Unless you have a developers edition you can not flash kernels however with the retail version you can root, install safestrap and custom ROMs from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-note-3/development

The retail version has never been unlocked. Which is why there are no kernels.

Is there any easy tutorial for installation of ubuntu on unrooted nexus 4?
I see on their sites and found little complicated. And on xda general section of nexus 4 there is one for rooted nexus 4s.
Thank you.

You don't need root. Flash a custom recovery in fastboot mode

Yes but they are unified builds. We will not get them until this boot loader is unlocked. It was probably a mistake including Verizon in the list.
So....with this being available, can we at least safestrap it?

So my friend has a galaxy s4 that he wants to root, custom recovery, roms.. Etc. So I was wondering where to start? I Have done this to a galaxy note 1. And I know Odin is needed but just would like help with the process for the s4, and possibly links to find what I need. Basically I will be helping with root and flashing a recovery. I know Samsung phones already have a unlocked bootloader. Any help will be thanked!

Everything depends on the current firmware on the phone.

It depends on what firmware you're currently on. The s4 is not an easy device to root and rom and the roms available to you are only touch wiz based. You might want to consider not messing with your friends phone.

If you mean safe as in the rom doesnt contain malware and doesnt screw up your phone, custom roms on XDA are absolutely safe. The community tests them out and report bugs and the devs keep on churning out better and better versions.
