I'm not sure what I did today but I screwed something up on my phone.
When I press the home button, the status bar flashes from transparent to black and back to transparent. All the icons in the status bar stay the same (no change) when doing so too. It will also do this on any of the home screens. It won't open the app drawer upon short key press.
If I'm in the app drawer it will flash as noted above but then take me back to the home screen (as it should). If I'm in an app, it too will take me back to the home screen.
Also long press and double tap work properly.
I've checked my Nova Launcher settings and they are correct. I also use Home2 and those settings are also correct.
What caused this to happen? I froze a small handful of items in TIBU this morning (maybe 4 or 5) and after I realized this happened I went back and defrosted all of them and still have this problem.
I've switched to TouchWiz just to see if anything changed and it produces the same problem.
I'm on AT&T, MK2, Rooted - What am I forgetting?

I think the home2 application was at fault. Maybe it updated over night? I'm not sure
Home2 isn't allowed the home button to take you to your app drawer. This worked fine up until today. I'm not sure what changed since last night but maybe this will help others?

.... and I have some questions that someone can hopefully answer. I've searched thru the Nook Color forums but couldn't find anything relevant.
First: Installation to EMMC on my Nook Color was flawless and all my apps installed and ran without problem.
This CM9 release is AWESOME! Everything looks and works great!!! Its so nice to have all the icons look great without having to screw with LCD density.
Questions: First question really important... other two just annoyances.
1) Full Screen Apps: I have Auto Hide checked under System>Combined Bar. Yet the status bar will not go away when running full screen apps such as Angry Birds, PowerAmp, and Repligo Reader. Is there another setting somewhere for this???? Or is this something that's broken and waiting to be fixed????
2) Soft Buttons in the status bar: There are three buttons showing: Back, Home & Recent Apps. The Home button is redundant as the Nook button does that. The Recent Apps button is totally useless for me and I would like to change it to a Menu button. But I can't find any settings for the Soft Buttons like there was in CM7 under the CyanogenMod settings.
3) Power Control Widget: I was able to turn buttons off and on in settings for the Power Control Widget in CM7. That appears not to be the case in CM9.... I only need and want the WiFi and Brightness buttons. How do I select Power Control Buttons in CM9?????
Running CyanogenMod version 9-20120703-UNOFFICAL-encore
Take a look at the AOKP port for the nook by Krylon360 in the dev thread. All that is possible.
Sent from my NookColor using xda app-developers app
Some things fixed....
I was unable to download Zeam Launcher from Google Play.
Said my device was incompatible.
Bullfeathers......
Found the newest Zeam version v3.1.10, downloaded and installed it, and it works just fine.
Running Zeam fixed problem number 1 above.... with Zeam running, the status bar is moved back to the top and all my full screen applications work perfectly now.
Problem number 2 has changed somewhat.... no soft buttons now in the status bar. This isn't a real problem as I'm used to using Button Savior, which really helps when in a full screen app. It would still be nice to move the status bar back to the bottom and have the Back and Menu soft buttons, but I can live with the way it is now.
Problem number 3 is still valid and I hope someone out there knows something about it.
Thanks j8048188 (wild handle there!)
I'll check it out, but at the moment I'm now totally happy with this version of CM9 as it sits.
Started playing with this upgrade at 4:30 this afternoon and now have everything the way I want it for a while. Time to actually use it instead of hacking it!
About wifi and brightness buttons.
I don't think you really need them, as when you touch the clock a mini menu appears with sliding bars to adjust them both.
Unleashed from my Revolutionized Desire HD
I see what you mean... controls available by tapping the clock.
But that window is still two touches away before actually changing the brightness or turning the wifi on or off. While the power control bar is just one touch.
After my S5 (non-rooted, official, knox 0x0) was updated to Lollipop, I've been facing the following problem:
Every few days all the app icons disappear from the apps menu. However, all the tabs that should contain them are still there, but are empty! Additionally, I cannot open any folder that contains app icons on the home screen. To add to that, when I click on the home-screen menu settings that should display the widgets, options etc. the screen does the zoom out effect but no icons/options appear; only an empty screen .
When that happens, I've tried switching to the "Easy Mode" interface option, which still works and thus I can access apps and settings again. If I switch, back to normal mode everything disappears once again!! :cyclops:
I've been able to fix this problem by going to the Application Manager and clearing the data/cache of the TouchWiz home-screen app, but every time I do that (second time today) I loose all home screen settings, widgets, icons order etc. and this is getting annoying!
-Edit 1-
Just found another way to solve this that seems to work:
1) Switch to Easy Mode
2) Restart phone
3) Switch back to normal mode and everything is back in place
-Edit 2-
OK, the above is only temporary; after a few minutes the problem came back!
Now added screenshots...
Anyone, with the same problem?
My auto rotate icon has disappeared from my notification panel and is missing from the available choices when I edit the list. I've cleared data from Touchwiz Home. I've re-enabled all packages (Disabler Pro) but to no avail. Any other ideas? I am not rooted.
Attached is a screen shot of my options.
Did you restart your device?
Try to turn it off and then on again. I know it sounds stupid and in most cases, it works.
Have you done right scroll, that applies to upper and lower part of available shortcuts. It should be there. But in case you're out of luck, use shortcutter app
It's a wonder what a night's sleep can do. I looked at the screenshot again with fresh eyes and am feeling really silly. "Portrait" is the option which is the other half of "auto rotate." I guess I was expecting the same icon and perhaps a more recognizable label.
I searched thoroughly and couldn't find a thread or a fix. Where do we edit the quick settings in the notification pulldown? Mine is blank, and I don't readily see it in Settings, nor is there an edit function in the pulldown. Suggestions?
You don't have the editing pencil icon on there?

Nah, it's straight blank...
Someone else here solved that by rebooting the phone. Afterward the pencil icon appeared and they were able to set it up. Can't remember which thread at this point.
I've rebooted twice. No success...
Pull down the notifications and then pull down again on the (blank for you currently) quicksettings section and you'll see pencil that lets you edit

Oddly enough, I was able to get the quick settings to show up on the lockscreen. I edited it from there, and voila. It's a wierd glitch...

Thanks for this. JUST picked up mine and was going crazy since I wasn't seeing the toggles. Very odd that it comes up blank like that out of the box.
Hey I found out the issue here. I had the same thing happen with the T-mobile variant. I did a factory reset and restored my google account and it was still missing. I did a second factory reset and didn't restore and sure enough it showed up. I then did the oneplus restore and nothing changed. I then got the phone unlocked and still no issue. After a restart everything was fine and then I did a google restore. I chose only to restore call logs and messages. The second it was done the quick settings disappeared again. This is clearly an issue with google and this device. Not sure if it's a T-Mobile issue specifically

Ah, thank you, that fixed it for me. Mine was looking just like yours. And when I locked the screen and then pulled down the notifications drawer, a pencil did appear which let me fix it all up.
I think I might know what broke it for me. When I upgraded my OnePlus 5 from OxygenOS 5.1.7 to 9.0.3, I still had jOnePlus Tools [adb/root] by JRoot3D.dev installed, and it was changing how many quick settings tiles are shown after one swipe down (in the single row). I think it was essentially doing this:
Code:
adb shell settings put secure sysui_qqs_count 8
When I used the app to change that number, all my quick settings tiles disappeared. The app has not been updated in a while, so I'm going to keep it off my phone until it's updated for Android Pie
Just as a quick update on this. This is still a problem on the T-Mobile device on 9.0.13 fully stock.
I guess this must then mean that the quick setting cannot be hidden on the lockscreen...

Actually, I think I found a better solution here.
The trick seems to be that on the unlocked version of the shade, the pencil and user switcher icons only show up when you expand the QS panel. However, if you don't have enough icons in the panel to force the need for the additional row (there is a little hint that shows up when you drag an icon that indicates that you need at least 6 icons), then you can't swipe it down, and there no icons or any warning of any sort are shown.
The shade on the lockscreen doesn't appear to enforce that icon minimum, so the pencil and user switcher show up fine (perhaps this is due to the fact that on the lockscreen, the notifications themselves don't live in the shade as they do when the device is unlocked).
It also seems like older OOS versions didn't enforce that icon minimum, so if you only had, say 4 icons (not sure who would do that), then did an upgrade, you would have this strange behavior.
On global version:
I know this is a known issue, but from playing around it looks like it is triggered by long pressing certain app icons in the home screens.
Holding down the clock widget briefly (until the trash icon appears at the top) will restore the status bar.
For example, if you have the status bar showing, long pressing the settings icon will do nothing, but long pressing Facebook or Instagram will make it go away. Long pressing Youtube does nothing, but long pressing the built in calculator app makes it go away. So the issue is not limited to 3rd party apps.
Hopefully someone smarter than me can apply some logic to this behavior.
?
Nice, I tried with a thrid party weather widget and the bar appears., and dissapear when I hold shazam for example.
Best regards.
I've just been force quitting Nubia launcher when that happens. Fixes it every time.

I asked to Nubia for a solution to this problem like 1 week ago, and they said me nothing about it.
Congrats man, seems you solved a problem! :good:
Regarding the icons when you install a new application, I have noticed that if you change the settings of the grid in the launcher, you find them, then you can remove them and when you add it, it will not tell you that it is already added, in case that it has happened to them
The software is total trash.
Someone with more experience. It is not about being smart. Its about the experience.
Just wanted to give a positivity boost

Indeed. I just flashed the official China Rom and apart from the bloatware, it's way better and everything works as it should.

Yes it lets you select English at the startup. The ringtone and notification tone menus are still Chinese though.
