I had my galaxy 4 updated at store and it's new at NA7 instead of NAE. Is there a safe root and a hot spot mod fit this?

If you did have the NAE and "updated" to NA7 then your phone was downgrade at the store see the legend for more clarification thanks @Omar04

Just checked my info and yes. NAE is dated Jan 28th. You must've been given an internal test build.

My advice is yes. Considering NA7 wasn't public, for our device, and that we know you can't go backwards from NAE, I would go forward manually.
Keep in mind that, as we've seen with other test builds, that the phone won't take an OTA from an unofficial release.
So it's either you do it or go back to the store and point out that they obviously flashed your phone to something that the tech shouldn't have done.
Does anyone have the full flashable NAE software yet? Sure do need it

The full NAE tar file is now available for download, goto the android development section and look for the thread from Random45. He has the fastest download mirror.
Thanks I downloaded and flashed and now at NAE and was able to get everything working.

Yes you can root it, use cf-autoroot and then install a custom recovery so you can install the kernel you want to use.

For you to get the new update, you atleast need to be on stock rooted with no mods whats so ever and have stock recovery. And you can get update but if you have custom recovery its aborts it

What version is your phone currently running? If you just got the phone it could already be running on 4.3 but most likely on 4.2.2. Give the info on your current status and we can work from there.

I just realized that you aren't a Verizon customer. The update is only available for Verizon phones at this time. Give it another couple of weeks and your phone will be getting the update.... Sorry brotha.

Also, you'll have better luck (in general) if you post in your actual phone's forum. This is for the Galaxy S 4G, not for the Galaxy S4. It's a ~3 year old phone.
The Galaxy S4 has not only a general forum but also specific phone model forums. Depending on how specific your questions are, you may have better luck on one side or the other.

Ok so I just got the s4 saturday I rooted monday and have been searching for a way to unroot / go back to stock 4.4.2/ L720tvpubnc6
I have been searching and searching the last 3 days , from google, qbking77 on here and so and all I can find is the unroot method for 4.2.2 ... any ideas where I can find 4.4.2. L720tvpubnc6 file ?

Thanks , im kinda new to this whole rar thing I just root to get rid of bloatware and stay stock , no kernels or anything like that ... I know zips and apks ... no idea on rar ..lol.. thanks for the link though
