Kindle Fire is not powering on? It shows the green light on the power button, but nothing powers on. Need help very quickly!!!
That's sounds like a kf1, so wrong forum. I wouldn't worry too much, those things are practically unbrickable, even if the bootloader is corrupt up you can use usbboot to reupload it and it will work again. Think this might be useful in your case, but if it is bricked to the point you have to do that you would have to pull the internal battery and try connecting something to a contact point, there's details somewhere in the amazon kindle fire forum I think.

It died and ever since then it won't turn on. It worked fine, but like I said it died and ever since then it won't turn on.
mabe you need need to power it up with one of these, so it can get power again, i was reading somewhere that if your device dies to completely no power that it will do something that's kinda like what yours is doing now. and if you do own a Kindlefire its probably a good idea to buy one of these, or a factory cable, but this does the same think with just your normal cable attached to this adapter.http://shop.teamblackhat.info/Factory-Adapters-motadapt.htm

You need to post this in the proper forum. You need the Kindle forum not KFHD7. Tech questions don't belong in the general forum either.

Before anyone asks why I'm not posting in the development area, I don't have permission cause I don't have ten posts. Anyway, I rooted my myTouch 4G about two months ago and started with CwM recovery 2.5.1.3 and Ice Glacier 1.1.4. Just about a week ago every time I plugged my phone into a computer then unplugged it, it would reboot itself and never get past the white mytouch screen. What it does is go to the screen for a few seconds, then turns black and starts over.
To get it to work, I have to remove the battery and turn it on again. Even that doesn't fix it 100% of the time. I wiped my phone this morning and flashed cyanogen mod 7 rc2 as well as updated the recovery to 3.0.0.5. But it's still doing it?
What do I do? I'm about to throw this thing down the street...
Q&A may have been a better spot to post this.
So everytime you unplug the phone from a computer the phone wants to reboot?
Have you tried using different cables?
and does your phone do this while you are are using a plug in the wall charger?
No, it is not the cable. I've used many different ones and they do the same thing. And no, using a wall charger doesn't affect it whatsoever. It only happens when I plug it into a computer. It also bootloops simply if I turn off/on the phone or reboot it by holding the power button.
Anyone know what's wrong?

If it were my phone i would check a different computer. If it still happens i would flash the PD15IMG and restore everything to stock. If it still happens i would exchange the handset.
to me honestly it sounds like a malfunction in the PC drivers since it's doing it when you unplug the phone. but then if it's doing it away from the PC it may be the phone itself. It might just be a defective phone.
Any computer does it, even the Xbox 360 and ps3, since plugging the phone into them enables disk mounting. I'm going to try formatting my SD card, I hope its not my handset.
I don't think the sdcard will do anything if it happens when you try to power off or reboot the phone. I would try the PD15 image, that way you have a common point of reference. If it happens after that, you know its hardware.
This sounds like hardware to me.

Where you running Faux's kernel?
Can you hold down the Vol +/- and then plug in your USB cable? If it is a red blinking light then I think it's a battery issue not supplying power to your motherboard.

This happened to me today. The battery indicator is incorrect, and shuts down before notifying you sometimes.
Phone shut down on me randomly and wouldn't turn back on today. Plugging into the wall didn't help. It was only when I plugged it into my PC and let it charge for 5 minutes that it came back. Scary bug.

No need to type in bold...
Faux is a developer who is putting together a new kernel for our device, basically it allows one to modify the 'engine' of our phone.
I think the consensus here is there is a manufacturing defect in your phone and a lot of other phones. It seems like this issue is connected to running a custom kernel but there are reports of 100% stock phone bricking (like yours)
It's time to call up google, nothing we can do from here.

I thanked you on accident, you didn't deserve it. There is no evidence that his phone is bricked, a user above reported the same thing happening and how he resolved it.
Also, he can type in bold if he wants to.

Hi All,
I've gone over the forum and tried consulting some of the threads with no luck.
Two days ago I left me Nexus on and it run out of battery (I think, since its no longer start).
This led me to do the following:
1. I've tried connecting it to the charger - which made no difference.
- I've tried different outlets and two different cables that I had (the original and one that belongs to an HP touchpad).
2. When it didn't work I've tried connecting it to the PC - The USB wasn't recognized in any of the hubs.
- I've tried using 'Nexus 7 toolkit' and 'Nexus root toolkit' to install drivers and it didn't help, the device appears as 'Unknown Device'
with Error 43.
3. I've tried 'long press' on the start button for 30 seconds (and more) several times with no luck.
4. Then I've tried pressing on all 3 bottoms in two different scenarios:
- in my hand: nothing happened.
- connected to the PC: the computer tried to installed something called APX and failed.
then I tried to re-install it with drivers located in the 'Nexus root toolkit' and it installed it as 'Asus Transformer Prime APX Mobile'
and I don't know what to do with it.
5. I've tried recharging it for 10 hours! and the charger isn't even hot.
Since is a combinations of several threads that didn't help I've thought that I'll create a new post.
Can someone please help?
I'm stuck and run out of solutions.
Thanks
You actually are bricked.. Some how you got yourself into app mode which basically means your tablets a brick until there's a way to fix it but there currently isn't for the nexus 7, you could try sending it back to Google but Idkk if they'd replace it for you

Awesoham, in both states the charger is not heating up. I don't know - maybe the charger is damaged.
I'll try connecting it to the computer, maybe it will charge it (as much as it takes).

I am having the same issue
I bought my nexus 7 back in July and I haven't had any issues with it until this morning. I was using it with about 16% battery left and all of a sudden it just shut off. So I put it on the charger for about 2 hours and tried to power it on. I have to hold the power button down for 20 seconds or so and after it gets to my home screen it will stay on for about 5 seconds before the screen goes crazy and shuts off. All of this done while plugged in to power.
Any ideas before I call Google?

Well if you rooted or unlocked it, your issue is a software issue and they most likely replace a software defective nexus 7 if it's rooted or unlocked

Use something to pry open the back and remove the battery. Pop it out and in, let it charge and then try. good luck!
I haven't got around to root or unlock the device, so this is not going to be a problem.
The problem is that I leave in Israel and bought the device in the U.S, so it quite a problem
sending it to google.
This is why I was looking for another way to solve the problem.

Assuming you don't break anything. The cover isn't meant to be removable, but it is certainly easy to do. Just be mindful of the NFC Chip inside the plastic backing.
I've took the cover off (with the help of this guide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XC2aGLseN64)
disconnected the battery plug and reconnected it.
I'm trying to charge it now (although it doesn't seem to be doing anything).
I'll update in a few hours.

Maybe you could try to RMA it at Asus in Israel?
Have you checked their website?

Another question [APX]
I mentioned that I was able to put the device in APX mode by pressing all 3 buttons while the device is connected to the computer.
I gave it drivers I've found in 'Nexus root toolkit' and it was installed in the device manager as 'Asus Transformer Prime Mobile'.
I've found this article in the site: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Nvflash
According to it, I'll be able to fix any brick situation. Any one knows how?
do you have a HowTo guide, or something more concrete?
Thanks

This is not another just my Nexus 7 won't turn on after running out of battery or regular SOD problem. I dirty flashed to the latest LeanRom from Smoothrom 4.3 and it was running well through out the day with the exception of SOD's during the day about 3 or 4 times. I used it until 23% battery and it shut off. I plugged it in and it was rather difficult to get it to boot through button pushes holds and combos. It booted up and I used it while it was charging untill it was around 70% battery and I went upstairs with my tablet and got in bed and used it for a while... It was around 60% and I plugged it in again and went to sleep. Keep in mind I left it overclocked as I always do with M-kernel b35 *1.7ghz default kernel voltage. and GPUat 766mhz 1295mhz voltage. Keep in mind I always manage my Temps. via apps and it never gets hot in my hand not even very warm. Only spot it would ever get even a little warm is lower left back where I think the CPU or GPU is located because that is where the Heatsink is located. I am not sure if it possibly overheated and fried it.. But as I said I have had a generous overclock on it for 3 months. Again it never became very hot ever! Anyways that morning I grabbed it and hoped in my dads car and as usual it had SOD'ed overnight. I began holding the power button for a few mins. A couple of times. It went too the Google logo with the unlocked bootloader and then i tried to turn it off and boot it again because the kernel has never been friendly with the 3.34 boot-loader. It has always had a weird time starting the os and me having to hold the power button untill it goes black and starts the Google logo and then shows my boot-loader and will start up and I release the power button. Well after that last Google logo I have not been able to power it on at ALL not even backlight glow I have charged it 15 hours and nothing. I have spent HOURS researching this and there are no links on Google that have helped. It is not the regular SOD or out of battery not starting issue. It also it not recognized by my computer and I can only see that it thinks it is called APX or something by my computer. I was hoping that some one could help. I even removed my battery and plugged it back in. I have tried all button pushing nothing... I have called ASUS but there warrenty BLOWS. Any help would be much loved =] I love my nexus =[
@@[email protected]@-- [email protected]@[email protected]@--Haha so guess what Asus fu ( ked me royaly after paying $30 dollars for shipping to Grapevine Texas and my tablet is still not turning on. It's not the charger or cord I have tried enough of those to know its not that. Is there any hope at all or am I sending it in again... also there "tech repair" people ****ed the **** out of my tablet under the hood the battery was lose yes I know I tried that too. The copper heat sink was ripped and sticking up. Stickers ripped apart. They had better send me a refurb back. To the guy before I was simply refuring too when I dirty flashed. Not that the def had anything at all to do with it. It was my dirty flash. I am rather mad about sending it in again. Any advice.. Thanks!!!
I now realize that it is APX mode WTF how in the world can I get out of it without a replacement is there anyway at all???

Mabey ill button jam while in comp for a while and see =/
situation seems grim...
If it is in APX mode, it will take 15+ seconds of holding the power button continuously to get a restart.
IF that is the case, the black-and-white Google logo will come up - if you press Vol-Down precisely at that moment, the tablet will proceed to the fastboot screen. If you don't press Vol-Down, the tablet will attempt a normal boot.
Assuming that the hardware is not damaged and the battery has a decent charge, you can always get to the fastboot/bootloader

Uh, what? This is only the case if you borked the bootloader, which should still be intact in his case. Apx mode is basically a service mode that's even lower than the bootloader, it's just that we don't know how to use it.
I insist that you keep holding the power button or perhaps play with the charge more.

I don't think so at all. I think YOU fried it. I don't mean to be harsh but you can't blame the dev's around here because you OC'd your tab way to high, and killed it.

If you got in APX mode then the bootloader is gone for good. The tablet is not able to boot any more.
It happened the same to me while flashing the 4.2.2 stock ROM: something went wrong right after the "fastboot erase xxx" commands and my tablet died.
I have searched the internet for any solutions but I failed miserably. I reverted to ship the tablet back to Asus for assistance.
Well, they picked up the package on Thurs 21 and I got my tablet back on Tue 26.
Repair was covered by warranty even though I had the bootloader unlocked (that's a mandatory step in order to flash a stock rom from Google).
They actually replaced the mainboard instead of reflashing the firmware.
That suited me fine.

N7s that are operating correctly can enter and exit APX mode at will; by itself, APX mode does not necessarily indicate a problem. ( Failure to get the boot loader to appear obviously is a problem.)
For devices operating normally:
- From power off, Vol-Up+Pwr (3 seconds) puts the N7 into APX mode.
- From APX mode, holding power for 15+ secs loads the bootloader - which will attempt loading the (regular) boot partition. If the Vol-down button is pressed within about 1 second of the b&w Google logo appearing, this boot sequence is interrupted and the boot loader proceeds to fastboot mode.
Just a clarification that seeing APX mode does not necessarily equal disaster. As you were!
Hey guys,
Well I screwed up and I think the only thing to ask is whether this situation is covered by warranty.
Yesterday I received my new USB OTG cable, because the other one stopped working as soon as you would turn it a little. I tested it with a mouse yesterday and it was running flawlessly. Today, I wanted to test whether it would be able to mount USB sticks, so I took the nearest one and plugged it in. The screen was locked, and after nothing happened I tried to unlock the screen, which wouldn't work. The rest is history and a lot of confusion and anger.
The problem might have been that it was a bootable USB stick containing Ubuntu 13.04, but I'm heavily doubting that this caused a brick. I mean, just plugging a USB stick in cannot brick a tablet? Wubi is an .exe-file an AFAIK Android cannot do anything with this by itself.
I was running PA 3.98/stock kernel and didn't have any program like stickmount installed. I cannot access the bootloader, charging the tablet gives no response at all and when I try to connect it to the computer, it just says that it cannot recognize the device.
Thanks in advance :crying:
Hmm, anyone? I guess I'll ask it in the Ubuntu forums tomorrow too.

Have you tried holding down the power button for 20-30 seconds to force a reboot? Is it possible it is suffering from the low battery bug? By that I mean is it possible it had a low battery or it thinks it had a low battery and freaked out?

Just wow, this really worked.
I feel so retarded now, I already tried holding down power for a while but nothing happened. Guess I was kind of freaking out and couldn't think straight anymore.
Could you tell me more about this low batt bug? Because my tablet was at 1% when it just booted and it was around 40-50 when it gave up.

Glad I could help, sometimes it's the simple stuff that gets overlooked in moments of panic. There is a sticky in this section and other posts as well regarding the battery bug.

I guess most of the panic came from the coincidence that it shut down at the exact moment of connecting a bootable USB using a new USB OTG cable gehehe.
