[Q] Google Now Swipe Up Action

Just got my nexus 7 and have been playing around with it and I have a question about google now. When I first started using it, if I did the swipe up from the home button action it would bring up the google now voice prompt. Now when I do the swipe up it just takes me to the google now cards, where I can say "Google" and get the voice prompt to start.
My question, what happened? Did I change a setting somewhere I forgot about or did the default swipe up action change when it upgraded to 4.2.1?
Google now goes right to search until you add a Google Account.
When you agree to use Google Now with a Google Account you get the card interface.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
With Google Now on I get the cards too. With Google Now off I get the basic google search bar with microphone and the keyboard is open. I put the Voice Search icon in the dock (Nova launcher) and just hit that to go straight into voice search. I honestly can't remember if it worked differently before.

[Q] Google now from navigation button doesn't automatically activate voice search

I had a good search on XDA before I posted my question and this is direct with just the Nexus 4, Anyway.
I'm running PA (March build don't remember date).
I've tried clearing app data, reinstalling, messing with app settings.
I can no longer open up Google Now to automatically begin voice search, when I slide up from the home button on the softkeys to go into Google Now it used to automatically use voice search however it no longer does this, it just stopped randomly yesterday but was working early yesterday, haven't flashed anything or modified anything since long before it stopped working =\.
So my question is, how do I get it to automatically begin a voice search?
By default, accessing Google Now by sliding up from the nav ring never automatically activated voice search for me.
I suppose if you want that function, you'll need to be able to customize the shortcut on the nav ring. This is possible on CM. Not sure if it can be done on PA. Just change the Google Now shortcut to launch the app Voice Search.

OK Google Hotword Detection Not Working

Hi there, I just got the OTA KitKat update and I can't seem to figure out why the OK Google hotword detection isn't working from the home screen. I read previous posts and made sure that the English language is installed, it is pre-installed for me and also that it was enabled. I tried both search widgets but neither of them has the text that says "Say OK Google to search" or whatever it says. Any ideas? :-\
Edit: Looks like resetting my system settings fixed it. When the phone booted back up it asked which launcher to use and gave me the option of the Google Now Launcher. All is well again.

Google Assistant (Non-Root) 6.0 android M

Recently, I enable Google Assistant for my non rooted Note5 device even though my location is in the Philippines. Here's how:
1. DOWNLOAD latest Google Apps BETA
2. DOWNLOAD latest Google Play Services BETA
3. DOWNLOAD any fake gps apps
4. DOWNLOAD any free VPN apps
Go to phone settings then apps manager then open Google Play Services, select storage then manage storage then clear data
Open freeVPN (mine is tunnel bear) then direct to USA
Open fake GPS (mine is flygps) then set your location to USA (i chose Los Angeles)
Again go to phone settings then apps manager then open Google Apps, select storage then manage storage then clear data.
After performing the above, long press your home button, then you will see Google Assistant which guide you to set.

I see, the only way I know to do this is yes you have to change modify the ROM.. you can try it I think it's not that hard if you follow the instructions..Just dont forget to make a Full backup in case something goes wrong.

How to enable google voice Assistant on any app , screen on miui 8 marshmallow
Go to settings/installed apps/ on the bottom you'll see an option defaults and more, click on defaults , on this screen on the bottom select voice and Assistant input , select assist app and select google app, and now register your voice on Google Assistant and you are set
I was trying all kinds of stuff and couldn't make it work. And you nailed it with this simple thing I did not know about. Thank you so much!
I'm glad it helped, I've been looking on all android forums and i was messing with the settings until i found the solution, btw sorry for my bad English
I did that with all my MIUI devices, but it doesn't fix the problem, that it's not working when not charging and/or device is screen-off.
If you are on marshmallow there is a module called Google Assistant for non nougat devices

My is MIX 2 Version 9.5 the newest one and have been trying all above and more but still does not work. It says initializing or Google voice search is not supported by your device, after clicking microphone icon on google keyboard. If I press microphone icon on Google Maps or others, it will pop up and google microphone and immediately close in less than a second.
