[Q] Out of Space??? [SOLVED]

I'm about to destroy my phone and go back to iPhone 5 because that didn't constantly make me want to destroy everything around me.
I wanted to side-load an app. I just unlocked my bootloader and rooted it and was re-installing my apps.
When I go to install an app it says that there is no more space. the file is 4.85mb and I have 12GB of storage left.
I tried:
-Re-booting
-Installing other apps (which works)
-Clearing the cache
-Downloading Trail from PlayStore (I get the same result)
NEW:
-When plugged in via USB to my PC, device doesn't show up under "Computer" [Running Windows 7 x64)
What I did:
I backed up my phone and wiped the whole thing because I was running out of time last night
Thankfully Foxnov1990 and ImbaWind's tips worked. I restored the original backup and it solved my problem. Thanks so much! Love ya guys! :victory:
AFAIK my friend and I don't have this problem with our N4 and my friends don't have this problem with their GNEX.
Btw this is a N4 forum.

it's your problem you don't know how to solve, not google's.
if you're here just to unleash this anger then YOU leave.
the guy is right about what he said in the first line.
android wasn't made to piss you off, it was made to stay stock, but you rooted it.
solution? easy: 1) install a stock-like ROM or 2) unroot...
Lol you'll get a lot of constructive answers with your style of posting What have to tried so far to fix the problem? Could we get a screenshot of your storage page?

However, I've never had that with my old GNex or my current N4 so I can't help you personally

I get the attitute, but you might wanna at least try to be friendlier as we're just here to help.
But On-Topic: have you tried this?
File explorer (app)
Go to /data/app (in System (root))
Del this line
com.maxmpz.audioplayer-1.odex
I've had it before that on stock ROM (aka unlocked bootloader and rooted) which means that it's not DEodexed that some Odex files were left behind. Which means that whatever you try, as long as that file is there, you won't be able to install the app. (shouldn't happen but it's possible in rare occasions)
Hope it helped.
If it didn't help and the Odex file is not there, see if you have Lucky Patcher installed, deinstall it (it sometimes holds on to odex files), and try installing PowerAmp now. Then reinstall Lucky Patcher

Honestly, I have installed and deinstalled the app more than you can possibly imagine... and I've nearly never had issues with reinstalling.
And when I did get issues it was Lucky Patching (having patched the app) that was holding on to the odex and I couldn't delete it till Lucky patcher was deinstalled.
So not sure what **** you mean but there was always an easy solution for me

Oh yep, always happen when I use lucky patcher to removed the app's ads !
I've run into a similar issue before.
I've had similar issues when I've removed an .apk using adb or root explorer without removing its associated .odex file.
Use root explorer and try to find an .odex file that has the same name as the package that you are having trouble installing.
There are some cache cleaning utilities in the Play store that might assist you as well.

how would I go about doing that?
Go to cwm and go to backups and restore. Find an option that says delete backups.
Delete every backup and then make a fresh new one.
How big are your backups, generally?

I downloaded lucky patcher to see if it would work and clear the cashe but it did nothing. I can download any new app just can't update some.
The most space being used is the "system memory" which is using 6gb of data then the next one is apps but that's just 1gb

Try this old post I wrote but it seemed to work for a buddy of mine recently. Couldn't hurt to try.
I had this exact problem right after doing the hotspot mod off qbkings site. Eventually after clearing cache and resets I couldn't get the phone to make it through boot into Android. It was giving me google.transport errors or something. I gave up and ODINed the stock rooted mf9 rom back to it. Phone is fine now, has been for a week or more, but I'm leary of trying to hotspot mod again...although I really need it.

Your first problem was using qbkings site for files instead of getting them from the xda forum where the instructions and files are the correct ones. Almost all problems with the hotspot mod are caused by either installing the wrong file or a bad download of that file. You MUST know whether you are "ODEXED" or "DEODEXED", after you know that, then you need to make sure you know what firmware you are on, MF9, MDL, MDC. Once you have that info, you go to crawj's thread in the development section and download the correct zip file and install in recovery. If you matched the correct file with your firmware and odexed condition than you will not have any problems. I can't believe how many people rely on these how to videos that are usually so out of date that they are dangerous to follow.
Spoken like a true know it all...thanks.
Stock rooted MF9 ROM using the MF9 odexed version services files.
Xfered files manually via ESfiles. Causes issues with new installs...
I don't have a custom recovery to flash from. I odexed the ROM in there.
and alot of times, if not most, qbking references the original files on xda.
Try this!

Delete the Folder 'lost+found' in the system storage.. Works under CM 10.2
Use lucky patcher.
It shows insufficient storage because some file of the app already exists in your sdcard.(if you had installed the app before and removed)
By using lucky patcher, It automatically finds the unused .odex file and deletes it. You can then install the app successfully without any error

Looks like they are on external sd card and there is a read/write issue with some apps here.
If you are rooted there is a fix. Most custom roms include the fix though if you search you will find how to do it yourself.
Otherwise you will need to wait until the apps are updated and write to different partitiion
Hey not-i im on crash rom v6 and I was on his thread and another user installed a few of the apps and reported no probs, I hope it has to do with the apps not my at the least, thanks bro for ur help....

[APP] Android L Launcher

Just wanted to mention that the official Android L launcher works on our Tabs
I have attached the .apk
You have to change the build.prop to get the new UI
set ro.build.version.codename to L and reboot
It works also as a system app, no FC's.
Supports 4.2.2 / 4.3 / 4.4.2
Note: You have to update/download the latest Google Search app and Google Mail may force closing
Proceed with caution, you may end up having boot-loops !

hi i would ask that you amend your post to mention this launcher requires google search to be functional.
As per your instructions I did so and the launcher does not register as system app without google search,
and on regular install call for updated google search to function.
thank you for reading.

No i did not, i just installed given apk (it updated current google now launcher), and changed build.prop
anyway, i tryed to fix premisions, and delete the google launcher from the app folder from recovery, but still rebooting continued.
and while trying to fix the build.prop from the recovery, i funked the system a bit, so a reflashed the whole rom again, so I'm back at the begining... (no new launcher, but tab works fine...)

It seems like, you screwed up inside the build.prop
Or, it only works as a system app on 4.4.2, that would be bad.

well, i used root explorer to edit build.prop, and i didnt change anything except switch REL with L...
but i guess build.prop was screwed somehow, it managed to stay on for a while before the reboot a few times (for about half a minute), but it kept giving the fc error screens for play services, mail, etc, and then restarted again.
I will try it in a few minutes!

Optimising App message on every boot problem

After not using my car for a few weeks everytime I start my car and boot the headunit now it shows the 'Android is Starting Optimising App 1 of 1' message then continues to boot normally. Not sure why this is happening now as I changed any software or installed any new apps since not using the car.

which head unit brand? custom rom or not? xposed installed?
It is a 3rd part installed app but something is indeed wrong. Mostly uninstalling and reinstalling fixes it.
Check your android log (logcat) which app is optimizing as that is written to the logcat.
and I mention xposed as some xposed module hack into an apk and thereby "corrupt" the dalvik cache leading to a new optimisation on every boot.
Joying Intel unit with 2GB on stock ROM but rooted, no Xposed. I've installed a logcat app so what should I search for to find optimising apps?

You should search for that optimizing message in the logcat.
The other (very boring and time consuming) action you can do is to uninstall and reinstall the third party apps one by one and do a reboot.

I've checked the log after every reboot and it never mentions anything to do with optimising apps. Is it possible logcat does not have permission to view this as when I start the app it request extra permissions via ADB to view 'all logs'?
Why would this only start happening now, could it just be a recent app update that has triggered it?

As you are rooted you should be able to see everything.
It could very well be a recent app installation or a recent update.
But I already mentioned that in post 2
Ok thanks I'll try another log app or grant the ADB permissions etc.
It must be an app update as I have not installed any apps before it started and I have very few 3rd party apps installed anyway which update via the Play Store.
Would it be safe to say that I only really need to try uninstalling apps which recently updated before the optimising error started?
Problem solved. Turns out it was my Speedometer app causing it.
