Hi There,
after I updated to kitkat, I have more Android-System drain then screen. Over 23% Android-System and round about 20% Screen.
With Jelly Bean I have had 50 % for screen and I could use my Phone for 3 days with normal use, 2 hours Screen ON Time per day...
My Phone is NOT rooted and I can't analyse the drain with wakelook detector.
Maybe anyone have the same issue with the phone and can help me to find a solution.
here a few pics from my phone and the Battery-consumption
excuse me for my bad English!
best regards

Solution is very easy. Factory reset your phone. NOTE: Files in Internal SD would be deleted too. So backup whatever you need, or everything in there to your PC, just in case.

With pure stock unrooted Kitkat, it seems Android OS/System sits around 17-25% average. You can limit the usage by turning off GPS and uninstalling Google Search / Google+ and switching off Google Now. Reboot into recovery mode (yes stock recovery) wipe cache and then boot up the phone again. Simple no bells and whistles tweak. It works.
Thank you for the answer!
This steps are already done. It doesn't help ?

try battery calibration
This is common problem on the galaxy tabs. Dont worry just yet. I had the same problem on the stock rom but as soon as I flashed task650's rom the problem dissapeared. Try just using the tab a couple of charge cycles(charge all the way, then let die completly). There also some apps on the market that will reset battery stats but I think you might have to root to do that. If you havent already, I would try to root/install custom recovery, because this gives you many more ways to troubleshoot your problem.

Hope it works for you. Never experienced this and glad for that. Wonder how long the life of our batteries will be?

Hi guys, as I wrote in the title I have a really awful battery life with my Nexus 4 and I don't think it is related to the rom/kernel I'm using because lots of people with the same configuration have no problem. I'm currently using PA 3.99 RC2 with Semaphore kernel, but I've tried also franco and I have the same result. I started from stock rom and then i did a full wipe before installing PA, but I keep having problems. This is my situation:

I'm unable to post a log because the apps don't show it to me (I can't understand why) but it seems like the problem is related to the app I use, anyway these are very popular apps and I find absurd that to have a decent battery life I have to uninstall them because in this case I would only use the phone to call and send texts, many people are using these apps and they have a great battery life so I can't understand.
which recovery are u using? u need maybe to update it or try another recovery. I had problems with some roms, after switching to another recovery everything was fine.
maybe u give it a try:good:

I'm using TWRP, it seems strange but i'll try with CWM!
Try detecting what's using resources and keeping the device woken up with WakeLockDetector.
@mods: can't we just sticky the Battery Impressions Thread adding a 'post your battery issues here' to it's title? We're getting overloaded with battery drain threads, and the issues are common enough to have them a sticky. Thx.

I used it, in fact I posted a screen with the result and it seems that google+, facebook messenger and whatsapp are causing the issue but this apps are used by many people and they don't have problems, it just doesn't make any sense to uninstall these because I mostly use the phone for these apps :s
Hello, I'm having a problem, my Wakelock Detector detects a lot of wake time (72%) by a kernel wakelock named "wlan_wake" and I don't really know how to solve it! I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 with the 4.3 android version, official release, and this started to happend less than a week ago. I cleaned cache and dalvik, I tryed to let the wifi always off, and nothing worked... Solutions?

It didn't help me!
but after restarting the phone the problem is gone. AND ITS BACK AFTER 2 DAYS!!!
EVERY TIME!!
Ohh yes.. And I know that if i turn of the WIFI the problem is gone..
BUT!!! I want the Wifi to be ALWAYS on..
Please help!!!
I would suggest doing a full wipe on your ROM or trying a different kernal. By the way, using CAPS and a lot of !!!!!!! will just make people not want to help you.
Same here. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2533853

this issue was introduced with 4.1.2
and it seems to be always occur after a application has updated through googleplay.
Two days ago I've installed last official upgrade to 4.4.2 kitkat on my unrooted 4.3 Note 3.
Phone is worst than before.
Battery life is signifincatly less (about 50% less) and the phone (petfect before) now is slower and less snappy.
Solid Explorer (the file manager) is mo more able to write to external SD.
And I read Other people have same problem no matter the file manager they use.
Anyone have noticed same things?

If you are rooted, there is a fix for the SD card issue. Else, just wait for the OTA.
For the other problems, try a factory reset.
Did anyone come up with a fix

In same situation as yours I factory reset & clear catch in recovery, now battery life is amazing:thumbup:

Found battery life to be better in kit kat if anything. I did factory reset before upgrading though.
The Samsung file manager writes to external sd. If you don't want to root you might just have to put up with that piece of garbage until the solid explorer Dev gets around to updating his app to comply with the new security requirements in kit kat.

I have had very good battery life on kitkat. it all depends on how you set up the rom. Also these screenshots are just an average day.. i booted into recovery twice.

I have the same issue... Maybe it's just a false report, like with Bluetooth before ( it was saying that bluetooth take like 7% of battery and was keeping the device awake while in fact it was not)
I'm on stock kitkat 4.4.2 20D EUR open with cloudyfa kernel (I have a custom recovery and KnockCode doesn't work with KK stock kernel)

Download wakelock detector from the play store. You will have to root your phone for the app to work properly.
Let it run for a day then post the results of the app on here and I can tell you what's causing this issue.
