My Galaxy S4 is unable to boot into charge mode (when I plug it in when it is off). It will turn on, but start on the screen displaying the battery icon and never finish booting into charge mode. As a result, it ends up draining the battery and doesn't charge at all.
So, what part of the phone contains the "charge mode"? What do I need to wipe/restore to get it working again? Is something else wrong?
I can post screenshots if needed, but I am doing many tasks at the moment, so I'll only put them up if needed later.

Fixed by re-flashing stock boot loader and image.

Guys,
This happened as I woke up this morning. Saw my phone showing the screen of battery charging when being switched off and looping back in the same. The phone won't restart. Tried flashing JVB from download mode but the moment phone is switched off. The same battery charging screen shows up and the phone doesn't boot up. Kindly provide some expertise on the same. Thanks in advance.
Just Checked: It'll boot up when connected to a charger but otherwise it wouldn't boot up. All this is on JVB haven't tried going cyanogen yet.
So can you or can you not enter download mode?
try remove battery and wait 5 min.,than try again
My brother just installed CM on his phone. It all worked fine and then a few days later, when restarting the phone, it showed the galaxy s4 logo screen and then a few seconds later it turns off.
Now it won't even turn on. I have to remove the battery and then replace it and then only it turns on. Only to turn off again.
I try to go into recovery or bootloader, but it turns off again. The recover or bootloader screen shows up but then the phone turns off in a few seconds.
Cannot detect on ODIN. When I plug a USB cable in, it won't turn on at all. Even when I replace the battery and try. If I could just connect it through ODIN, I could flash the stock rom and kernel.
There is also an error message on the top left of the screen saying, "Kernel Is Not Seandroid Enforcing, Set Warranty Bit". Is this an issue?
Really need some help. No clue what is going on with this phone...

I guess the error message you was in download mode. Did you tried replacing your battery and then going recovery or download mode?
This is not a software problem.
You have a faulty battery or some other hardware failure.
I will try another battery. My mate has an S4 that works. I will use his battery and see if it is the battery.
I was hoping it wouldn't be the hardware. It is out of warranty now.
Thanks guys.

I can also be a broken power button. Those parts are like € 2 and not that hard to replace.
Hello,
My phone only turns on if battery is present and it's plugged in to a power source. It does not power while only on a power source.
When it turns on for 5 seconds a Kies Firmware Restore warning is shown and then it tunrs off and powers back on again, when trying to enter download mode it does the same thing, showing the download screen only for 5 seconds, which renders any ROM modifications useless...
What should I do?
I also tried the unbrick plug but it didn't work.
I have same issue with a friends mobile, i am trying to help him out but it just goes off like 5 secs after it turns on, not enough time for recovery flash, the mobile was stock and he proberly in his drunken party fun accidently put it into to download mode and the power went off.
Pretty sure that is how, atm i am trying to charge the battery to make sure it aint the battery that is dead.
up please
Hey, if people are still stuck with this, here is how u can fix :
Buy a new battery and flash, or solder/tape 2 wirer to a usb cable that u plug to a power source and then flash (thats what i done)
Hi guys,
I have an issue with my phone:
Yesterday, tried to restore factory settings, since the phone was quite slow.
A second or so after I confirmed the reset, the phone turned off and wouldn't start.
I took out the battery and it was swollen.
I bought a new battery today, inserted and stated the phone.
What happens now, is that the phone boots, Samsung logo appears, then the TWRP logo appears, from this point, the phone stuck at this logo screen,
and flashes every few seconds (I can't post a video here, so I can share the link in private, if anyone can take a look).
I tried to leave the phone for about 20mins without battery at all, removed SD cards, removed SIM cards, no use.
Trying to boot to recovery or download mode gives the same result.
Tried today with an original battery of a friend's Galaxy S4 , same result.
Does anyone have an idea what I can do?
Thanks in advance for you help

Sound to me your power button is stuck/faulty. Does it reboot also when in download mode? If so, then it's your power button. Wiggle it loose or replace it.

It never gets to download (or recovery) mode...
It keeps flashing at the logo of the TWRP
Trying to boot to download or recovery modes, gives the same results
I don't think it's the power button. Otherwise it would turn off if it is stuck or not turn on at all if it's faulty.
Still, I wouldn't exclude it.
The screen flashing might related to a GPU problem. I don't think it is a problem you can fix yourself.
Hey Guys,
My phone gets stuck in a bootloop if I don't use a charger while turning it on. Actually, doesn't even get past the splash screen and reboots every 1 to 2 seconds. I also need to connect it to the charger to access TWRP. Normally, when I disconnect the charger after the phone has turned on, the phone suddenly turns off. But when I do the same when I'm in TWRP, nothing happens and I can continue using it without any problems. I'll put the logs if you neeed. And yes, I don't need the charger to get into fastboot mode. I'm currently on lineage 15.1 unofficial but the problem persists over other roms too. Please help...
Change the battery
It's the battery , which is under performing with the voltage needed to run the rom process,
That's why you are able to use with charger and got bootloop without charger. In twrp or any recovery mode most of the hardware is disabled and does not need much power.
Telling you with personal experiences
