Hi,
I have a Galaxy S4 GT-I9505. I want to make a nandroid backup.
I installed Rom Manager via the Play Store, and I clicked on; Install CWM.
After installing CWM I pressed on the firmware backup button.
My phone rebooted and showed blue letters: Booting Recovery. But I came into the default recovery from Android, not into CWM.
Why can't I access CWM? Rom Manager said it's installed.
Regards,
Michael
Maybe, you need to install a different kernel.

I have stock ROM from Samsung, rooted with Kingo Android ROOT.
Rom Manager said CWM is installed, how to un-install it if it doesn't work?

Using Kingo method you wont be able to flash custom rom/recovery. Root your phone by flashing CF-Auto root via Odin n then you can install CWM. Knox will be triggered.

Thanks for your answer. Do I need to un-root Kingo first, or does Odin overwrite it when I use CF-auto root?
And what will happen with my apps when I un-root kingo? (I have a few apps that require root).

Yes you have to unroot. You can do this from the Superuser app by clicking unroot. Cf auto root works best if the phone is reset to factory settings as this may prevent flashing errors of Odin. For your apps which require root , you have to back up them for future use as reset will wipe them. Hit thnx if helpd.

Hi everyone, I need help, because today I was trying to install TWRP (2.7.0.4 and also tried 2.7.0.34) in my Exynos Note 3 with Odin 3.09 (I tried 3.07 too) and I do the process correctly and it says RESET! with no errors, but when I try to enter the recovery, it boots the stock recovery :/
Why is this happening?
Thank you very much.
Did you flash CWM before that? Odin and TWRP aren´t friends
Or try TWRP manager. In manager flash img

No because I don't have the phone rooted, the idea is install the recovery and then root it. I will try with CWM
Didn't know you could install custom recovery without being rooted. . and I think you don't. If you want to root anyway than just do it and than install cwm mate.

I solve the problem, I untick the Auto reboot in Odin and then enter recovery without restart and installed a .zip to solve that program and then I rooted it and I'm happy

Just informed myself..lol and you are right. But it is a real pain in the a**. You need to flash bootloader and... never mind he fixed it anyway by rooting
I purchased a note 3 model : N900 I have rooted the device with Kingo and now wish to install CWMR. I entered into download mode to install the recovery img file and was greeted with Chinese symbols! Anyway to chance this?
1. Kingo root is the worst root you can ever use.
2. Flash stock ROM via Odin. (It wipe kingo root and residues after kingo..)
3. Root again. (CF-auto-root or Use Philz touch recovery and flash superSU.zip)

Thanks for your advice, sadly after reading and reading I have seen more posts regarding this issue. The kingo software says your can click the unroot button but is malware still present on the device after the root removal? Also I can not flash stock rom via odin as I already stated its in bloody Chinese.

Update: Managed to install CWM using MTK DROID instead all done
Hi there,
I have a Samsung Note 3 "SM-N9005" with the original stock firmware and I recently updated some of my Android firmware files to 4.4.2 using the official software updater, when I rebooted after the update I have lost my ability to access the Clockworkmod Recovery and I can only access the original phone recovery mode, even-though I still have SuperSU installed and my phone is still rooted.
I have tried re-installing CMW Recovery using both the RomManager and flashing it using Odin, I also tried flashing the "CF auto root" , but all my efforts was of no use.
Please help
Thanks

1. Stock Recovery appears when you flash new Stock ROM.
2. Root access dissapears too when you flash new Stock ROM. SuperSU is only the app for manage the root access that you can download of the Play Store being rooted or no.
3. Dial *#1234# and tell me what appears. You will need reflash the stock Rom maybe.
4. Flash correct CF-Auto-Root then.
5. I recommend u use TWRP or Philz Recovery better than CWM.
I used your CF Auto Root, and now I have root access, so when I dial *#1234# the supersu opens.
Still cant install CNW Recovery, How I could restore my nandroid backup to downgrade the OS if I cant accesses CNW Recovery mode?

You can't downgrade the OS. You can use TWRP that i told u before. Only flash it through ODIN.
I managed to install "PhilZ CNW Recovery" instead. How could I use PhilZ to downgrade the android from 4.4.2 to 4.3 using my nandroid backup from before?
Should I restore thee backup directly, or should I wipe the partitions first?

What is the best way to root sprint s4 on 4.4.2? Can I just odin twrp & then flash superuser zip?
Cf auto root. It will void Knox warranty.

The best way to root your device is the one most convenient for you. The method you suggested should work fine, and you can always use cf auto root as daniel suggested. I don't have any experience with towelroot but between the two aforementioned procedures you should be good to go. If you are gonna flash a custom rom there is no need to flash supersu zip save yourself an extra step if that is the case and just flash the latest custom recovery of your choice (my preference is twrp)

Hi i want to root Stock 6.0.1 mm and keep stock recovery. So do we have to flash TWRP in order to root stock 6.0.1 mm? Or just flashing the cf-root file via odin alone will give root access? Thanks

CF-root via odin will root your device and you'll keep stock recovery.
I wonder what's the point of keeping stock recovery by the way

Thanks, i tend to use stock samsung rom always, but just like root to remove crap, titanium backup and some apps that require root permissions. Btw what options on odin do we tick when flashing the cf-root file?

Hmm, I guess if you never need to flash anything then keeping the original could be OK.
I'd say trwp is still useful to perform backup (entire rom at a time).
Well normally, you don't need to tick any options (the useful ones are ticked already).
So, only auto reboot and F.Reset time should be ticked.

Hi mate, just rooted my s5 via odin and cf-root file. However every time I reboot the phone, i get a "Set warranty bit" message in yellow at the top of the screen, I did do a wipe cache after I rooted. How do i remove that message? thanks
To my knowledge, you can't get rid of this message which was tripped by the rooting process.
But it doesn't make any difference anyway so you might as well leave it!
Then, you can run the root to the Galaxy S5 SM-G900F Android 6.0.1 and Kernel of May 31, 2016 without triggering this blessed knox 0x1?
I still have not figured out if it is feasible, and if you can do as you progress? Towelroot works?

It doesn't. I installed all these automatic upgrades and tried to use towelroot, but it said, that the device isn't supported. :crying: :crying: :crying:
do i need to unlock the boooader before or after
do i need to unlock the boooader before or after?
or not at all?
obviously the first file that i need to flash (twrp) is the custom recovery.
do i unlock the bootloader before this?
