Downgrading. - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all, I'm on 98.30.1 (4.1.2) I was hoping there was a way to downgrade and unlock the bootloader. Looked through threads and didn't find anything conclusive.

If you looked through the threads, you didn't look hard enough. There's no way to downgrade.

Is there a downgrade discussion? It's really odd that downgrading is so difficult from 4.1.2 to 4.1.2. via SBF.

It's been discussed in just about every thread about the latest OTA and the previous one that locked the BL.

You were right, I should of done my homework. I understand now, and I'm not too thrilled. Guess I'm stuck on 4.1.2. or 4.1.2. based roms.

Bootloader unlocking

So I'm new to this forum, and I've done some reading and I'm a bit confused. I'm seeing some roms available making me believe that the bootloader has been unlocked and a method is out there on how to root and install a custom recovery. Can anyone help clear this up for me? Thanks!

the canadian variants are reported to come with unlocked bootloaders. the att i337 bootloader unlock hack will likely be released after the verizon sgs4 is released.

This forum is combined with other variants of the GS4. If you're using the AT&T Galaxy S4, your bootloader is locked and is going to be until Dan releases the hack.

Not sure what you're reading that would lead you to believe that. It works just fine. Did you even try it?

that's what I figured. confused myself with seeing bootlocker being locked and automatically assumed that meant not being able to root. haven't tried it yet, still on my s3 using your rom for the time being. my s4 is sitting here sun bathing tho

Plus I can't get into recovery mode which is usually a deal breaker.

1. There's an edit button you can use to modify posts instead of double, triple, quadruple posting.
2. You took the OTA therefor you can't flash anything due to the locked bootloader.

I gave you an affirmative answer. The bootloader is locked therefor you cannot flash a ROM OR even root because it won't let you. If there WAS a way then you wouldn't be asking.

Yes. If you're on MDL or lower then you're not on the latest. Latest is MF3.
Yeah I'm having the same problem. For some reason, on the phone that I replaced the one I bricked with, I'm on MDL but it doesn't find MF3 when I look for software update.

[Q] root for latest android 4.3 update?

I recently received the ota 4.3 update for my at&t gs4, but I've been dying to try cyanogen mod on my phone or at least be able to remove a little bloatware. Could anyone point me to a tutorial somewhere to root this thing if it's possible yet? I do have a little experience with flashing roms and rooting with my old samsung replenish, but only with odin... thanks.
-EDIT Also is kingo really malware like many people on xda say? And does kingo work with the new MJ9 build for AT&T's S4?
If you have a little experience flashing Roms than you'll be experienced in the art of Google search. There are many threads about this already
Use this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2531704
Works the same for att even though its for verizon. Same root method but beware it could add malicious stuff to your phone and computer. Do a little researching first before you do anything. Good luck

Thanks for the link to the tutorial. I've been looking stuff up about vroot and apparently it contains some sort of trojan... I also read a comment on YouTube where someone with the at&t MJ9 build had success with it but what are the risks other than bricking?

Well stuck for now .. There will be another root method but by the time it is found interest in this device may be gone. I went something like 9 months waiting for root the first go around.

Another root method could happen sure... But unlocking not likely at all.. The only reason we got the 2nd chance we did is because someone at moto "accidentally" used the old tz code that's vulnerable to Dan Rosenbergs exploit

I finally managed to get it worked out. One problem is that root checker was telling me I had no root even though I do. That lying skank! Now that I got that, I'm trying to deal with the VZW hotspot issue. The latest ota update seems to have made the problem more difficult. Thanks for advice, though!

Thanks,
I updated my guide HERE: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...bilized-process-to-unlock-bootloader-t3375527 to say N910VVRU2BPA1 but I think, at this time, it will work with any version. HOWEVER, Future OTA updates may block this exploit.
