How To Change AOSP Keyboard's Theme In Realtime
If you use AOSP Android keyboard, which is also available in the Play Store, you can change the look and feel of the keyboard.
It has few built-in themes, but they're not available in the settings.
How to do ?
OK let's continue
1. First, you need an application that lets you create shortcuts to app activities. For example: Nova Launcher and Apex Launcher, so install any from these two.
2. Long press on home screen and pick "shortcuts" and then "activities".
3. Scroll down to the Google Keyboard entry, expand the list and pick "Android keyboard debug settings"
4. Create a shortcut for this activity. Now tap the new shortcut.
5. There will be "Keyboard theme"
6. Simply choose
thanks man it really works :good:

So playing around I gigured out how to switch it:
Press Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Application
Press Menu > Filter > All
Scroll down to TwLauncher and tap that, then tap Clear Defaults
Press Home and you will be prompted to select Home (Vanilla Android) or or TwLauncher (Samsung TouchWiz). Check "Use by default for this action" to set Home as the default Launcher if you like.
If you ever want to undo the process, simply repeat the process but go to Home instead os TwLauncher.
Enjoy.
An easier way is to use the app "home switcher" from the market. Idk if it works with the epic but it should.

Once you install any different home launcher ADW or Launcherpro, etc it should automatically ask to switch home screens when you press home the first time.
I'm still looking forward to TouchWiz but more likely than not uninstalling it for ADW.
Wow! Nice job chris5h!
I've written up a tutorial with images and video:

Hey Chris I have changed my os to Vanilla but when I try the reverse directions to go back to touchwiz it will not work. When I go into manage apps, then filter, then on to TwLauncher all is well, but then the option to press "clear defaults" is grayed out. Could you help out?

Definitely use Home Switcher. But yes, there's something with Froyo that makes it difficult to choose the "default" home. Unfortunately, if you select default on a launcher that you don't want, I would do what was mentioned above (variation of).
Go to market, search for Go Launcher, install it, uninstall, then you'll get the screen to pick your default launcher when you hit the home button.

Hey thanks this worked out, I kind of like Go Launchers interface though anyway.
But now I have the option to go back.
I guess I just kind of jumped into this quickly
I just rooted the phone and am not seeing many benefits to it so far,
I don't understand custom roms or kernals really either.
"launcher2.apk that's the aosp launcher"- I couldn't figure this out.
"I just delete the touchwiz launcher from any rom I use, then install LP,then delete th aosp launcher"
LP stands for Launcher program? aosp?
I still can't figure out how to get wireless tether through my epic!
Sorry guys, very new to this.
Hi all, first time post! Hooray for newbs!
Here's a trick I found to access the built-in Car Dock app without the use of the car dock accessory.
Download and install ADW.Launcher from the Android Market - You'll need to download ADW Launcher, which is probably fine for most people who don't like using MotoBlur! The free version of ADW.Launcher will work fine for this tutorial. You will need to reorganize your widgets and favorite shortcuts, so be warned.
Long press an empty area on your home screen in ADW Launcher to bring up the "Add to Home screen" window
Select "Custom shortcut"
Select "Pick your activity"
Select "Activities"
Select "Car Dock"
Select "CarDock(.main.CardockMainActivity)"
Name the shortcut anything you wish, otherwise, select "OK"
Now you have a CarDock icon on your home screen! Select it and use it for safer phone browsing while on the road. Remember to practice safe driving habits!
Similarly, you can bring up the Desk Dock app without the use of the standard or HD home dock accessory.
Download and install ADW.Launcher
Long press an empty area on your home screen in ADW Launcher to bring up the "Add to Home screen" window
Select "Custom shortcut"
Select "Pick your activity"
Select "Activities"
Select "Desk Home"
Select "Desk Home (.DLauncher)"
Name the shortcut anything you wish, otherwise, select "OK"
Now you have a Desk Home icon on your home screen! Select it and enjoy the landscape eye candy in front of your eyes. At least until the screen times out, if you don't have it plugged into a power source.
I haven't found these tricks mentioned by anyone yet for the Atrix. I figured it out by mimicking a tutorial I found for enabling sideloading on an AT&T locked Dell Streak without rooting. I was hoping I could use the same technique to enable sideloading without rooting the Atrix.
There may be some other goodies in there using similar techniques. I haven't been able to get the Webtop working using this technique.
I hope I've posted this in the right section of the forum. Mods, feel free to move as you see fit. I figured to put it in the General section since there's no need for development to enable these features.
Ia it in system/ Apps?

Great find. I sid the same in launcherpro.

Nice!
Works with Launcher Pro too... Just select Shortcuts - Activities and add the links as shown above.
Awesome find man. I can confirm it also works in Launcher Pro.
You're welcome! Thanks for confirming that it works in Launcher Pro as well. Cheers!

Hey guys,
Hoping someone can help me out, not sure why this doesn't work for me...
I want to create 1 of my home pages similar to my previous phone, which is a full page of individual internet bookmarks (the same size as app icons). How I have gone about it (and how I have always done this), is open the basic internet browser (not chrome), go to a webpage, and then save them in my generic "bookmarks" folder.
After I have done that several times, I go to the homepage where I want the bookmarks, navigate to widgets, then drag and drop "bookmark 1x1" onto the homepage....A new screen opens titled "choose a bookmark". On this page I can see a folder "mobile bookmarks", so as there are no other options, i navigate to that folder....again nothing in there except the folder "samsung mobile", so i nav to that folder....nothing inside. There are no other folders or locations I can navigate to. WTF?!
I thought I may have saved them to a separate folder, but even when i go into the bookmark and select "edit" i can't change it to any other default folder (also tried creating a new folder and putting them in there, didn't help)
I tried going into CHROME and setting bookmarks (then saving them) and selecting them as a homepage widget, but again, i can't find anything. Along with the HUGE disappointment of no FM radio chip, I am finding the more basic options more difficult on this phone which doesn't say much for Samsung in newer generation phones. I also don't think I am a complete dumba$$, which is exactly how I feel when i ask a very basic question like this. WHY wont this work?
Thanks anyone who can help.

Phone is unbranded i9505 (4G) AU stock.
I'm using also the stock browser and if you press the menue softkey you can choose 'create shortcut'. This will create a shortcut on the homescreen It is pretty simple and works good for me. Hope this helps you.

Bookmark 1*1 point to chrome, and sbookmark point to the old android browser. Both work correct for me, and as other said, just create a shortcut (this function since android 2.x)
And for chrome just keep pressing the bookmark icon you want, then it will give you a menu to add it to home screen

Aha.
So bookarks are out the window these days, we just navigate to the webpage we want, then select "add shortcut" that seems to be the only way to get that link as a 1x1 icon on the home screen. Thanks mate, +1 for you

No.... When on a homescreen press Menu (or long-press the screen), press Add Shortcut, select Bookmark, choose the site you want.
A 1x1-sized bookmark icon shortcut will be added... :good:

Negatron. This has been answered, but I will respond to your post. On the i9505, long press homepage (or menu key), provides options:
- add apps/widgets - wont work this way
- create folder
- set wallpaper
- add/remove page (this is add or remove a homescreen page)
Long press screen options:
ADD TO HOME SCREEN:
- Apps and widgets
- Folder
- Page
None of these items/options work, so only works, for me, by going into the internet explorer app, hit menu key and then "add shortcut" instead of add bookmark...

Okay. Works, as it should, on my 9505 so no issues here :good: That is, using Apex Launcher as the option you look after is indeed not working (anymore) in Touchwiz...
Its working for me even on touchwiz..

Hei Guys,
I believe that many of you may don't like the default browser that comes with the honor 6 and its limitations. For that, I came to you with a new way that would be a good help for you to modify the app and just about any other you would not like app in the devise:
1- Download the the the app that you like to choose as your default browser from the store.
2- Go to settings.
3- Manage apps.
4- All tap.
5- Scroll down and press on "Browser"
6- Disable the default browser.
7- Now, try to enter any website name on any note: for example: go to Google Keep: the website name, and press on the link: open.
8- Choose the browser you like and click: Always
9- Now you have changed the default browser my friend.
The same way could work for the other default apps that are locked to be not " clear defaults" from the app info.
Hope that I helped
Hi, useful tip, thank you.
By the way, do you know of a way to use another launcher like Nova launcher for instance.

Useful tip !! Thanks Mate!! :good: :good: :good: :good:
I found on EMUI 3.0 (B370 on an L04) it won't change at all even with defaults cleared.
You have to go to settings > Manage Apps and at the bottom is a button for default apps. Set the launcher etc in there and it works fine after that. I don't have browser in there though and it doesn't have the clear defaults button in the application so I am stuck with it as default it seems.

How to set to get to the menu using gestures? Is there any apk that supports this without root
I use nova launcher and this let me set up double tap to open settings. Hope that helps. [emoji6]

Nova settings - gestures & inputs - select gesture then select app settings.
I think we're talking about another menu. I mean, it's marked on the photo
Sorry I can't read that.
He's talking about this menu button here http://androidapphut.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/action-bar-1-680x322.jpg
I use LMT to add it back to my phone since Google has seemed to remove it from Android
This apk. Work in one plus 6t?

Yes, that is what my screenshot is from. You can check out the thread for LMT here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
I think some of the features work even without root.
The idea is very good but no root is not useful. In addition, there is no desired menu. It's on your photo, but I've installed apps and it's not there!

You need to configure the buttons you want. It is all done from within the app. Please don't claim something does not work if you never even looked at the settings.
