Hi to everyone,
I'd like to buy this device, now it's street priced at 500 euro but before I do that, I would like know if there's any way to get it into the Android platform.
As far as I read nobody speaked about that and for that I opened this thread.
What do you know about?
Cheers,
If you are thinking of trying Android like what have been tried on other devices (i.e. via SD card loading) there lies the first essential problem. There is no SD card on mobile side. Crack this and you probably can start on the Android issue.

Hi. I use a translator from Russian into English so that not worry.
I did so.
Download the Android x86 with http://android-x86.googlecode.com/files/eeepc-20090820.iso.
Install an image through unetbootion on USB stick. Start. Start the installation on the hard disk. Formatted for ext2. Rebooted. Yes, with the appearance of the boot to choose the first row, press the "e" (for her editing) and another "e". Append the following line to vga = 788. Press Enter. Then click "b" to boot. When you boot, you will need to press the button and select the video mode, I chose 8. And voila.
Camera works. Better than eeepc900. (It also tried to) the rest did not try it, they say you can start the WIFI, but I'm not good at Linux.
Maybe someone will try harder to establish all the drivers?
nice finding! but everyone is still wanting to replace windows mobile with android or other linux.

This seems to be an installation on the PC side of the Shift. I think the poster knows how to install full linux on the PC side. He is interested in Android on the snapvue side.

It would be great. I saw somewhere on the internet post installation Androida place for WM. If turn out otpishus. While hardly on the side of wm memory only 50 mb (if I'm not mistaken) and for Androida need more.
Yep and we don`t even have bootable kernel yet, unless Neutron83 has founded out something, as he was working with this. There is another topic about this..
Hey guys,
first, im sorry for opening a new thread, but none of the other threads helped me.
I bought a HTC Touch 3G Clone in China:
ROM: 2.706.2
QUALCOMM 7225
528 Mhz
RAM: 192MB
NEXPERIA SY.SOL 5209
Windows 6.5 Chinese
HardSLP doesn't work. It cant get a connection to the phone, although ActiveSync has one.
Then i tried to upgrade with my 1gb sd-card. But none of the button-combinations of this forum work.
I tried some other comb. and found three of them:
green button + red button + power --> reset config
vol up + vol down + power --> calibration screen
vol up + red button + power --> a white screen with "downloading"-label
vol down + red button + power --> a green/white screen saying: Checking valid image file
I think the last one is important to install a new rom. After 10 seconds it says:
Step 3 error while updating
Card operate: read retry timeout
Then i tried several rom-versions posted here. Nothing happens.
I just want an english operating system...
I really hope someone can help me. Its driving me crazy...
Thank you for your help.
Buddy close this thread & go 2 Touch 3G General -where u have posted ur thread- & read other threads, many can help.
HSPL does not work 4 cloams!! & also u can't use those custom ROMs on cloam!
check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=580367&page=3 but make the "hxxp" correct!
Also http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=657212 links.
Search more, u will find stuff. If u follow the General forum related 2 cloams (clones) u will get more! U shall use a ROM working 4 cloam. Mine is T3238+, I'll try 2 help as far as my knowledge lets me!
Thank you for your help.
Sure, I can post my problem there. But I already read them and it didnt help. I tried both of the ROM-files. I get the same error:
Step 3 error while updating
Card operate: read retry timeout
I have a 1GB sd-card, formated in standart windows-fat-format.
I think there must be another button-combination for the update mode.
But like i said none of the combinations mentioned in the board work, and there are plenty of them...
In your second link I have seen:
3) Boot into TF Update Mode by holding the Green + Confirm + Red + Power Button
I tried it, nothing happens (if the confirm button ist the round big one in the middle)... What should I do?
Hi again,
Yes, confirm = big button; only use the ROMs 4 cloam phones not those 4 real 1s.
Seems that ur phone starts reading the file but stops in the middle, this means u have gone 2 update mode, only it can't continue; try another SD card.
-- Mine is Touch 3G T3238+. By far NO key comb. has worked 4 me. Seems that these cloams don't have a booter like other 1s.
I turned off my phone -> connected it 2 PC w/ WMDC -> Vol. down + green + power => a menu screen appeared!! w/ options like "update OS", "update logo" & ...
C if this works 4 u, though "update OS" did not work on my phone but mine has sum other problems 2, so u give it a try.
-- Turn ur phone off, insert the SD & just turn it on normally, this shall start reading SD.
Don't make the card as FAT 32 (though not possible!), only FAT or FAT 16.
Don't put the ROM in a folder on SD, let it be on the root directory.
-- Once open SD w/ ur phone -as u open e.g. "My document" - & c what message it shows? Does it even read the card??
Thank you very much for your help. I finally made it.
The trick ist to use a ROM with a .bin-format and rename it to "k3img.bin"
The update mode doesnt accept other names.
I flashed my phone to windows mobile 6.1 eng. version.
Now i have a bunch of other problems. Bad key mapping, no camera... and the biggest problem: the phone doesnt find any storage cards.
Under Settings-System-Memory it says: "Total storage card memory: Not installed".
What can i do? I need that extra storage.... And now i cant get into the update mode because windows deleted the old button map. Tried any combination, doesnt work.
Please help.
Hi again,
Well, I am a noob myself!! unfamiliar w/ these phones!! but I think keys problem is bcoz of the ROM; though it is installed, but it's not the proper 1!
Check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=662170&highlight=QUALCOMM seems that this "first aid" has helped!!
Trying another ROM, BUT now that u can't use SD ......!! also the PC does not run .bin or .upr files!! Mayb if u change the file 2 .exe, it gets installed (of course after sync.!)
2 get 2 update mode, c if connecting 2 PC (my prev. post) does any good!!
I don't know any way; In sum days I shall go 2 the phone service center 4 my phone; I'll ask 2 c if they knew any way & [/I]if if they let me know about it[/I]!!

Hey, I finally got it! I installed WM 6.5 ROM and my SD Card works! Key mapping is bad and the cam doesnt work but I dont really need it. The storage card was important. Now im really happy.
Thank you so much for your help! The "first aid kit" really helped in combination with the k3 IDT. You are my hero!
If somebody experience the same problems, I can explain in detail what I have done!
WOOO.........W, SO HAPPY 4 u I wish u find another ROM in future 2 make other stuff work 2!
U shall mostly thank others!! ......... OK, have fun w/ ur SD 4 now,,,, Hope it stays this way!!!!!!
hi i have the same trouble in a t3238 clone, i need to change the rom but i cant, can you help me writing step by step all procedure ? and where can to find the .bin roms = thanks
OK, I just installed the latest Froyostone android and WOW ! This is quite incredible, it's a fully functional Android on my HD2 ! Runs even faster than WM !
I didn't find any bugs yet...
Few questions..
1. Does this run from the SD ? Or did it install to the main device ROM when I first launched it ?
2. What does that mean in terms of rooting, getting in recovery, etc ? Do I need to "root" it ? How do I get in Recovery to type all sorts of commands that I see on guides ?
3. From what I can see, appstore apps install to the root SD card - That can get messy.. any way around it ?
4. Is EVERYTHING related to Android on my HD2 inside the "Android" folder in the SD card ?
5. Top 5 apps to install for a fresh Droid HD2 ?
6. Any other useful words for a beginner ?
7. Is it safe to charge in Android ?
8. I always have to boot WM first to launch Android right ?
THANKS
Read the stickies they contain all the information you have just asked
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Promise to look around in the 80 pages of that thread (Someone should make a FAQ out of it)
But if anyone have a couple minutes for me I would really appreciate it !
Thanks for looking !
EDIT - OHHHH the sticky on the DEV forum !!! I gotcha, Will get to it now thanks !!

2. What does that mean in terms of rooting, getting in recovery, etc ? Do I need to "root" it ? How do I get in Recovery to type all sorts of commands that I see on guides ? not sure what you mean
3. From what I can see, appstore apps install to the root SD card - That can get messy.. any way around it ? nope, but I always make a backup of my SD card, you get used to seeing all kinds of folders, but you can still run your WM and android with the same SD card no problem, just make sure before adding a new Android build, start with a fresh formatted SD, then install android, then drag and drop all your other files back onto the SD card.
4. Is EVERYTHING related to Android on my HD2 inside the "Android" folder in the SD card ? Nope will be all over the place
5. Top 5 apps to install for a fresh Droid HD2 ? Setcpu, angry birds demo, Laputa reader, radiotimeplayer, Swype keyboard
6. Any other useful words for a beginner ? play about, enjoy the marketplace, its not 100% perfect yet, but getting there.
7. Is it safe to charge in Android ? yep
8. I always have to boot WM first to launch Android right ?yep, but android is so stable you dont have to do this much YEP
THANK you for your time !!
Re #2 - I mean in some Android tutorials I see you can input command lines etc, to change system settings, while in "recovery mode"
How do I get to " android recovery mode" with the HD2 ? No biggie though.
Re #3, Do you just Backup your stuff (Music, books, etc) and then, before installing new Android, do you just format and put the new Android folder on there ? You totally discard the application folders and start clean ?
I see there is a way to backup some of the settings in the sticky, so I will read it.
SetCPU I assume is to lock the Leo on it's max speed, like LeoCPUSpeed for WM- Nice.
Thank you very much again lad !

#2 the ROMs are already rooted, all you need is a terminal emulator from the market.
Nice, thanks !
I am trying to install a pre-made script (exe), it should install some stuff automatically (lang, keyboard etc) and the guy who made it says you must run it in recovery mode for it to work.
How do I use the script on my HD2 ?
Thanks ! I'm lovin' android so far.
Hi all. Looking for a tool - a program which will restore the system in my Archos 70 IT. Urukdroid I installed 1.6 and I want to return to the original rom regaining a place in the internal memory because even after uninstalling Urukdroid not release the memory space that it occupied. I am interested in a tool that can restore the system when the tablet is not included. Can anyone help me. Thank you in advance.
Forgive my poor English.
1. download latest firmware from archos.com
2. reboot into recovery (powen on + hold down "vol down")
3. recovery -> repair/format -> reformat device (sry not really sure how the menus are called exactly) THIS WILL DELETE ALL THE DATA ON YOUR DEVICE AND RECREATE PARTITIONS
4. u will be asked for the previously downloaded firmware file (upload via usb connection and w8 for flash)
5. you are done - your device will we ini original state wiht latest firmware
The only sentence I don't get is:
I am interested in a tool that can restore the system when the tablet is not included
what do u mean by?
But I think u should be fine with the method described above. Since all partitions will recreated and formated u got the original stock stettings after.
FrEcP Thank you for your response. To return to the way I read the original system. Is there a program like that can save RKAnoid archos 7 for my 70IT?
wow - it's really hard to understand you
Maybe write in in your own language and try using google translate after.
I know google is not perfect either - but it's understandable most time.
Do u search for some backup program to save your data and apps before u wipe your system? Then u may try something like TitaniumBackup
If u meant RKAndroid wich is described here:
This software is for the Archos7 (home tablet) wich was a gen6 device as far as I know. The gen8 (Archos 70IT) doesn't need it for flashing the firmware.
Are u sure u have a gen8 device or is it the old gen6 archos7?
PS: next time please dont post in development section of this forum. And open those threads in "app" or "general" secion
If there are other owners of TF810 here, perhaps we could exchange our experiences about this device.
As awesome as it is it has its weak points, mainly (IMHO) due to bugs in the system itself and poor support form Asus.
My issues:
1. Sleep/hibernate - most of the time 9 out of 10 time - my TF810 just hangs and does not want to wake up.
If I pres Win button on tablet I do get vibration but nothing else happens. I have to press & hold power button for few seconds. After that I got to do it again, but this time it vibrates and starts to boot from scratch.
2. Dock does not seem to be actually charging tablet. I left the two connected for 1 night (unplugged) with tablet and when I woke up in the morning (TF810 was not shut down prev. evening) what I found is this:
http://sdrv.ms/123sQCx so it seems that during night nothing happened
3. Few times so far when dock and station were connected I have lost ability to use cursor and touch pad.
4. one time so far (I had to use restore point) I have lost touch gestures on the tablet. Touch itself was working - I could move Modern UI screen, start apps. But I could not close any of them with touch or get Charm bar up swiping from the right.
Did anyone else had similar problems?
One more thing:
If I would have to reinstall Windows 8 on this device from scratch - how do I do it?
I have not noticed any Win8 activation/serial key.
I have noticed that there is a hidden partition (actually there is few of them) on the C: drive - if I would have to start W8 from one of them - how?
Lastly...
I suppose that with limited space on this device it would be best if I could backup (what is important from those hidden partitions on cloud/nas drive) in case I will need it in future. This way I could get this space back and if needed lod backed up stuff to USB stick/micro sd card and restore form there,
Does any one knows step by step guide - since it is expensive device and Asus support is shy (to say the least) I would love to make sure I do not f..up something...
The key might be printed on a sticker in the battery compartment.
Right click on My computer > properties. Does it show "Windows 8 Pro 64bit" ? If not What is the operating system?
The recovery that you are talking is a separate partition or a folder on C drive?. Does it have a single file named RefreshImage.wim?

There is no such thing as battery compartment on TF810 + if you would read title of my post you would not ask about the system (especially that TF810 runs Atom Z2760).
Anyway, on your main question and my issue - this is how 64GB drive built in this system looks like:
https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=9B14B7F8CBC1A2BE!16032&authkey=!ACGHuYfKHyZ5fpM
So there is few GB that I could get back...
Just how?
Thing is you want to delete that partition and do a clean install
Whenever I have tried the clean install or Reset option Under settings > general, Win8 asks for a product key

Sorry but I do not follow...
I do want to get rid of this partition - it is 8GB. |Considering my drive is only 64GB - it is a lot of space I could use.
I need to be sure (before I do that) that I will be able to get W8 back on TF810 if I need to.
DVD I got is with W8 Pro (both 32/64bits) and key has been used so it will not work.
With Asus I have not seen key anywhere
I did some research and according to it Windows 8 comes with OEM Activation 3.0. It means that your product key is embedded in bios. Problem solved
Also MS has provided its own tutorial to copy recovery partition to USB drive for Surface pro.It should not work for you
http://www.microsoft.com/Surface/en-US/support/storage-files-and-folders/create-a-recovery-drive
After this you can format the 8GB partition and label it so it will show up as a new partition.
If you want to merge it with C, you will have to "Delete everything and re-install Windows" under settings > general and delete both partitions during re installation
There are a number of tools that can merge partitions without re installing but I haven't used them on Win8 so not sure about their compatibility

Thanks for the link - I'll read it now.
Merging without re installation is the most tempting option...
Aomei Partition manager is the one that I used on Win7 for this. It is pretty good. However I haven't tried it on 8 yet.
to be sure this article confirms that you will not need a product key http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-33642_7-57554240-292/windows-8-moves-to-bios-based-product-keys/

Thanks. I got to buy 8GB stick first (and 64GB micro SD card). I chave checked - Indeed I got Recovery option as described by MS.
