, Android 4.4.2
The download link for this firmware is also given in this app.

What is your KNOX state, If its still 0x0, the you would need the mobile odin pro 4.0 method to update to keep knox 0x0.
Thank you all. Finally managed to upgrade to 4.4.2 with firmware from sammobile.com but now realized that I don't have root anymore. Will use CF autoroot for 4.4.2.
Cheers

Google : cf autoroot galaxy note 3 xda forums. Follow the rest there. You will trip Knox counter and lose warranty.
Go to development forums for note 3 and search for more methods. And read to pick up right files for 4.4.
Best way is to install a custom recovery, TWRP for example (see dev section), and then flash the SuperSU zip package from that recovery and you will be done. Get the zip package from here, https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
