Hi, I switched from Iphone to Lg G2 a week ago because i needed a larger screen, but at my age, it's just too much of a learning curve + my emails are 15 minutes late and I've been reading all about that too.
Anyway I have decided to go back to unrooted and I have studied and studied the "VERIZON ONLY Revert to stock GUIDE [UPDATED]" and downloaded the files to my Windows 7.
I am just scared to proceed without making sure I understand the procedure because I have been reading the complete post.
Any advice before i start?

Well wife got OTA on her phone and selected update.
Thanks to reading and following the instructions I was able to:
FIRST
My wife's phone was HW locked. Knowing this OTA could soft bricked I followed the instructions and flashed the fix a week or two ago.
TODAY
Bingo she got the OTA and bricked (just Mobile AP and Root she had). I found the instructions and BAM!! back to stock.
Now she runs fusion - lol
Again - thanks all for the time you put in to help others. I was able to find and read all material necessary to fix my problems. Thanks

What instructions did you follow to unbrick the phone? I'm having the same issue.
I hear you. I soft-bricked my phone with the OTA and T-Mo was useless, as expected, wanting me to send my phone in and pay for shipping. It took me in total about 30 minutes including download time to get the stock, and OTA files, to flash through with odin and bam my phone was up and running and everthing has been great since.
Keep up the good work.
how?
How did you get back to stock. im bricked right now aswell and all i get is the vibrant screen. but i can still access recovery and access clockwork recovery.

I'm glad we could help your wife brick her phone? I guess? lol
..
glad all you got her back up and running again though

FYI -
If you plan to flash ANYTHING and the thread is 100+ pages - guess what - READ the 100+ pages. Better you take 1 hour of your time top read 100+ pages than hard brick your phone.
Is it even possible to soft brick this phone? It seems no matter what you do its fixable.

Hi.
I've just bought an Xperia X10i, which was a T-Mobile handset and had firmware version R1FA014. I took to the net as soon as I got it home with the aim of debranding it, and followed this guide - forums.se-nse.net/topic/49076-sony-ericsson-xperia-x10-debranding-tutorial/? to step 5.
So I ran the "repair" option which went fine, but when that had completed and I tried steps 6 to 13, the first problem I encountered was the files in my db folder were totally different to the screen shot in the guide. I put them in size order anyway and renamed the two files and copied and replaced them, and tried running the update again, but it came up with an error about my internet connection (even though it was fine), so wouldn't run again.
Having checked the phone I noticed it had updated to firmware version R2BA023, so thought the debranding had been successful, until I was laid in bed setting the alarm to discover I still had T-Mobile tones and a T-Mobile homepage.
So after googling tonight, I've discovered "rooting", if someone could please explain what that actually is it would be much appreciated, as googling only leads me to guides on how to do it, but not what it actually is, and I have a couple of questions I hope someone can answer for me about the guide in this thread...
1. Are the files in the first post all I require or are there newer ones I should download?
2. I have downloaded SEUS, but I deleted the db folder for SEPCC whilst attempting to get the the steps in the first guide to work, should I uninstall and reinstall SEPPC before attempting the steps in this guide?
3. Is the "market fix" actually required after following this guide?
4. Some people have mentioned they have had issues trying the steps in this guide, is that mainly due to user error or is there a chance that it doesn't always work the first time?
I apologise for the long post, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

...and thought I would mark my thousandth post to show what a newb I was when I first joined. I still learn new stuff pretty much everyday just by coming and reading threads posted here and other sections of XDA, although the X10 boards is where I spend most of my time.
So thanks to all that have, and continue to contribute to XDA.

Smart man lol
I got my I5800 today, and knew about 2.2 and wanted to upgrade. I followed the guide, downloaded odin, ops files, all that. The process seemed to go well, it rebooted and then stayed at the "Samsung" screen and I waited over 20 minutes and nothing..
Now my phone doesn't work.. Doesn't go past the SAMSUNG screen...
Someone please help, I'm at noob with androids :/
Edit: Reverted back to the firmware version I wrote down that it had, and tried again and it worked
You don't need to start a new thread to report this...
Read This at first:
RTFM
Later you RTFM, you just can use the "Search" tool to find solutions...
If you don't do this, you are not able to flash/restore or do anything in advance. You just need to be a simple user...
Its like to buying a new TV or Microwave oven, at first you RTFM to power on later...
Please, just read!
I decided to go ahead with the TW firmware upgrade. Everything seemed to be going fine until I tried to install it and it told me there was an error and I needed to hook it up to Kies first. I had already been using Kies with it on my Macbook for a couple weeks now so I went ahead and plugged it in. Kies recognized it as usual and all the information came up.
So I went on and tried to install again and it said it needed to reboot.
It reboots and comes to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 screen like normal (right before it starts the galaxy animation). Next thing I know it comes to a screen that looks like the attached images! I immediately unplugged it from Kies and shut it down. Every time I start it back up it does the same thing. I honestly have NO idea what to do. I can't even return it as it's past the 14 day period and I (stupidly) didn't buy Staples' bogus $160 insurance.
I was not rooted before. This was a stock tab that I bought at staples. It had the firmware 4.24 when I bought it, I think.
Please, any help is appreciated. I tried doing firmware recovery in Kies but the pop up comes up in Korean and I have no idea what it says...
Edit: More info. I'm not the only one with this problem. Two other people have posted on AndroidPolice about this. http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/08/04/samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1-wifi-touchwiz-ux-update-is-now-live/
The software is definitely running underneath all that mess but it's literally impossible to see what is going or to touch anything.
I guess this thread is about the same issue

So I need to follow all the steps for rooting except the last one which is the actual rooting? Great thanx! Do I need to use Kies? My current computer is Mac but I guess I need to download those things to a Windows machine to make it work, right?
Thank you very much
I had the same problem. I upgraded the update on my non-rooted tablet and got the funked up video mess. Per instructions from Samsung support, I hard booted to the recovery menu (power+vol down, then power up, down on download screen) and did the factory wipe. After that I ended up with the black screen. I could tell things were working in the back but couldnt see a thing. I figured I would throw it on the Kies and it saw that there was a factory upgrade so I let the Kies run through it and it works fine now.
Dont know if this will help w/other but it worked for me.
Hello everyone,
I have been on this site for sometime, always reading and waiting to be able to take the plunge into all the fun.
I am a Bell subscriber, and have enjoyed my phone till this point, but now I would like to be able to get everything back to normal.
A couple months back, I messed up my Atrix and decided to flash the following sbf file onto it, 4.2.11.MB860.Retail.en.FR.
It has been running good since then.
Now I want to be able to get back to the Bell software and be able to take the OTA updates, and have my car dock working again.
I have read until I am blue in the face, and there is so much jumping around from thread to thread, I am really lost when it comes to start this.
My phone is currently rooted using Gingerbreak 1.20, I have backed up everything, and am willing to do anything to this phone to accomplish this. I am not to worried about it, as I have purchased the extended warranty on it, so I hope I am covered.
My questions are:
Do I need to unlock my phone to proceed to the next step?
if so, I use ihop-bell?
I install CWM, I currently use the one with Rom-Manager
I download the Bell 2.2.2. Gobstopper? Install it?
I have the current version of RSD lite installed on my computer
then I ????? this is where I get lost again.
I know some of you are saying read the steps posted, but it seems they all lead to different pages and I kinda got lost in the process. Would someone point me to a step-by-step that could help me please?
Sorry for inconveniencing any of you, but it is greatly appreciated
Thank you
Fred
