Samsung has introduced a small update for two of its terminals in 2013, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and S4 Samsung Galaxy Mini, which will now have the so called 'Black Edition' in which the distinguishing feature is the back color leatherette black.
This finish mimics that of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to be launched in September last year, but there are major changes except for the inclusion of some wallpapers and additional ringtones.
*EDIT: You have a normal i9505 still, only changes the black back cover. You can flash i9505 roms, mods and smart cases without problems :highfive:

i saw a hands on which told the black edition has LTE-A.this would mean that it is not 100% identical, but i dont know it.
btw; the definitive answer would be very interesting to me, too.

should i upgrade???

i have samsung galaxy s2 international version (gt i9100), i didn't liked s3 so i didn't buy it now s4 is an announced and it will be available in few weeks should i upgrade to s4 or not??
it's a big upgrade from the galaxy s2 so if your not interested in another phone like Htc one or sony xperia Z then you should get it , i know i will
My note n7000 has some juice left in it so i will wait for a note 3 and youm technology. If its size fits me well then i will get a note. If note3 is any bigger than 5.9 i will simply downgrade to 4.99. Though i love my notes 5.3 display.

In the same boat.. Have the i9100 and skipped the S3. Debating between the S4, One and Z..
You should definitely update. S2 is yesterday's news. Which phone to upgrade to is your decision to make.
Definitely upgrade bro. The s2 is old news now. Two generations behind. I'm going to upgrade from an HTC One S.

If you are interested in the Samsung's technolog in S4, I think S4 is a great upgrade. HTC One or Sony Xperia Z are also another options, but my suggestion is choose S4 if you decide to upgrade.
What was it about the S3 that you didn't like? And what does the S4 have that makes it desirable over the S3? I'm sure if you answer this you'll have your answer.

I owned Xperia Z currently, has been using HTC flagship phones (Sensation/One X) also have S3.. I will be getting S4 for my wife haha...
I have a very bad experience with HTC after sales service.. might not be returning to HTC anymore.. The fool me twice..
Bought two flagship phone and was downgraded the flagship status after a few weeks owning it..
Tried Xperia Arc before now using Z, UI wise is not as nice as Sense and TouchWiz.. but acceptable with less rubbish...
I would definitely consider the upgrade if I was you. My wife has an s2 and the s4 is a massive upgrade.
Maybe not
I am using a HTC Sensation from 2 years ago, and I find the phone still able to meet most of my needs (except for the battery time :crying. I am not a crazy app user, but I do use some essential apps like camera, IM, evernote, forum, and occasional gaming as well. The phone is definitely slow compared with S3, Note 2, but does it bother me enough so i want to change my phone? NO.
I say unless you have heaps of extra cash that you don't care much for the cost, then upgrade; otherwise you can still get a good 1 - 2 years out of your S2 (which is a better phone than my sensations)
how about comming from an S3
Coming from S3, not really worth it IMHO. Most of the S4 software features will be coming to S3 in an update soon. But if you have a 2011 device like me, definitely worth it. It's a massive leap

coming from an S3...meh...I bet all of the gesture options could be available through hacks in the near future. So some people might not want to because it isn't that much of an improvement other than software. That being said, I'm the type of person that flocks to the best screen available. M personally, I would upgrade just because of the screen itself.

I hear ya. I have an S3, and just the other day went to T-Mobile and played with the Nexus 4. Oh man that screen is so much nicer. I don't think I'm gonna stick around with Samsung screens anymore. I'll see what the S4 is about, but if its anything remotely similar to the S3 its done. IPS LCD is so nice and bright. Makes me sad to look at my blue tinted S3, even though I'm using a custom AOSP ROM with a color fix for the screen, still not the same.
I can't decide between the S4 or HTC ONE >.<
(I currently have the Galaxy S 4g, which is like 3 generations old xP!!)
Coming from the S3 I was sure to upgrade to S4 but finaly I bought a Note2:silly:

i9500 or i9505?!

Ok, So I have a choice between the two - Which has the better scene/dev support?
I really enjoy AOKP/AOSP/CM roms..
This will be my 1st Samsung phone after having a HTC One X and currently a iPhone 5 (Ugh, don't ask... )
I don't want to get stuck on the least-supported handset - that would just feck me off no end..
Thanks in advance
I9500 is slightly faster than I9505, but nothing that too noticeable in real world performance. However I9505 has better dev support (even official CM!). Hope this clarifies

Hey Thanks for the swift reply!
I'm not too concerned bout "slight" performance differences if their not noticeable in everyday usage. I would rather get the 9505 as 4G is slowly being turned on around here and its something I'm keen on
I9505 for sure... battery life is much better for me that is big reason to buy this model...

I9505 anytime friend
But instead of a new thread use search for the same query u ll have more answers already
.
Yup, I9505 all the way, there`s always something going on with the Exynos cpu`s wether for the S2, S3, Note and Note 2. Now i hope Samsung stores the EFS on a secure partition in the near future to avoid Imei`s beeing wiped.
9505 for sure. Dev support and any other aspect imho. This is very solid gear.

When you recommend i9505, even the Google Play Edition (i9505G) is included, right?

GT-I9505 has a bigger system partition, so if you want to install a TW ROM you must have this one. However if you intend in not using any TW or variants ROM you can go for GT-I9505G, which has a bigger data partition at the price of less system partition (in my case the G would be better, as I have now 2.12GB free in system ROM lol, but G wasn't released when I got mine).

[Q] s5 new touchwiz to note 3

Yeah, I just came here to start a poll on this story
IMHO we will get it - I think the original Samsung plan was to release a final 4.4.2 for the Note 3 only AFTER the S5, but the XEO leak might have prompted them to release early (and again IMHO unfinished, but that at least has forced a lot of apps to be updated for 4.4 much earlier, so it will make a much nicer launch for Samsung with the S5).
I hope not. That would hold me back buying the note 3. The New settings...meh

Officially, I don't think we'll get it. Look at the note 2. When the Note 3 released many thought air command would come to the note 2 with the 4.3 update. It turned out not to be so.
Unofficially Air command came to the note 2 before the offiical update arrived.
Which proved the device was more than capable, but Samsung didn't want to jeopardise potential upgraders ,so it wasnt ported.
We'll see though, no one knows for certain. Quite frankly I've been surprised Samsung have shown soo much support for the Note 3 with updates. Hopefully the trend continues.

Note 2 and Note 3 are direct competitors on the same segment of the market which is DEFINED by the SPen (and I would also add here the original Note 8, which has not even got 4.3 but at some point might jump directly on 4.4) - so on all those it is not a surprise that Samsung holds back stuff on the older models in order to sell the newer ones.
However the Note 3 and the S5 are not quite on the same segment.
But in the end you could be right, and Samsung could just slow-down the updates. But they might still need a new set of updates with the new Gear stuff anyway, so we'll probably see more details in 2-3 months.
I hope so. Tired of looking at the same Touchwiz for so long.
I am Aquaman!
i hope they change TW with new one. also i am tired of using the same TW since years.
Ps. as i noticed that galaxy s5 is a bit far from expectations. Personally i got disappointed and happy owned a note 3
note 3 new touchwiz
I do hope they update the note 3 with the new touchwiz please it looks better and refreshing to the users and i think it will be more light than the touchwiz the note 3 has right now hopefully they do update it with the new software s5 has along side with kitkat

Ah I couldn't agree more... I only just got note 3 about a week ago I got the rose gold black lte and then i was hearing stuff like 2k resolution for s5 metal finish. . But after seeing it lol... I'm glad I got my note 3... I brought it out so won't be changing for many years now... also I must say the Sony z2 looked nice.. I'm just waiting for a tablet to come out which really is high end. .. comparing stuff with the note 3...everything out for me is a bit... meh lol
I hope that Galaxy Note 3 can have the new Galaxy S5 UI, do you think its possible that some user can port the Galaxy S5 ROM to Note 3?

Do you think they forgot about that before designing S5's keys? It can be long press multitasking = menu.

Well, actually after MS came out with phone interface in Win 8, making it totally useless for mouse operated computers, KK breaking third party program usage of SD cards and Google maps update getting rid of traffic menu option, the only option I ever use on daily bases, me think everything is possible LOL. So it should be menu key long press brings multitasking on Note 3, I could go with that.
So what happens with S-finder we get now with long press of menu key?

Yes this is an alternative I've settle for lol!!!
s4 might get some goodies and that too after 6 months but note 3 might not.
We will as the trend for Sammy to update all its devices to the same icons and some other stuff. But as far a full blown version I don't think so
dont forget the thanks button if I helped out!!

Note tablet is pretty decent the 10.2 2014 Edition. - it's basically a massive Note 3 without the call functions.

[Q] Galaxy S4 touchwiz like S5?

Any chance, later on, when galaxy s5 will come on market and developers play around with it, that galaxy s4 will get a rom like the galaxy s5's? I mean the better touchwiz, new settings, new toogles, etc....i just hope this will be made, cause i really don't wanna buy the S5, i don't find it a big improvement over S4 so i would love to have the S5 launcher and setting and blabla on my S4

even if it was, it wont be able to use the ROMs or kernels available here and doesn't fit into this forum.
Joke of the year!
No, the I9500 is far better and more powerful than the N9500.
