Problems with ADB

So I'm not a novice ADB user and have used it to root at least 5 or 6 phones. I'm attempting to root my kindle fire right now and running into problems. I built a new PC since the summer and never bothered to reinstall ADB. I just downloaded the Google SDK and from my memory that includes ADB and you can usually get it going from there. I read some tutorials on how to set it up but after following them perfectly I can't get it to even start the ADB server. Anytime I type any ADB commands in it says adb.exe not found or it not being a valid command.
Any quick advice?

Download Kindle Fire Utility...

It has a batch file that will install the necessary ADB drivers and you'll find the fastboot/adb executables in the tools directory.

That's what I thought was weird. I ran the drivers.bat, it says they're all installed and I still can't start the adb server or communicate with it. And the kindle shows up as it's supposed to when the adb drivers are installed under devices.

That's a new one to me. I think the adb server should be able to start even without the device attached. Maybe your original SDK install went wrong and it did something funny to your system? Sorry... I got nothing.

Don't want to sound too simple, but have you changed to the directory that adb.exe is installed in before trying to run it?

Yeah I changed the directory. I got it up and running kind of but now when I try the adb devices command it pops up as "connected devices" with nothing showing under it. The kindle fire utility also shows the adb server as not running always. Odd?

This happened to me its supposed to show up as Android composite adb interface its just a problem in that .android hidden file

Thanks I appreciate the help. Once I get home I'll try this and report back on how it works. I'm glad someone else experienced the same problem a d got around it.

The youtube video did it for me. I appreciate the time taken to help point me in the right direction.

1. Download the rooting script from link below. it works on windows only.

2. Connect your phone to the
PC with USB Debugging
Enabled. To enable USB
Debugging, Go to
Setting>Applications>
Development and ensure that

3. Execute the file “run.bat”
4. Your phone will reboot on

I did it before and did it again and again on two computers the problem is the message " permission denied " always come up and the phone reboot but nothing change .. I need a solution for it .. see this screen shot

it comes only when you havent enabled install from unknown sources.
goto settings>applications then tick the first option. it will be done then.

are you running on gingerbread?
if yes then use superoneclick root. it works on all gingerbread roms and also on your e400.

You used version 1.7? and not the latest 2.3.3, because the latest does not work only 1.7 in rageagainstthecage mode, also make sure your anti virus is odd/disabled

I used 1.7 .. and the same problem

Are you using window 7? maybe try run the program as admin or maybe mess with the compatibility mode. Also you should be using the usb port at the back of your computer not front panel, well thats if your on a desktop. Maybe different usb port

How is it not working? When you plug it in (using stock cable I assume) does your phone say it is connected as a media device? If so you might have to click that and change to camera mode. The mac utility only work on one of those modes if I remember correctly.

Yeah ive tried that. and when i click camera mode, android file transfer says "no device found" and when its in media mode android file transfer starts and says, "cannot connect to device" and the phone isn't locked or anything and its getting me frustrated

Try an app called Airdroid.

And if you go to Kies on mac using the tools menu you should redownload the drivers. Then reboot mac and phone and try again.

[ROOT] Amazon Fire TV 2 (Updated)

This is an updated thread for rooting the Amazon Fire TV 2. A simpler preloader rooting procedure was developed and has been tested by a number of users, but the guides were not updated until now. We have decided to publish the guides on the wiki section of the repo website since it allows other primary contributors to edit the guides as well so we can share the work (currently just @ImCoKeMaN). I have also uploaded the associated zip files to this thread as sort of a mirror. The above guide provides support for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. As of right now the procedure supports 5.0.3.1 and 5.0.4, but a unique zip file is required for each version. It does check the version when starting the root procedure so you'll have a chance to grab the correct one just in case. The original scripts are all located and will continue to be maintained in the git repo located here:

Where can I check to find out which mediatek vcom driver I should get? You say based on your model. Where do i check that?
I see my model but where do I cross reference my model to a particular mediatek driver?

Once I've rooted, will the root access persist through subsequent automatic system updates?

I tried the ubuntu way and it is stuck on waiting for preloader... I am using a USB transfer cable, ubuntu 15.10, vmware 12 pro, and I have no luck getting past running the initial python script.

No. Applying OTAs after rooting is extremely dangerous. I'm working on recovery and prerooted update packages to allow safe updates.

Worked fine for me using Windows 8.1 64 bit, Fire OS - 5.0.3.1.
Fire TV 2 is now rooted. Thanks Zeroepoch

It seems for me that the computer is not recognizing the fire TV correctly over the USB cable. I am wondering if USB A to A is different from a USB transfer cable. It sees my device as a combo drive.

OOPS! My Fire TV 2 is rebooting randomly after root. I have had 3 reboots in the space of half-hour. Please, wow do I fix this? Thanks.

Yes there is a difference you need just an a to a cable with no box or chips in it that is your issue.

You can use the driver from the driver folder in the zip. The other link was just for the install instructions. They are both going to work but the dl process was somewhat shady from that instruction site link so @zeroepoch included it in the zip.

There are three drivers in there. Install all of them?

no just need the x64 for most cases actually.

Try disabling your Antivirus. Mine was preventing the script from getting past that step.

Thanks for this! Got my AFTV2 rooted using these updated tools, its very automated now! Great work guys.
I originally rooted 5.0.3.1 using ubuntu VM in the video guide, I updated to 5.0.4 and re-rooted with the updated tools in the same VM and it worked a treat, very simple. Literally one cmd in the bash shell.

I am using linux mint, i updated to 5.0.4 OTA, i tried the directions given, but getting an error: serial protocol mismatched.
Waiting for preloader...
Found port = /dev/ttyACM0
Handshake complete!
Extracting build.prop...
ERROR: Serial protocol mismatch

@zeroepoch my guess is the IO controller or the MediaTek device itself has extremely slow transfer speed. Hence why it takes 2 hours to write the addresses?
Edit: I finally got the right cable and I am in the process of writing the addresses from the image files. One of the addresses that is being written to it is hanging for a long time... Could it be that the transfer got interrupted... The prompt blinks at one address now for about 10 minutes?
So I read the readme and I think I have to rerun the batch file when it gets stuck.
EDIT 2: killed the process and it's running fine again after restarting.

That sounds like a flaky USB connection. It does a check in places where it echos back the data and its saying it mismatched.

Now to figure out what I want to do with root...

CSC Wisebook W803T driver package for Windows 10

Hi,
I recently reinstalled Windows 10 on a CSC Wisebook W803T (cheap tablet from Thailand) and ran into severe problems installing drivers as many of them can't be found on the net anymore. Windows Update didn't help because it loaded an I2C driver which was too new, so devices like touchscreen, rotation sensor, sound chip, GPS etc. couldn't even get detected by Windows.
With the help of another tablet owner I collected all the drivers (latest working version) necessary for the device to run properly. You can install the package with the program Double Driver, available for download here: http://boozet.org/dd.htm

You cannot extract the file with another program, use Double Driver: http://boozet.org/dd.htm

The driver is in the ZIP package. Just open the ZIP with Double Driver!

my question is .. after downloading the driver pack and the DD software is this being done on the tablet itself ?
and is it only just choose restore on the DD to restore all the drivers ?

Yes, you do this on the tablet. Just plug a mouse in with an adapter and use the on-screen-keyboard. Then you just have to restore everything from the driver package.

but once the tablet ask me to restart everything disappears

To be honest, I don't know how to fix this problem and I forgot the Windows version (the tablet isn't mine), I'm sorry!

Is there any way to flash this tablet. I'm stuck with "Please insert the external storage media and press OK" after trying to flash it with windows 10 using its memorycard as bootable windows 10

now u can install any version of windows if its 32 bits I found its another source of driver,
W803T.rar
drive.google.com
this is directly by the thai company CSC and I've tested these drivers on Windows 10 X86 20H2
it works like a charm so now u can make use of this google drive link
