Hello, I was going to try and restore my Nexus 4 back to It's original state. I went into the bootloader and selected the recovery mode option, the Google screen comes up then right after, I see a sleeping android with a red triangle box on top and it says no command. Then the phone shuts down. Any solutions on how I can fix this? I'm really new to the nexus 4. Thanks.

That's stock recovery.
Once at that screen do some button mashing ( I think It's power and volume down to bring up stock recovery options but I can't remember for sure) and your options show up.
If you wanted a custom recovery you would need to flash that with fastboot. Or from within android if you're on a rooted device.
Also depending on exactly what you want to do flashing the factory images may be what you want. That will by default wipe EVERTHING of the phone and start completely fresh with stock images. There is guides for that in general...

Unplug your device. Hold the power button until it turns off. Then hold volume up, volume down, and the power button. It should boot you into recovery.

I'm sure there are more ways to deal with this, but I personally would just flash a custom recovery from bootloader and re flash the rom. Probably the easiest way to go about it. Others may have a better idea.

What did you do before? If you flashed a new ROM / Kernel, most likely they are not compatible.

nothing.
i was exporting some data from my dropbox to my nexus. after that i lost my icons and had a empty desktop without icons.
after reboot, i was in the loop
my nexus is a stock nexus with 4.1.2 no root.
i will not loose my data
You may have no choice but to flash my friend. Sounds like you had an unlucky gremlin.

... but if it's still locked, you need to unlock and then you will loose all your data
@verysalty: Did you try already to access the system with adb? Do you have debugging option switched on? Then you could try to do a backup of all your data before.

How can i flash my nexus to stock. easy way please.
The easiest way in my opinion:
- unlock boot loader (you will loose all your data!)
- download factory image from Google
- flash the factory image (fastboot or adb)
I am wondering why synchronizing some files with dropbox is causing a boot loop ???

My Nexus 7 is alife
i have use the nexus 7 toolkit and unlock the boot loader > flash the factory image > lock the boot loader...

Had a very similar issue today
Nexus started rebooting in the middle of different apps 2-3 times last night.
charged it overnight, unplugged it and went to class.
Then progressed to rebooting after only 40 seconds after the lock screen loaded from the reboot
40 secs wasn't enough time to do anything in android so after much research this is how I fixed it:
- in the 40 secs that android worked I pressed and held the power button and powered it down to stop the boot loop.
- when it was finally shut down I pressed and held the power and vol dwn buttons til the recovery menu appeared.
- used the vol buttons to select recovery, then pressed power
- When the android with the red exclamation point (!) showed up I pressed power then vol up and released for the menu to appear.
- Selected and execute Factory Reset. Then wipe Cache. then reboot, fixed the problem so far, now I'm re-installing apps.
I talked with a google rep about the problem, said it could me anything from a poorly written app, to a corrupted boot sequence.
Anyone know what may have caused this, so I don't inadvertently cause it to happen again??

I had the exact same issue from your description, I solved it after I read someone else disconnected the battery. Its a pretty quick fix to what looks like an unrecoverable problem loop of switching on, then powering down.
Here's what I did:
Open the back using just my nail on one corner , it snaps off easy pesy, trust me
Use ifixit nexus 7 battery replacement guide , steps 1-6 only, note where they use a tool I used a pair of nail scissors to prise the connector out and back in

Pulling the battery out, as with any android device can work.
Total time 2 mins
It was working again before I put the back cover on.
I rooted my N10 using CF-Auto-Root without unlocking the bootloade (on purpose). The N10 has been working fine and I loaded 10G of personal files. Then I sideloaded an old version of the LBE privacy guard. It installed, but then when I returned to the homescreen I got bootlooped.
I turn it off and back on, and I got the dreadful android-with-red-triangle saying "no command".
I could get into the recovery mod using power+volume up/down. "Restart bootloader" got me back to the recovery manual; "recovery mode" or "start" got back to the red triangle. I was able to turn it off. The battery is at 80%.
Is there a way I can wipe my N10 and do a factory reset? I did not unlock my bootloader; is that why I can flash a factory image?
Since I can't boot up the N10, at this point I probably can't use adb to remove the bad apk?
I'd prefer not to unlock the device, in case I need to RMA back... And I'd rather not return it at all, since I just uploaded lots of personal info...
Your help is **most** appreciated.
I think that if you press power, volume up and volume down at the red triangle screen it will get you to the stock recovery. You should read the stickies in the two development sections lots of people needing to do factory resets after unlocking.

Sounds like you are getting into fastboot mode fine, so worse comes to worse, you can unlock it, flash a factory image and re-lock it ..
Of course doing that you are going to loose all your data ..
Check out the tut's for flashing factory from fastboot, or you could use mskip's toolkit ..
Hello everyone, I'm new in this forum and have just bricked my Nexus 7 .
I was not very happy with my Nexus 7 with JB version 4.2.1, it lagged and took long time to load apps etc. I used the Nexus 7 toolkit to unlock my bootloader, flash recovery and then tried a few custom roms. I eventually flash the official 4.1.2 firmware from google but the constant notification for firmware update annoyed me and I decided to root and get rid of the firmware update notifications by installing fotakill.apk.
But when I tried to root using the Nexus 7 toolkit, I chose the option to sideload the zip files for rooting automatically. It asked to flash my boot loader to a lower version (3.34, mine was 3.41) and afterwards it rebooted the device and eventually got stuck at a screen with these lines:
now send the package you want to apply
to the device with adb sideload <filename>
after a long time without anything happening, I suspected that things went wrong and pressed the power button for a few seconds and the device turned off. Now I cannot turn it back on, when plugged in it doesn't show the charging battery, also I cannot boot into fastboot mode by holding Volume down + Power button. The screen stays black the whole time.
I even tried to open the back power and pull the battery out and in again and try to turn on the tablet, nothing happens. I remember the battery level was like roughly 90% the last time the tablet was working, so I don't know what went wrong .

I tried that but nothing happened .
Press all buttons on the side simultaniously untill fastboot/bootloader mode appears. This should work, no matter if your device is booted or not, or soft bricked or whatever. Then: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1907796 .
If it doesn't work however (like after 30-60 seconds), then connect your nexus 7 to your PC. Go to device manager and identify your device. Does it say apx-mode or something like that? Then your device is possibly hard bricked and you might find some answers here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1879228 .
Your should not have used rootkits. Most of these topics appear after people using toolkit. Learn to use fastboot. It's the only program you'll need for the nexus 7. Yes, it's a command line tool but at least it forces you to think before flashing. For example, it was not necessary to downgrade your bootloader. I really don't get why you did that. Also, if you want to run a stable 4.1.2 without the annoying update messages, you can, for example, flash cyanogenmod 10. It's stable, very smooth, and way better than stock.

Thanks I did a search and finally found an answer. I was running fine on my N7 with PACMan and suddenly it got stuck booting up. So I booted into recovery and reflashed the ROM, and wiped dalvik and cache. When I rebooted it went to "Android is upgrading" like usual after wiping dalvik, then it got stuck there. So I rebooted again and nothing. Just a blank screen. Your suggestion of holding all the buttons down for 30-60 seconds awoke my Nexus. I'm going to wipe everything and start over.
i tried to update to 4.4 through factory image files and i wounded up getting stuck on the nexus symbol and it wont boot up!!
i tried then going to recover mode but its not even doing that! the furthest i can get is into fastboot mode and when i go to recovery mode theres just the red triangle with no menu at all.. just the picture with the red triangle.. all i can do from there is hard reboot
so the situation is..boot stuck and no recovery

Well you should be fine. The little red triangle is normal, it is the screen you get before it goes to stock recovery. If you were to google that, you'd see you need to depress the power button and the volume up buttons at the same time. You keep them pressed together for about 4-5 seconds before it goes into recovery. Once you do that do a factory reset and see if that works.
BTW when you post like this make sure you include a little more detail how you got to where you are. Like what operating system you are using, Windows _, Ubuntu __._, or IOS. Also if you were using a tool kit. If you have ADB and Fastboot installed, etc., helps w/ the diagnosis if you know what I mean.

i know what stock recovery mode is and how to get to it.. its just that it doesnt show up .. just the picture with no options
anyways.. i figured out how to flash stock recovery from fastboot mode but every stock i try to flash i keep getting a bootloop!

Maybe your factory image is corrupted. I downloaded the factory image from Google, checked the MD5 to make sure it was right, and then flashed it with no problem.
wipe data / factory reset on STOCK recovery.

I did root my device with Kingo root. It worked. Then I tried to unroot it with Nexus Root Toolkit v2.0.5. I couldn't apparently and the Goggle update that tried to install yielded an error.
At the end I tried the Flash Stock + Unroot option installing the last Lollipop version. It apparently worked but Android kept loading forever. I could still reach the bootloader.
I tried the same but with a early Lillipop version. The same happened.
And if I try to go to the bootloader -> then recovery -> then the android icon -> then volume up and power button -> then I do see the red led.
So, what can I do? Have I lost my nexus4?
Stay in the bootloader and use fastboot to flash the latest image from Google's site.

I have followed the instructions of here forum.xda-developers.com /nexus-4/general/how-to-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2010312, which I'd say does exactly the same as the toolkit.
And the result is the same, the X boot gets ethernal. If I try to do what's said there:
"Note that some users indicate that they can't get past the X on boot. If this happens to you, reboot into the bootloader and select recovery. Then, when you see the Android with the red exclamation mark, hold power and press volume up to take you to the menu. Wipe cache. If that still doesn't work, boot back into recovery and do a factory reset (this will obviously delete all your data & files in /sdcard...). "
Then it's the same, I cannot go to that menu, instead I see the red light if it's plugged, nothing if it's unplugged (only a black screen). So I'm stuck (!), I'm still under shock that I've brick my nexus 4 not doing anything really strange.
surprisingly, after having tried to enter to the recovery menu like 8 times (not being plugged), the SO has unstucked and has said "optimizing apps", after which it has been able to start normally.
