Where does this cool looking watch come from? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a little clock/speaker thingy, and when I put my G2 on it, a certain way, I get this watch, and it stays on the screen for about 5 seconds. It ONLY happens when I put it on the speaker, and it has to be at an exact location on the speaker. The watch is pretty cool and I'd like to use it for daydream Has anyone else seen this?
Oh it has happened with all firmware versions, including kk.

That's for the window flip case, the magnetism from the speaker is affecting the sensor on the phone and it thinks you have the case on your phone so it shows the clock

There is a magnet in the screen on the left about a 1/4 way down. It turns the screen on and off, and enables the clock. You can place a magnet here to get it to work.
You can flick the clock to change its theme.

Stupid magnet.

ok so, ive noticed recently that my TMO MDA, takes a while to load correctly on an incoming call, because it has to rotate the display, even tho i put it in normally.
turns out...
my case has magnets at the top, and no matter how i put the fone in, it will pick up that magnet, and rotate itself, then rotate back. WHY?????????
i was thinking that i could just like basically find the component ( if ur looking at the back, its toward the bottom left, behind the stylus holder) and remove it.
but maybe theres a better way?
any thoughts?
wouldn't it be easier to take the magnets out of the case? replace them with velcro or something? I certainly wouldn't alter my phone so it works with the case.
That's because the sensor is a reed switch. When the keyboard slides out, a magnet on the keyboard moves close enough to the switch in the other half of the phone to activate it.
Removing the switch (even if you found it - they can be really tiny) would result in phone screen not rotating with keyboard slided out, and you probably wouldn't want it, would you? I'd say to modify the case with velcro or some diffrent locking mechanism, or get another case instead.
that would make sense
ima try to modify my case then. thanks for the immediate response!

Dissasembly, screen rotate broken

I recently replaced the screen in my 6800 - (I'm out of insurance replacements, and I don't like the Touch Pro Verizon offered me very much.)
The dissasembly and re-assembly went swimmingly - except for the fact that my phone now reverts to Landscape every time it wakes up, as if the switch that detects the sliding motion is broken or disconnected.
Does anyone have any details of where this switch is and how it works? I have heard mention of it being a magnetic reed switch, but I also see a little tab of metal in the slide mechanism that looks like a contact closure point for this.
Any ideas or information?
I know this isn't probably the best answer, but have you looked into software that will rotate the screen? You could then assign that software to a button and rotate that way.
Yeah, I have "Screen Rotate" mapped to the messaging button, but it still reverts to landscape every time the phone goes to sleep, even if I set the screen mode to "portrait" in the settings.
I took it apart all the way again last night, I still can't find any sign of the mechanism it uses to detect open/close.
There are some metal ground clips on the lcd side that I think it uses to sense its location. If you slide the phone out you will see a gold colored clip in one of the slide groves.

[Q] Screen not completely off when using flip covers?

Hey guys, this is extremely bothering. I have an xqisit folio case that also doubles as a stand. Anyways, when I open the case, the screen lights up, and if I open it just ever so slightly, I notice there's this view mode that displays time and battery, the information that shows through the s view cover.
Anyways, I don't own a s view cover nor do I want one. I also don't want the screen to light up when I open the case because that means the screen's not completely off/phone's not completely resting and uses up more battery.
How the hell can I disable this? I've googled and found nothing and also gone through the settings but found nothing there as well.

well i suppose your folio case uses also the magnetic sensor used by the s-view cover to turn the screen on and off.
as this switch was primary implemented for the s-view cover its the default behaviour to show the s-view screen when you close your cover.
afaik there is no mod to change it right now but i hope this "s-view mode" will be customizable in future with the help of our fantastic community devs! :fingers-crossed:
anyway dont worry about the battery consumption too much as the s-view screen is only displayed for about 5 seconds and then the screen turns completely off.

Thanks a lot! Out of thanks for the moment so can't thank you.
I have S view cover.
When the screen is unlocked and you close the cover, it will show the time. If u open it a little, it will still show time. But if you open it till roughly more than 30 degrees, it will either show the lockscreen(for those with passcode/pin etc.) or homescreen(for those with no lock).
When screen is off and you close the cover, it will not show anything. Open the cover alittle, maybe around 20degrees, it will still not show anything.

Screen turns off when I cover the ambient light sensor?

Sometimes when I hold my phone in a way that covers the light sensor, the screen turns off. I'm guessing it's a feature like when you hold it up to your face to talk or something, but it can get extremely annoying when it misfires (which it does a lot).
Has anyone else had this issue? I have a white D801 on tmo.
Isn't this a feature of all phones so that you dont accidentally turn it on and dial while it's in your pocket?

Yeah, but it's only supposed to happen when you are calling someone. My G2 is turning off if I cover the ambient light sensor while on the homescreen.
I have just started noticing this on my Verizon G2 with clean rom. It seems to do it the most right after you turn on the screen.

Yup. I'm on stock and it happens the same. If you turn on the screen with your thumb over the sensor, it will turn off again quickly even if you try to unlock it.
When this happens it usually happens when you are in a hurry. Really annoying but the benefit is that this feature does keep the phone off when it is in your pocket knocking about.

Do you folks have the option enabled that turns the screen off if it doesn't detect your eyes on it? That may be the culprit when covering the sensors.

LG G2 Magnetic Settings

I got the ARAS case that has a huge magnet and when I open my phone and flip the cover all the way to the back it turns the phone off.
How can I change the sensitivity settings for the magnet?
PS
I tested with Tasker and there is a big difference in magnetism when the phone cover is close versus opened all the way to the back of the phone

I haven't seen anything on the settings or build.prop, kernel or elsewhere to control the magnetic sensitivity on the switch of the G2... Actually I think it's only either on or off detection for the Quick Window case. You can enable it or disable this on the Accessories menu.
Good luck!
Ok, how about using tasker to activate or deactive the quickwindow case option?
Right now I have tasker set to turn the screen off when magentism is between 0 to 60, and when I flip the cover back the screen stays on
