Can anyone tell me how to unbrick my phone. - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I flashed the NAE tar from the Mega site. It seemed to work okay, but then it just did a random reboot without any prompt from me and now it won't boot info recovery. It also won't flash ODIN tars. Well.. It flashes them but it doesn't boot up. On KIES it says that its not compatible wiht my device

You are probably trying to odin other tars that are 4.3 or 4.2.2 which are not compatible with 4.4 as you can't go backwards thanks to Knox.

No. I'm aware that yu can't go back. Nothing that I flash sticks. Nothign loads. It just gives a quick glimpse of the bootloader screen then turns off. I"ve tried flashing recoveries and CF auto root. Nothing is working.

Okay, well... I've flashed more than a thousand times between my last two phones. I've never seen this before. I've used PIT files with the Tar and it still doesn't work. I'm fairly familiar with how ODIN works, but I'm wondering if I need to do something in a special order or something. I'm wondering if I can look at the partitions manually with ADB. I've used that before with my Evo 4G, but never on this S4. I need some fresh ideas... I'm all out. I've done everything that I know to do.

I would find a stock file for the s4 sprint version. And try flashing that, do a search for unrooting and returning to stock on the sprint galaxy s4. Then reroot etc.

Go to qbking77.com and you'll find your solution there. Good Luck.

The problem is you already upgraded to NAE which means none of the current stock tar files will work since there isn't an NAE stock tar file yet. You could try to odin the philz or twrp recovery and then install one of the NAE roms in the development section. Hopefully, the NAE stock tar will be available soon which would definitely fix your problem.

[Q] soft brick help

im kinda new to the whole rooting/rom thing, i rooted my s4 successfully, but when i went to install the rom i thought it was on my usb retardedly, so i wiped my phone, hooked up the usb, and it wasnt there. it said my phone was unrooted and asked me if i wanted to instal s2 to root it i hit yes, and now the phone wont boot up past samsung galaxy s4 home screen. i was using TWRP but it wont even open ... help me please im freakin out, prolly broke my phone i just bought it a week ago.
edit: okay so after trying like 15x twrp finally opened up. i put the backup i made onto my pc. do i just load it onto my usb, hook it up and go twrp > restore > usb-otg and restore it?
edit2: i go to restore but it shows nothing in my usb.
im freaking out again help please >.< do i need a file to install/where can i get it to get back to stock?
Download Odin and a rom in .tar format. Hold the volume down and power button to go into download mode. Then connect to usb and see the com port pop up, then select the pda tab and browse to the tar file. Then flash that. It will install stock firmware and recovery or rooted firmware and custom recovery based on what tar file you download.
If that sounds like too much to take in, and I suck at writing this kind of stuff up, do a YouTube search for sprint s4 unbrick/unroot and it should show all the steps.

Always, read and double check, even triple check before you mess with your phone. You should be alright if you follow previous post instructions.

Panicking wont help.jst do as the op said. Flashing ur way thru odin.
Before that do double check the version dat it support ur device.pay attention to this.n do calmly.
N the more u try more r d chances of getting thru the prob.
Do search for s4 backup n restore it.
Or repair via kies.

[Q] MK6 nonhlos.bin (where to find?)

Hi guys,
I'm pulling my hair out at this point. 1 week, no cellular data, I've tried everything but uncovered I might need to install a nonhlos.bin file?
Can someone point me to the nonhlos.bin file I need for these stats:

Here is where to go after to return to stock, you need to used the odin version here or else stock f/w dont flash. Make sure you do not re-partition. Follow the guide perfectly and make sure your current bootloader is same version of stock fw your returning to. I didnt bother resetting flash counter with triangle away, just adds more brick risk. after that I re-rooted with chainfire su for canada, installed cwm recovery via playstore, upgraded to philz recovery. Next i installed infamous 10.1 R2 rom *make sure your phone is compatible with this rom. From there i followed tutorial to upgrade to mk6 modem from above. Finally i wiped factory resest via philz recovery and installed a kitkat build that require mk6 modem. All working great!!
see
http://www.androidrootz.com/2013/06/how-to-unroot-unbrick-galaxy-s4.html
My bootloader is MDJ so i returned to MDJ stock! I did not have knox and still do not. Be carful not to accidentally install knox know upon first boot with stock fw.
I believe if you have an MK6 bootloader then it means you have knox.
Another safer option is to restore via samsung tool but then you may loose some root functionality

Mistakingly flash international ROM

OOPS.
I flash an international ROM before realizing what I did!
The ROM was EchoeROM, 4.4. Custom recovery is TWRP.
In it's current state, I cannot boot to recovery. I CAN boot to download mode but Odin fails repeatedly.
I attempted the firmware recovery via Kies, but (as we know) it's ****. Kies asks for a S/N and no matter how correct it is (lol) it's not valid to Kies.
With ODIN I've tried 2 different kinds of 1-click flashes, one is stock w/ root, the other without root. And also the traditional ODIN3v1.85 with L720VPUAMDC_L720SPTAMDC_L720VPUAMDC_HOME that I got from stockroms.
so, help? anyone? :crying:

+1 That's what I was thinking too. I'm pretty sure on the E4GT if someone flashed the International version they needed to use a JTAG service to fix it. This is the first time I have read about this problem on this phone though so maybe not as bad???

[Q] Need Wifi Help (Not turning on)

I was running MJA/CM10.2 but needed to update my PRL.
In the process, I decided to update to MK2/CM11.
I started by flashing Stock MK2 w/Root ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2586586) then ODINd the MK2 Firmware (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42954149) to get Sense.
PRL and Profile updates, noticed that my Wifi wasn't connecting at that point.
Flashed CM11's Snapshot (http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=jfltespr&type=snapshot), flashed Wifi Fix, and my wifi is stuck on "Turning on wifi" and won't get past that point.
Anyone know what I need to do to get wifi restored? I've been searching for solutions for about an hour and can't really find one.

Sounds like you did the wrong files. If you're on NAE you have to use the NAE hotspot mod. And then it depends if you are odex or deodexed. What exact hotspot files did you use and what android version are you running.

I would advise you to Odin NAE tar since you said you are on 4.4 which is NAE. It will bring you back to a unroofed state and should get you back up and running. This won't delete any data so you shouldn't worry about that. Since you used Odin to root, you should be able to Odin.the NAE tar.
