Mk2 vs MLA what is the difference? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

What is the difference between MK2 and MLA? Sorry for being such a n00b.

One letter and a number.
Did you mean mja?
If so do a little reading. A Google search will help too.

1.. ATT does not tell me if or what update does. This forum is where to ask.
2. I searched 4 different threads that were not conclusive and said wait for developers to tell you.
3. I have only 9 posts and can only do this in certain forums. I am following rules..

Oh noes, another MDL update thread.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337
You are running "UCUAMDB" firmware currently, aka "MDB" for shorthand. The current firmware that has been out for almost a month now is "MDL" firmware. The OTA update you are getting is for the update from almost a month ago which has since been deemed safe for Root and Recovery.
The links the others provided in the thread provide those answers. Just takes a bit more reading and understanding. Please read a bit more as the info is all there, or you will bound to run into more bashing like this.
Thank you for the help.

[Q] Need some help fixing my phone

I have an AT&T i337 S4 running Android 4.3 MK2.
I was stupid and tried to flash a recovery that wasn't compatible, now my phone only boots into ODIN mode.
I've been looking for the MD5 files for 4.3 MK2 with no success.
Does any know what I need to do to fix my phone?
Go to best buy and have them reflash the firmware. If not there's a guide in the mj6-mj9 just search and read the forums.

[Q] Delivery Reports

I'm new here, so please excuse my forum etiquette. I have the sprint samsung gs4, rooted with Odin on 4.4.2, no change in kernel or rom (that I know of).
When I go to messaging> menu> settings>, there is NO delivery reports option. Anyone that can explain this to me, or assist me with turning on delivery reports, it would be greatly appreciated.
I have researched this already and I have found NO similar case to myself. Every other guide I find shows the delivery report option available.

I don't have it on stock unrooted NAE so it doesn't seem to be a missing feature.

Safestrap question.

Hello I did a search and can't get a straight answer. I have the att gs4 4.2.2 rooted and I'm wondering what version of safestrap I need. I see mixed answers like 3.65, 3.71, 3.72 and I'm not quite sure which is it. Help will be much appreciated!

You need to search and read. It depends which version of 4.4.2 you're on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49562527

Check in settings/ more/ about device towards the end what build you have. If you are on 4.2.2 you dont need safestrap any recovery can do. If you are on 4.4.2 its a different story you have a whole different process before you get safestrap. Safestrap use is for locked bootloaders that came after builds NB1 and NC1.
Since you are already rooted there is no use for safestrap. If you are looking to flash custom roms check the ones are compatible with your present build.

If you're on mdb/mdl firmware all you need to do is put on a custom recovery to flash roms. This should help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42320391

See the second post in the link. You will need safestrap if you're on mf3. But you might want to consider updating your firmware to mk2 then see the first link I gave you. That way you'll be able to flash 4.4.2 roms

[Q] SGH-I337, where to start

So my friend has a galaxy s4 that he wants to root, custom recovery, roms.. Etc. So I was wondering where to start? I Have done this to a galaxy note 1. And I know Odin is needed but just would like help with the process for the s4, and possibly links to find what I need. Basically I will be helping with root and flashing a recovery. I know Samsung phones already have a unlocked bootloader. Any help will be thanked!

It depends on what firmware you're currently on. The s4 is not an easy device to root and rom and the roms available to you are only touch wiz based. You might want to consider not messing with your friends phone.
