Hi,
I have a question.
My phone Note 3 AP: N9005XXUBMJ3
CP: N9005XXUBMJ2
CSC: N9005OXXBMJ3
So I rooted using Kingo, then applied the RegionLock Away, but the phone is still region locked.
Now I have a SIM from the region where the phone is, but no roaming.
My question is, is there a way to speak the 5 minutes on that sim without the roaming or money on it for that matter?
Or at least make it believe that I did it?
Just wild guessing.
Thx.

No roaming with an original-country SIM? That is strange.
What does this program say that the CSC currently is?

No roaming on the original country sim isn't that strange, some operators don't allow roaming unless you specifically request it.

I assumed that one was checked - meaning that the SIM roams in another phone it is OK. If it does not I do not see why he mentions it here.

My CSC is ROM (Romania).
I mentioned that is not activated, the roaming, because, if I had it, I could speak the 5 mins and the phone would be region unlocked.
PS Not any closer to a solution.

I am probably missing something - the roaming is not activated on the SIM or does not work on the phone? (or in other words - does the SIM work in another phone?)
If the SIM can not roam it is of no help, and even if it can you might STILL see unpleasant surprises (reported by plenty of users around - having problems even after doing the 5 minutes thing).
Have you tried posting in the the RegionLockAway thread so that Chainfire could have a chance to see what is wrong? MJ3 is clearly listed there are working so there might be only something minor that is missing, and Chainfire could be the guy that understands what is that thing missing.
I am not even asking if you have checked that the root is indeed working (with a root-checker or similar)
The alternative is to write directly to Samsung (mentioning your original warranty card and so on) and ask for a region-unlock code - I believe 2-3 users have reported success on that (after 2-4 weeks usually).

Could you clarify on how to write to Samsung?
I thought about writing on the thread, but Chainfire is very busy and seldomly answers, especially on that thread lately.

I did replaced my region locked ROMania with BTU UK (supposedly region free) and the phone was still region locked. Only after updating the modem to an earlier version (from MJ3 to MJ1) was I able to use the regionlock away tool.
If I m not mistaken using region lock away tool means knox 0x1

Dear All, the question is very simple.
1. Does the region lock go away if a European region lock Firmware (unlocked cellular network N9005) is replaced with Singapore (no region lock) firmware.
2. Since MCC of sim is linked to CSC code which is also linked to the Product code which in turn links the modem software which embeds the black listed networks. we need clarity on it. if the Product code is the culprit then can we change the product code of European model to unlocked region product lets say singapore and then install the singapore firmware. will this remove the region lock.
3. Has any one tried the above two and got any answers. Developers please intervene.
Thanks in Advance..

1. If the firmware is equal, not less, and you are willing to take a small risk, but first do some research if this will not brick your phone, try it yourself. I would say no, but unless it is dangerous give it a try.
2. Too long for me, also too complex. Try it with the vets.
3. This is a thread started by me, so it is unlikely it has a great coverage. Try writing in some of the big threads or create a new one.
PS I will do anything I can to help, but all the info is in this post written also by me http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50818287&postcount=566

What AP/CP/CSC? (output from *#1234#) What region was the phone bought from and what SIM are we talking here? What channel do you have your WiFi on?
(and for the moment don't do anything that might void your warranty - like writing stuff with Odin - it might be a bug and it might be covered by your warranty).

Sorry, I have no first-hand experience on that kind of configuration - I think N9005OLBDMK1 is supposed to be Singapore (which was supposed to come region-unlocked) and so is XSP (I believe Singapore unbranded).
My initial feeling was that you were seeing something related to region-locking or related to different WiFi channels between regions (some WiFi channels are present in US but not in the rest of the world).
WHAT AP/CP/CSC DO YOUR FRIENDS HAVE?
Since your knox flag is already 0x1 then I believe you can try some other regional or related MJ7 firmware (I do not think you can easily write pre-MJ7 firmware) - I believe the unbranded Spanish (EU) version is this one:
http://samsung-updates.com/details/15753/Galaxy_Note_3_Snapdragon/SM-N9005/PHE/N9005XXUDMJ7.html
but regarding WiFi and 3G/4G bands it might be possible that some other ROM from your region might be better/closer (even some from US/Canada, but I would test those as last resort).
Maybe an even easier thing (given Knox 0x1) is to test with the latest Omega ROM (but be careful when you install it - install first a CWM and from there install Omega on a path where you first save the existing EFS first).
Please let the forum know if you learn more about the subject.
I tried flashing with PHE region and nothing all is the same, another information are when i put an O2 uk SIM all work great, i think to flash with same version of CHO (chile) it is correct??
Y try with CHO-N9005VJUDMJ7 , ITV-N9005XXUDMJ7 , PHN-N9005XXUDMJ7 and nothing, Wifi work with no sim, and with O2 SIM or other but not with cubacel , some body suggest me another original firmware closely to cuba region to flash ?? maybe USA or canada ?
i talk with samsung support, and its a very basic support. Anybody can helpe with this problem please?? The N9005 with cubacel sim don't work the wifi, but with other carrier sim like O2, the wifi work perfectly.

I've Boughten an unlocked Galaxy Note 3 SM-9005 on ebay. To use for straight talk in the United States. The first sim card i had in it was a normal sized sim card that i had cut (instead of micro) And after fiddling this sim card had worked from 4-5 days. Then i started to get the error message "No service" and "Not registered on Network" I had figured the sim was probably the reason to why i was not being allowed to call or message. So i bought another brand new micro sim card. And then put that in (Again with straight talk) and i am still unable to call or message. I have checked my imei number and it is the same as the one on the back of the phone. I have tried to re-register on the network within the settings on the phone. With no luck whatsoever. I have noticed that the CSC is not correct for the united states. And in hopes of fixing it i rooted and installed a custom rom. (IMEI is still the same)
If someone could please help...I am Stumped[/FONT]

Given the details that you have provided so far the most likely scenarios that I see are:
1) there is a mechanical problem on the SIM contact
2) the seller was on some form of a contract and has reported the phone stolen, so the IMEI is now blocked on some or all carriers.
DO NOT MINGLE WITH THE FIRMWARE at this point (and also disable any automatic updates of the firmware).
Also if you want further technical info (and not just guesswork) you should post the output from *#1234#

It really does depend on the issues xclub has brought up.
If it was me, I'd rule out SIM issue (the card itself) due to having a replacement, although it could be an issue with the SIM Tray.
And if it is used, then yes it is possible that it has been blocked by the original owner.
EDIT : Do you guys in the US have an IMEI checker for blocked IMEI's etc? in Europe we do it's called CHECK MEND.. Might be worth having a look or alternatively give your network a ring, they'll know for sure.

Ok so you have the same firmware as me, I am using BTU which is UK (I am UK) - So your CSC does indeed need changed to match you for US use - -- Firstly does your network support the available frequency required? (do you have LTE?) - If so you can change you CSC to your required region But another factor --- are you aware of region lock? has it been disabled that you know of? - this could cause some issues if it hasn't been deactivated - I'm not sure when changing CSC/firmware if it reactivates region locking or not
EDIT: I think only T-Mobile supports the N9005 in the US ( I could be wrong) --- Need a US user to chime in here I think to be 100% sure!!
Going with an Unknown carrier on CSC/FW- May not solve it

That looks like EU version. Since somewhere else you mentioned that you rooted then the next thing to try is Region Lock Away:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470551
since the phone might now be "hit" by the EU region lock (an even simpler test would be to insert an EU SIM just to see if it registers on some network for roaming). If RegionLockAway fixes things you can then see what version of firmware you want in order to get LTE from your carrier.
If you want to sell the phone - being rooted might even be a plus, but having Knox 0x1 is certainly a major minus.
I did get region unlock and it did not work. And when i try to install the unknown firmware i am unable to flash it with odin i get all sorts of errors (I tried two of the unknowns) BTW thanks for the help

I saw many people around the EU are flashing this but does carrier - region locked function have an influence here?
I understand region locked is only about preventing other SIM cards to be inserted and there should not be a problem but you know, i would like to know for sure. Is any one here who has done that and can confirm it works?
Thanx
Your region lock will gi away if you do 5mins of calla in your hime country.

It might be very relevant if you are carrier-locked (in which case I strongly advise against) or just region-locked - and even if you are not carrier-locked I would not suggest JUST YET to jump on N9005XXUENA6 Polish (XEO) version - the thing is that your current CSC might be something that is not supported by the multi-CSC in the XEO version and things might not always go well in such conditions. That is why I am a little concerned about going to the XEO version myself - even if now there is a confirmed way to keep root and knox 0x0.

It'll be region locked if it's a European model by the sounds of it, try region lock away and see if that works, failing that, a Custom ROM usually fixes it also.
So its posssible for me to install Custom Roms e.g. Omega Rom on a Pink Note 3 that was already unlocked? I'm using an Asian SIM and when I bought the pink note 3 for my wife, the phone was for EU SIM. I checked the phone status on download mode, knox has been tripped, binary status to modified/custom etc etc. Looks like the phone was rooted to have region lock away installed and then unrooted. Planning on install Omega Rom but wanted to make sure the phone will still read the Asian SIM.

I've already did that. I installed region lock away, and region unlocked it. What custom ROM do you think I have to install? Do you have any trusted source so I can get a custom ROM from them?
Check the Android dev section, there's a few decent ROMs in there. - I have pretty much used them all on 4.3 and tried all now on 4.4
EDIT: X-Note is regionfree as is Omega, both are very popular, however SweetROM and AndroidNOW now can certainly hold their own and are just as good (also region free)

If i have Orange (UK carrier) region locked Note 3 model: SM-N9005, can i flash Poland update [N9005XXUENA6]?
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=24151
I saw many people around the EU are flashing this but does carrier - region locked function have an influence here?
I understand region locked is only about preventing other SIM cards to be inserted and there should not be a problem but you know, i would like to know for sure. Is any one here who has done that and can confirm it works?
Thanx

Hi guys,
I am new to Samsung but like many I was tempted by the Note 4. I bought my Note 4 in Dubai (unlocked and not tied to any provider) but when I tried using it in the UK with a UK SIM (EE) I am not able to make/receive calls when set on LTE/WCDMA/GSM but I can when I select GSM Only. Samsung UK is not interested, Samsung Dubai poit me towards Samsung Egypt (because apparently this is an Egypt region phone) and Samsung Egypt do not understand what my problem is and keep sending my region unblock codes when the phone is not region locked.
Has anyone had this before and if yes what did you do to fix this?

I have been reading a lot about rooting and flashing ROMs but being new to this I am not confident enough to get into all that. I hope there is a solution without the need for rooting !!!

SIM works on my HTC One and 4G signal here good so I do not think it is the SIM. I updated firmware two days ago using Kies but no change. I am starting to suspect some sort of network blacklisting by Samsung but not sure. I also spoke to my network provider and problem not with them.
I want to test the phone in Middle East first to make sure that it is not some hardware fault bit if not my only option may be rooting and flashing different ROMs. I am also hoping that Lollipop may solve it but no way to get it now as I am not rooted yet.

This are the mine screen shot for dubai rom, u can compare.
Thanks for the screenshots. I compared with yours and it is now even more clear that mine is an Egypt phone. Do you know if I can flash the UAE firmware on my phone with or without rooting and if that would work so that the CP, SP and CSC are the same as yours rather than the Egypt ones?

my friends have this similar problem and its fix
This is how "you need a working sim from the country when you buy the samsung phone"
all you have to do is make a international call for 15 minutes to the original country
example u bought the phone in egypt so u need a working egypt simcard just call the operator in egypt and listen to the operator for 15 minuts from UK after 15 minutes (make it 20 minutes just in case) turn off your phone and change it with the UK sim card
this method works for me
u dont need to flash or root the phone
just remember this method only work with samsung unlock phones from middle east

You won't need to downgrade/upgrade your modem manually. It'll happen automatically when you upgrade the firmware.
Since Spain (Vodafone) hasn't released the 5.0.1 update for the GT-I9506 yet, you should flash another one.
Theoretically, any region's firmware should work.
Go to Sammobile.com/firmwares and type GT-I9506.
Flash any firmware that isn't associated with a carrier.
From what I can see, Nordic Countries, Slovakia and Greece have unbranded I9506 firmwares.
Keep in mind, if your phone is ever sent for warranty, they might not accept it because the CSC will change.
So this is entirely up to you.

All the firmwares are identical, only difference is the origin country and obviously the CSC.
Since the firmwares are identical, they're all stable and SamMobile doesn't upload unstable ROMs, all the ROMs on are fully developed and are completely stable.

CSC stands for Customer Sales Code
CSC varies depending on who sold the phone to you, was it through a carrier or was it from a retail store?
For example, the CSC for Italy is ITV and XEF for France.
The CSC for Spain is PHE, but that's if you bought your phone from a retail store.
However, since your phone is from a carrier (your first post shows ATL as your CSC)
ATL is also the CSC for Spain but ATL is for Vodafone.
Suppose your phone gets damaged and needs to be sent in for warranty to get repaired/replaced.
The guy at the service center will check the phone and if the CSC is different from ATL, he will refuse to take your phone as it has technically been tampered with, in the sense that the original ROM has been removed and you have flashed the ROM of another country on your phone. There is nothing wrong with having the ROM for another country, but the service center people don't accept your phone unless it has the original CSC, which in your case is ATL.
BUT, if your phone ever does go for repair etc, do change the CSC before sending it.
You can use this guide to change your CSC.
It's fairly easy and you should be done quickly.
Enjoy flashing a new ROM on your phone and enjoy the 5.0.1 experience on that amazing Snapdragon-800 processor.

Of course there is.
Google change your CSC and a big XDA thread should come up in the Galaxy Grand section. That has a full tutorial in it, however before you do that.
Is the ATL CSC still installed on your phone even after flashing the firmware of a different country?
Check by dialing *#1234# in the dialer and post the stuff written in the CSC field here.

Dear Murtaza,
I hope you don't mind I am sending you a private message regarding my brother's phone.
He purchased it new. The Phone was operator blocked.
The store did something to the phone to allow him using the local telecom sim card.
Since my brother was not able to upgrade to new os versions. He gets the notifications but a soon as he executes the upgrade process on the air, an error shows up saying that the phone has been modified.
I have attached all the phone information collected using PHONE INFO.
Kindly, let me know whether I Can use the same Rom NEE to upgrade his phone and if safe doing it.
Is there anything else to do to correct the manual upgrade process?
Many thanks my friend

His phone is an I9505, so the process is exactly the same.
Just replace the I9506 firmware with the I9505 firmware the tutorial and you're all set. However, since device status is modified, after flashing the firmware through Odin, you should do a Factory Reset.
You can use any regions ROM as long as it's unbranded. The manual update process is exactly the same as it is on your phone.
Once you've downloaded the 5.0.1 firmware, flash it and let me know how its worked out for you.
