couple questions before I root - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just bought this phone 2 days ago to replace my GS3 and I've been spending hours reading the forums and watching YouTube videos.
I had cm11 running on my Galaxy and I'm wanting to put it on my G2.
Rooting it looks easy enough and the IOroot will Be a breeze. Looking at recovery install it looks like there are 2 methods. Loki flash and Flashify app. Do you have to have the loki patch applied to use flashify and write the recovery? Or can you just flash it with root and be good to go?
My next question is the loki flash how to says twrp 2.6.3.2 and I need the 3.3 version for cm11. I read in a thread somewhere about the recoveries linked there being loki patched and using one not patched would bootloop the phone? Or can I download the twrp 2.6.3.3 and flash it via adb with the loki exploit instead? Some of the posts make it sound like twrp 2.6.3.2 is required for loki to work? And if so the best way to upgrade the recovery from there?
I'm not a newb to flashing been doing it for years just making sure I have a full understanding for this devices methods.
Edit: I use google chrome as my default phone browser and on xda the text in posts all compresses together and overlays sentences ontop of each other. Is there a way to fix?

No you do not have to just change recovery name from recovery.loki to recovery.img then flash with flashify

Thank you, I found a loki'd recovery file for 2.6.3.2 and a post with 2.6.3.4 with the loki patcher in the zip it looks like. I'm assuming once I flash the loki'd 2.6.3.2 recovery and then flash the 2.6.3.4 zip from twrp it should be working perfectly, I can nandroid and install cm11 just fine after that?

Yes sir i never had any problems so you should be good

Thanks for your help. Very much appreciated. Looking forward to having my custom rom install back. I love everything about this phone except for its locked bootloader and the lack of notification panel settings.I miss quick toggles and would rather not have my toggles with notifications

I get that too. Its so annoying. It only happens on chrome and only on stock based roms. Real shame I like chrome but a new browser does the job.

[Q] soft brick help

im kinda new to the whole rooting/rom thing, i rooted my s4 successfully, but when i went to install the rom i thought it was on my usb retardedly, so i wiped my phone, hooked up the usb, and it wasnt there. it said my phone was unrooted and asked me if i wanted to instal s2 to root it i hit yes, and now the phone wont boot up past samsung galaxy s4 home screen. i was using TWRP but it wont even open ... help me please im freakin out, prolly broke my phone i just bought it a week ago.
edit: okay so after trying like 15x twrp finally opened up. i put the backup i made onto my pc. do i just load it onto my usb, hook it up and go twrp > restore > usb-otg and restore it?
edit2: i go to restore but it shows nothing in my usb.
im freaking out again help please >.< do i need a file to install/where can i get it to get back to stock?
Download Odin and a rom in .tar format. Hold the volume down and power button to go into download mode. Then connect to usb and see the com port pop up, then select the pda tab and browse to the tar file. Then flash that. It will install stock firmware and recovery or rooted firmware and custom recovery based on what tar file you download.
If that sounds like too much to take in, and I suck at writing this kind of stuff up, do a YouTube search for sprint s4 unbrick/unroot and it should show all the steps.

Yea you should return to Stock Firmware. It should solve your issue.
Always, read and double check, even triple check before you mess with your phone. You should be alright if you follow previous post instructions.

Panicking wont help.jst do as the op said. Flashing ur way thru odin.
Before that do double check the version dat it support ur device.pay attention to this.n do calmly.
N the more u try more r d chances of getting thru the prob.
Do search for s4 backup n restore it.
Or repair via kies.

[Q] Bricked ...

Hi all. I have my phone rooted and TWRP installed. However, I wiped my system after installed TWRP. Fortunately I installed back a rom "Clean ROM" by ADB sideload but after that whenever I press "reboot system". It brings me back to TWRP bootloader. Anyone knows how to solve this problem? My phone is ATT LG G2. I will be thankful if someone save my phone!
Hopefully you can load the backup you took...supposing you used TWRP to follow file numero uno. Not being sarcastic but all these developments are new and potentially dangerous.

I am a newbie :crying: I was actually on stock rom and installed TWRP. However, I couldn't reboot back to system after I flashed an img file by flashify. I was stuck at TWRP bootloader. I thought there was something wrong so that I attempted to wipe data if I could go back to system. unfortunately I wiped SYSTEM and got stuck at TWRP. Therefore, I installed back a rom to my phone by adb sideload to see if I could have my phone back. And It turn back to the first problem I had. Cannot reboot to system again. I am wondering if it is a problem of TWRP or the rom that I installed. :crying:

Use LGtools to restore to stock
I bricked my bootloop many times and this tool will replace all files like the iPhone DFU mode does or like Odin on Samsung, there is a few steps involved so read and re-read.

hope it helps.
no need to kdz
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451696
everyone go and read development forum, lots of useful stuff
Also maybe you should get a download manager like FDM top assist with download speeds. And always MD5 them before flashing so things like this are less likly to happen.

[Q] TWRP vs CWM Recovery on VZW G2

Hey guys,
I currently am running Clean ROM on my Verizon G2, but saw that Team Gummy released a 4.4 ROM that I wanted to take for a spin. Anyway, in that OP it states that you can only flash that ROM from CWM and I currently have TWRP installed. So here is my question, is it possible to flash CWM from TWRP (like I used to on my GNEX) or do I need to remove TWRP and install CWM the way it's stated the in the development forum? Thanks!
**BUMP**
Can someone please chime in on this. I don't want to do something to brick my phone.
Yes, you can install cwm from twrp. Just find the version in a flashable zip format.
---------- Post added at 08:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:22 PM ----------
And after install reboot to recovery.
Or you can do it from flashify. You can switch back with it as well.

There is 4 methods to flash TWRP 2.7 -(as mentioned on official TWRP website)

3) via flashing Zip on existing recovery.
4) via Odin.

Did you manage to root your phone? Once you root it. Download Rom installer and on the left you can click on flash recovery and then flash the latest twrp. Then you download the Rom you want and download gapps too. And boot into recovery and wipe cache, dalvik cache and data. Then flash Rom and gapps. Then wipe dalvik and cache. Then reboot and enjoy the awesomeness of cm
