New to the Note! - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Late to the party I know! Finally got my note 3, wanting to root. Saw video for rooting but says it won't work with MJ7, so I'm assuming it won't work for MJE firmware? Is there a working root for MJE?

[Q] Root for S4 i337 MK2?

Does anyone know if there's a legit way to root s4 i337 MK2? I keep getting conflicting info.
I tried Kingo Root yesterday. So far it seems to be working great. During the process, I received several pop ups to install software that was considered potentially harmful. I cancelled each install and was still able to gain successful root. While prices was simple and took about 5 minutes.

In the mf3 thread they said kingo is not recommended. Is there a reason it's not? I used kingo on mf3 and if it works on mk2 without problems I'd like to use again as I don't need custom recovery or roms. But I'm afraid of att updating again and it screwing my phone,
At one point, it had malicious code in it that grabbed personal data.

Jeesh. It worked so well too. Wish it could be reversed engineered to see what they did to root.
To answer your question, No there is no verified safe method to root MK2 if you are not already rooted prior to update.

Do you know if anyone is working on a root for this update?
Kingo works for MK2. I can confirm it worked with no added instability or apparent issues on the 2 I337 devices I've messed with. But is it reliable? Well, it does send your IMEI to a Chinese server for some unknown reason. You can try Vroot if you want but it's definitely not as 'user friendly' if you catch my drift.

So this definitely works? Now I've never had it rooted so this would be a first time root. Can you post a link

XDA evidently considers Kingo malware, so no link from here. But just type "kingo galaxy s4 root" into Google and it should be the top result. Their website states that it is for the i9500, but it has been confirmed for the i337. As always, USE THIS PROCEDURE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
We have a safe new root method if you guys want to try it. This is confirmed working on the VZW S4 but should work for you guys too. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48392009

SM-N900R4? Strange. If you download Wanam Xposed and Install the Xposed Installer, you can change your System Status to Official, and then set SuperSU to Survival Mode when updating to see if you can save root on OTA. If not, you'll just lose root, but be updated.

You've already tripped your Knox counter, there is no way of re-sitting this currently so no need for Kingo.
Upgrade to 4.4.2 using the various listen methods on Odin, the use CF-Root. It's the safest, it trips knox but since you already have this is irrelevant.

Reroot. But as your device is not really universally supported, you will have to find a way to root on the new firmware.

Trying to Root AT&T Galaxy S4 i337 4.4.2 methods fail, why?
I am trying to root my AT&T Galaxy S4 i337UCUFNB1 android 4.4.2 kitkat. I have tried the towelroot method by Geohot and it fails because the phone reboots and I've also tried the "motochopper" method :"http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40747604":4382 , which looked like it was going to work and then I get this error in the image provided. I don't know what I am doing wrong I followed the steps of both methods, if someone can help me figure this out I would be VERY grateful!

After rooting, install hashcode's SafeStrap (in android development section). Then you'll be able to install any TouchWiz based ROM (Verizon).

Use this link and it will tell you everything you need to know to root the verizon. and load custom roms. It is what i followed.
However if you have any troubles with kingo not rooting your phone, then try Kingo 1.1.6 version. Look at My sig down below at exactly what i did.

Towelroot??

Just wondering if anyone has tried the new towelroot.com on a sprint s4. I'm on the latest OTA and according to the thread it looks like it should work (kernel build date is Jan 2014). I might give it a go

please do report back! I'm currently on 4.3 and refuse to go to 4.4+ if I can't root safely without tripping Knox. I've been posting in the towelroot thread, but no one seems to know.

yeah possibly. but once you install a custom recovery you will trip knox flag. there's no way around that right now.

I havent tried it yet, but it looks like you can use towelroot to get root (to at least get xposed framework and debloat your phone) without tripping knox, but you wont be able to install a custom rom without tripping knox
Sadly, no dice. I tried it several times. It went through the motions and reboot, but never did anything to my knowledge. Installed rootchecker and it confirmed that root was not installed oh well.
