Hi Folks, The time has come to formally retire my HD2. It’s been 3+ years since I bought the unit from T-Mobile , not brand new but a refurbished one. So far to date, no hardware trouble yet and will still that way since it will be just in my drawer and will serve as a backup.
The successor is a brand new Nexus 5, 32GB with 2Gig of memory – a very, very fast unit. I already rooted it, still with the Stock Rom on it, but eventually will taste other Nexus 5 ROMS out there.
My HD2 obviously will miss all the flashing activities that it is used to, from WM to Android ROMS – GB, ICS, GB, KK.
I’d like to thank first Tytung for all his hard work keeping our HD2 up to date with the latest ROM in the market.
Thanks also to other HD2 developers/ROM builders/testers, to name a few that in one way or another I used their ROMs or interact with – Dorimanx, Pongster, Xylograph, AmeriCanAndroid, securecrt, boxmax, mccmjoon76, Learning Never Ends team (Robbie P, wis1152, c1cl0n), boonbing, kovjanos, mark1706, tyween, kokotas, sbrayn12144, mskip, xboxmod (WM7).
And lastly thanks to Cotulla, for the creation of his MAGLDR masterpiece.
Thanks gasanpride, best of luck with your new phone. Happy flashing

hello everybody!
which is the best android rom on sd card for hd2 leo?
thanks
This is asking for a very personal opinion, and I'm sure someone else will post a "this is not a helpful question etc...."
...But for my money, I recommend Motoman234 EVO Black&Blue Remix. It has not been updated since December - but every week I try other ROMs (both NAND and SD) and I still keep coming back to this. It's just very very perfect (I'm in the UK on O2). Certainly worth a try, even if it's on the old side now.
I keep trying to find a better ROM (and I'm sure there are better NANDs than this), but I'm still too happy with this, and am waiting for a stable Sense 3.0 from somewhere before really looking to switch.
(This is from someone who changed his ROM every week on Windows 6.5 in the pursuit for perfection!)

thank you very much for your quickly answer!
i'm looking this rom and it's very good, now i have Mdeejay FroYo Sense Matted 1.4 but don't like very much, i want try this Motoman234 EVO Black&Blue Remix i hope is great.
bye
i tried many sd roms. at last i decided americandroid is fast, stable and up to date . it doesn't look good but you can make it better with 'fancy widget' like things. i also like '3dak's miui rom. its' looking is really good altough has some stability problems.
I have been running wih my HD2 for 3 years now with WM6.5x on orange in the UK& various OS upgrades from members here ......
Looking for a suitable replacement that is not an Iphone all suugestions welcome
Many Thanks in Advance
why replace?
I recomed you just install any os you like WP7 or Andoriod GB? read inside on how to do so. HD2 hardware is magnificient can run anything.
As recommended try any nand build, I use the coreDroid 1.7 its fast very stable and easy to use, the best bit is that its very well supported with Guys who are willing to go the last mile to help you set it up and iron out any issues
Definitely worth putting either a WM7.5 or Droid ROM on and waiting until early next year when quite a few new devices will be out running Android 4.0. I'm amazed you have been running one for 3 years! It was only released in UK pretty much 2 years ago to the day. ;-)
The same position
Hi guys,
I'm running my Rolls-Royce from almost 2 years and I'm wondering which next device will be as good as this one and with the same possibilities...
All we know the HTC Sensation or Samsung SII are not revolutionary as our HTC HD2 was 2 years ago.
How much time we have to wait to see 1.5-2 MHz processors ?
Thanks for new ideas.
Kindest Regards
Plnf
I am running on it for past one year (Nand GB) and satisfied with its versatility. How ever I dropped it in river once and since then some problem or the other keep on appearing.I am thinking for a replacement - Galaxy note.Although Galaxy Nexus is a close competition , I would choose note for its screen if it can be upgraded later to ICS.
I'd wait.
I would wait. The HTC Titan looks promising and it's running a 1.5, but it seems massive when you read the specs, but then again, so did the HD2 when it first came out.
I'm not sure what I will do when my phone eventually dies. I've been running various versions of HyperDroid since I made the switch to NAND 6 months ago. I'm very happy that I did. I was never pleased with the various custom windows ROMS out there.
Stick with your HD2 if it's still in good shape. Flash HyperDroid v5.3. It's smooth and stable and runs quite fast. I haven't tried any other NAND ROM simply because I have been so pleased with HyperDroid and the wealth of information and support behind it.
YMMV of course. Each HD2 runs unique. My wife's HD2 runs completely different on the same ROMs.
3 years? it only came out in nov 2009
I was getting tired of WM6.5 on my HD2 aswell. But flashing it with Android made me cheer up. Android with up to date apps is way better than the crappy build phone service provider has in stock.
First off a big thank you to all the devs and forum members who have made owning a HD2 such a joy these past couple years. Easily the best phone I've eve owned.
My question
I recently upgraded my wife to a Galaxy Tab. We live in Thailand and my T-mobile HD2 has never worked quite right here so I will be sending it back for my daughter (11 y.o.) to use in the USA. I will be taking my wife's Asian HD2 for a daily phone. My daughter wont be able to upgrade ROM's.
My question to the forum is...what would be the best, most stable daily ROM for the T-mobile phone going back to the USA. In other words, if you knew you could only flash one more ROM and that had to last the lifetime of the phone, what would it be? I am leaning towards a GB ROM due to the stability issues I am experiencing with ICS (Paranoid atm) but I am open to any recommendations.
Thank you.
id say you were right on the money with a GB rom, , ics is fairly stable, but not quite there yet. Id also stay away from sense roms, they look lovely, but will possibly make the phone feel a little sluggish to an 11 yr old, comparing it to her friends.
a CM7 rom, would be my suggestion, something like typhoon.
stability= hyperdroid rom
I reccomend you to stay away from the Sense, MIUI etc. roms. My all-time stabilty favourite is Nexus HD2, version 3.2a. It's a clean Android 2.3.7 rom. It litteraly never crashed on my EU HD2.

What is an 11-years old girl supposed to do with a smartphone. When I was that age, I couldn't even dream about one!

I agree i never had a phone until i could pay for it myself xD but hey all my friends had them, granted they were stick phones but they still had them. I just hope she doesnt use it for wrong things :/ i know too many of my friends who got in trouble for sending inappropriate things to guy friends. Makes me wonder what this world is coming to.. i hate it.
However!
ON TOPIC :S
I actually would recommend a MIUI ROM considering many younger kids have the iPhone, and MIUI is a lot like it. Simply put, i think it would be easiet for her to use. Where as CM7 has so many options for things that she may not even know how to navigate around, but since i dont know her she may be smarter than me xD i would say its up to what your daughter likes, does she like customability, or does she like ease of use? Plus ive never seen many posts about people struggling with MIUI roms (i.e. random crashes bootloops etc) So there are my two cents
+1 to MIUI. I only used it for a short while, but the UI was very slick compared to CM7. Would be ideal for a younger child.

@radiant777
try out this ROM & believe you me even you would like it
Samsung SII ROM via MIUI
SD >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633354
NAND >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420575
load some apps & customize it first before giving it to her.
thx!
I will try out the nexus for a few days then the miui for a few days and see what works the best. Thanks for the advice.
Please don't flame me for asking this question, I've read a lot, but still have not found a definitive answer for this question.
Is there a fully functional android rom (preferably SD) gingerbread or ics, that has everything working ok with no bugs, just like an wm 6.5 rom?
I'm asking this because I'm pondering buying an used HD2 for some android goodness, and can't completely decide if it's the way to go. Since I would like everything to work smooth and stabile, for instance like my stupid iphone 3gs (please don't judge, got it as a gift years ago).
I thank you all for your replies in advance!
p.s. before this crap i had a diamond, tried probably all the roms from 2009 onwards, bricked it only twice
Most roms on here are 100% functional, I love my hd2 but my digitizer is broken

Does the digitizer brake easily on HD2?
Digitizers on HD2 are notorious for breaking! My original HD2 which I had for three years needs a replacement. I love HD2 so much I replaced it with another one running Ansar's WP 7.8 and Boxmax Android in NativeSD. WP 7.8 works wonderfully and is my daily use OS. No problems whatsoever. My Boxmax Android is old and I need updating to its latest build but I find I rarely use it so I always put off on doing that.
By the way, I don't know if anybody has asked u yet but how'd you come about with that handle "rape_artist"? Just curious....

For practical use, yes.
If you look deep enough, no.
Because the HD2 was originally a Windows device some new drivers are simply not available for it.
Having said that, the Typhoon Gingerbread ROM had *everything* working. If one does not need the latest JellyBean ROM it will work flawlessly. The only things that will not work are a few newer apps written for Android 4.x and up, such as Apex or Nova launchers.
The newer ICS and JB ROMs work well but again, you can find a few 720p videos which will not play right. Netflix also has issues and will not run.
If you figure out which exception you can live without the HD2 can be a good choice.

Not the way you probably assume. The good old days when i played unreal tournament 12 hours a day. One time i managed to wipe out 12 man semi professional team alone (playing over a 56k, mind you they all had dsl). One of mine team mates said they got raped, the added that i was an rape artist. The rest is history, nice childhood memories. I do have to add that it is my humble opinion, all rapist (in real life) should be (by law of course) hung from a tree and whipped till they die...
Back on topic. Since i find it useless opening a new topic on wp subforum, i would like to ask you also are there any fully functional windows phone roms? I know they had some big issues a while ago.

Ansar's WP Rom is fully functional! Everything working. I have not tried any of the others b/c I heard there were some problems with BT and headset. I never had any problems with mine. It's been running like butter for over 3-4 months. I haven't updated it cuz I felt no need to.
so would it be a good deal if I could trade in my Iphone directly for an HD2 with no exchange of cash?

Hello to all...
I'm working some months by now, in a mobile games developing company (for both iOS & Android).
So, I had to own both OS' devices, to testing my work of our games (in the devices); I bought a used iPhone 4 16GB and now I need to buy an Android one. I've checked and a nice 'n cheap Android's choice is about $150 or so.
Well, I thought to use my former device, a TMobile USA HD2, to port a NAND Android rom.
The problem is, I stopped dealing with my ex-HD2 since I had ported the "Energy" WM6.5...
So, I don't know what's the process to port a NAND Android rom - I mean a modern one, a new build.
Also, I need a suggestion for such a rom; I want a very stable & fast one, "all-in" rom. I don't want to deal with the Android, I won't start searching for apps and such - just I need a fast/stable/"completed" Android device, to install our games there and checking my work.
Kind regards to everyone who likes to help me on this issue.
Hello and welcome,
First, please use a descriptive title
The HD2 is quite an old device, so if you are to build heavy games, don't expect them to run on the HD2, or at least run well.
As for the ROMs, almost all the roms on the first page (ICS) are fully working, just make sure to double check the first few posts to know what's going on. And you can find how-tos almost everywhere, a quick search on google/youtube will help you.
Good luck in everything .
Thxs for your answer.
M8, I'm working on CASINO's games. Therefore, are not so "heavy".

If you want a complete rom try Tytung NexusHD2 Ics 4.0.4 rom.
It is the best rom you will get for tmous hd2.
I am using the same rom and very happy with it. :good:
I did, thxs - but not the "HD", the "ice-cream" of him.
The other one is more "new", maybe more slow for the "good-old" HD2.
