ROOT Lost after ATT update (FIXED) - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 General

Recently (3-1-14) I notice some of my apps crashing and that I could not get into Safestrap...then I notice I had a OTA update from ATT that unrooted my Phone...So I began to look for help and found that if you tried to use Kingo (latest version) to re-root your phone it did not work..You have to find an earlier version. For me (1.1.5) worked. Then after you get you root access back just re- install that programs that you may have trouble with and you should be back to normal...
I hope this helps...

[Q] Mobile Hotspot TetheringProvision.apk Modification Isn't Working

First off, hi everyone. This is my first post here after browsing for a few weeks. Yesterday I went ahead and rooted my AT&T s4 with the whole reason for doing so wanting to use wireless hotspot for free, and it isn't working.
Tl;dr I tried the TetheringProvision.apk mod technique and it just crashes my settings menu.
Full story:
After softbricking my phone and having to bring it into att 2 days ago I finally figured out a method of rooting it. I got this phone very recently and it came with the 4.4.2 (NB1) update pre-installed. I used the downgrade/root/safestrap method (using the OTA zip method because the stock with root zip wouldn't get past the att splash screen) and am back on 4.4.2/NB1. Everything is working, root included (verified by successfully changing system file names), but when I try to put in the TetheringProvision.apk file that used to work for the hotspot on my old MK2 phone from some other thread on this forum it just crashes my settings menu. The error I get is a "settings has stopped" popup and it kicks me out right when I move the "mobile hotspot on" slider. I'm really hoping there's a simple solution here, but if worst comes to worst I guess I'll just have to try a different rom? Attached is a screen shot of my about device. I really hope someone will be able to help, thanks in advance.
Ok, so I'm now thinking about backing up this rom in safestrap, and re-flashing the backup I made of the MK2 downgrade that I used to install the root. The problem with that was the wifi not working, but I just found a post about bypasslkm. Only problem is that I don't fully understand how to use bypasslkm and even through search I can't find a good guide on it. Could anyone here walk me through the dumbed down version of how to use it? From what I understand I flash the bypasslkm.zip just like I would any other rom, but I don't really get what to do after that. I'm kind of surprised that I'm the first one to have either of these issues, I couldn't find any good information via search.

There is a tethering AddOn in the same NB1_100%_Stock_Rooted_ROM & NB1 KeepRoot OTA zip thread that you can flash in safestrap.

OTA update when rooted D855

Hey, I have a LG D855, and I'm rooted on A6NL D855 V10G. My phone suggested to OTA update to V10I. Now I want to know if it's safe to do so. And if that's the case, what would happen to my root? I'd actually be glad to be rid of my root since I think it's lagging my device. So, what exactly would happen if I updated? Anybody with experience?
Would think although showing an ota when you download it it won't install as it will detect your root. In order to update you will have to return to unrooted state. A search will show a couple of threads instructing how to.
From what I understand, as long as you haven't made any changes within the system folder or installed a custom recovery, the OTA should install just fine. Worst case is if anything has been changed, it will tell you and it won't install. But yes, you will lose root once it is installed.
root and ota should be ok.
but be very careful if your g3 is bumped!! if you had installed bump! on your device, an ota update fails and the reboot always ended in the recovery. i tried almost erverything - no way out. i had no chance to reboot into the system!!
only flashing back to stock had fixed the problem (incl. loosing all personal data).

When u are rooted, it will download the new update (ota), but it will give a error when it installs. You have to update via pc.
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA Free mobile app
Just had this happen to me on LG G3 for AT&T
Was rooted, got prompted to install the update, I kept declining until it stopped asking.
Then my phone died, after plugging it in and restarting my phone, it instantly jumped into the update window with no other options.
It updated automatically, and it didn't stop or error because of my root. I'm on 4.2.2 now, most up-to-date version on AT&T.
To make it clear: I'm rooted with TowelRoot, NOT with Bump!

[Q] D801 root lost after recent OTA from TMobile

All,
I need help re-rooting my phone. I had a stock recovery, rooter phone (to remove/ disable bloat). I received an update from TMobile (the version is still 4.4.2, but build is now KOT49I.D80120g. I could not stop it from applying the update and my phone lost root. I'm now unable to find a way to root it again. Towelroot does not work (your device is not supported) and ioroot says it does not work on 4.4.2.
Please help with what could I try.
Thanks a lot in advance.
wondering if you ever found the solution,. i am on that build as well.
even worse is i can't get into download mode to go back to an older version and install a custom recovery.

[Q] Lost wi-fi when going to 4.4.4 from rooted 4.42- can't get it back

I rooted to 4.4.2 and it went fine- then I realized I had lost wi-fi.
I have tried to restore and tried using odin and zip files to install a stock rom after I found a similar problem with link on
Sprint forums saying it will fix the ""button won't stay on" but the fix only works if the device is in stock rom.
answer on Sprint forum says baseband version was mk2 needs to be nae.
Return the phone to stock, run the fix for the wi-fi and then re-root.
I have downloaded and ran several roms that say they are stock- I've factory reset, cleared cache, no matter what I do,
I end up with a rooted device in 4.4.2 and no wi-fi. If I could just get the wi-fi back I would take it at this point
This was just a little quick upgrade that turned bad and long
The Sprint forum had a link to get it to nae, but wont work if rooted., so need to put the phone back to stock- run the patch and then can upgrade to kit kat again
TLDR: I cannot get my Sprint s4 back to any version that isn't rooted. I have tried several (lots) of roms that say" stock-unrooted" rom,
Never goes back to stock- stays rooted without wifi-
Ran a rom VPUAMDC_L720SPTAMDC_SPR but when I install I get msge "ifooter is wring signature invalid" - and it fails.
reformatted the sd card, tried different roms and get some message and it stays rooted and no wifi.
TLDR: need to get stock rom so I can get back wi-fi and then root the whole thing. as 4.4.2 Or 4 , if it exists)
Any options and any ideas as to where or what to do?
EDIT: for clarity cause I am not making much sense at this point
Thanks
Heh... a TL;DR for a TL;DR... the internet is becoming one crazy place.

Maybe a dumb question, but why not just unroot first, then?

[Q] T-Mobile Galaxy S5 Root Lost After Phone auto-updated

Hey Guys, I'm brand new to these forums, and to this whole community so bare with me.
Basically I bought my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S5 phone around the time it came out, and I also had installed root on it via towelroot when Towel Root was first released. I did not update the phone at all for a long period of time and everything was working fine, until one day I was browsing under settings and accidentally tapped the "Software Update" button, then T-mobile auto-pushed an update onto my phone.
This update has caused the root on my phone to not work at all (Deemed useless) So I clicked SU and only a black screen popped up when I tried to open the app, so I uninstalled it, reinstalled it then got a message saying "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU Cannot install it. If you just upgraded to Android 4.3 you need to manually re-root your device" So I tried to re-root via towelroot method again. It seems the T-mobile update made my phone "Unsupported/Uncompatible" with TowelRoot's obsolete techniques, so now I'm in dire need of help.
My phone tried to push another t-mobile update (This time to upgrade to Lollipop) but it failed after attempting to install it after a reboot. So not only will my phone not update to Lollipop, but I'm not even rooted anymore and am unsure on how to get back rooted, or what to do next since I used rooting as a primary source to store apps on my SD Card. Kind of like i'm stuck in one spot? (Can't update your phone/can't root it the old method)
I'm brand new guys, Please can you break down to me what I should do, in order to obtain root again, and possibly be able to upgrade to Lollipop As well as prevent further pushed T-mobile updates? Here's some info if you need it
S5 Model Number: SM-G900T
Android Version:4.4.2
Kernel Version:3.4.0-262.. etc. (Tell me if you need the full kernel details)
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank YOU!
Flash this with ODIN
http://download.chainfire.eu/407/CF-Root1/CF-Auto-Root-kltetmo-kltetmo-smg900t.zip
(Will trip KNOX and void warranty)
Or flash a pre-June 2014 KK Kernel, root with Towelroot again, then flash back your current Kernel
Is this the only solution? And also is it the right one? o.o
Can anyone else please give me some feedback on the situation? I want to make sure I do this right, please just a little helps.
Bump
