I tried upgrading the OS of my phone from Jelly bean to Kit-Kat. I rooted the phone first and then installed the new ROM using ODIN. Earlier it was working fine but the wifi wasn't working properly so I again downgraded the OS to Jelly bean but now it shows no network. I went in the service menu using the code *#0011# there it shows IMEI corruption. I even showed to many service centers they couldn't fix the problem they tried to overwrite the IMEI but they weren't successful in doing so some even told that it can't be repaired. The phone is out of warranty. Is there any way to get rid of the problem without changing the motherboard ?

You cannot downgrade Kitkat to Jelly Bean coz u have new bootloader now. Make a full wipe and install Kit Kat again :highfive:

Have you tried to use the tool kit all in one (AIO) to bring the phone back to its original stock? If you have not, why don't you give it a try to see if that helps.

Hello guys !
Last Sunday I bought a LG G2 D803 (Canada Telus version). Phone had jelly bean installed in it, was rooted (didn't know at point), was accepting any sim (made a few call with it). When I got home I connected it to the wifi and did the OTA update to kitkat. I found the phone stuck upon reboot to the lg logo. I used LG flash tool to put it back to stock and I have the phone now running kitkat (root lost). Now here is what is happening:
- Phone doesn't recognize any of the sims I have tried (Tried Rogers, ChatR, and Koodo). It doesn't everything else but says "No sim card"
- I checked about phone and I can see the IMEI and baseband and all that (it's not null nor void)
- I turned it off several times removed the sim for a while put it back and turn it on again no luck
- I used the flash tool to try to downgrade to jelly bean and no luck with that.
I am pretty sure that this is not a hardware problem (at least I hope). I am out of ideas though. Any suggestions as to what is causing the phone not to read sim cards and possible solutions?
Got it to work

This is what I did (I hope it helps someone who is stuck in the same situation):
1. Rooted phone by using Kingo App
2. Installed TWRP 2.7.0 with the AutoRec App
3. Rebooted into custom recovery
4. Did a wipe (except for data)
5. Fixed permissions
6. Turned it off
7. Removed sim for a couple of minutes
8. Put back sim and boot
Working now!!!
[Q] Nexus 4 has stuck on this message "Android is upgrading...........starting apps"
i have Google nexus 4 , i download and install the android official stock rom 4.4 Kitakat from google developer and after flashing complete then my phone start but this will stuck on this message "android is upgrading...........starting apps".
i also download and install the android 4.2.2 official stock rom. Everything fine, but it did not display the baseband version .... Imei number and imei sv not found.........My sim card does not work
If your phone can boot 4.2.2 but not 4.3 or 4.4 and has no imei on 4.2.2, your phone will probably have to be sent for repair. There is no way that I could find to inject the imei back into the phone like a Samsung.

is there any solution to recover imei njumber and baseband version...
thanks
Deep
There is no current solution to flash IMEI on a NEXUS 4. Only way to get the phone working is to replace the board. You can trying buying a cracked screen nexus 4 with a working IMEI from ebay and replace the board your self.

some people claim that there is a box which can be used to flash the IMEI, i am not sure if this works.

End users do not have access to the imei folder on the phone which is why is needs to be send back to LG for repair.
In Samsung phones, the imei can be injected back into the phone since end users have access to the EFS folder.
I have got the same problem. I know that is possible to repari with octopus/octoplus software..
Never heard of it Octopus before. Have you tried it?
Edit: I found the LG Octopus tools but the program stops because it is looking for some kind of card. I guess additional hardware is required to fixed the imei on the N4.
The Octo Box software will only work with an Octo Box, which cost 160- 200 USD (same price as a used nexus 4 on ebay ). Or you can go to a shop and see if they have the box.
Just out of curiosity, did you purchase you nexus 4 from the Google play store or the carrier?
Hello guys
my problem started when I tried to upgrade from 4.4.2 (KitKat) to 5.0.1 (lollipop), I tried first to upgrade using Kies but I just didn't work it recognized my phone and downloaded the firmware but couldn't install, so I went to the other option "odin" I flashed the firmware for my region for my phone yet when it turned on I had a very week signal.
when I tried going back to kitkat I had no service at all and lost my IMEI and baseband, then I tried different regions of lollipop and kitkat, but still nothing, and I thought I lost my IMEI and that I need to write it manually using this box (I don't remember its name) until yesterday when I flashed a Turkish kitkat which restored my IMEI and baseband but still no service, then I backed up my efs folder and went on trying every modem in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192025
I tried everyone of them some gave me "no service" others "emergency calls only" and a third group didn't even recognize the sim card however all of them changed my IMEI to either NULL or the fake IMEI.
now I tried to restore my esf folder but it didn't work, so I thought to re-flash the Turkish firmware (which retrieved my IMEI and serial) but also didn't work and now I still have a fake IMEI which is weird because it worked before.
I tried every method every solution and nothing worked
I even contacted Samsung who told me that it cannot be fixed in Europe cause it is an international model and has to be fixed from where it was bought (Jordan)
and now um feeling really hopeless
please help

Same problem here. I have no idea what my original firmware was. My phone was bought in Panama...

if there is a solution !!!
so my nexus 5 screen is completly f***ed up so i had no choice but to switch again to my old i9500 galaxy s4
i didn't used it in a long time and it had a custom rom & root on it and all that good stuff
but when i inserted my sim (which is a new sim btw & worked flawlessly on my nexus 5) i just dont seem to get any reception & when i touch "Mobile networks" option in the settings i get "Insert SIM card to access network services" needless to say that the sim card are obviously inside my phone
i tried so much diffrent methods that i found online & on this forum which non worked unfortunately
tried installing a couple new modems trough odin which non worked
also tried to give premissions to the efs folder & change owner & it didnt worked

i hope someone here maybe will know how to fix this S***ty problem...

Hi bro first of all thanks for helping me out here but i tried to download a firmware from the site you gave me & its downloading at 15kbps!! It will take too much time to download...
is there any other source i can download it?
+ can you please explain what will be different from the stock 4.3 rom i installed?
Thanks again for helping out, Much appreciated!!
You should flash the latest 5.01 rom, not 4.3.
Try searching for the rom on updato.com.

and i get the same exact problem
also im not 100% sure but i remember i checked the efs folder and it was empty...
am i f***ed or is there still hope?
i have the imei number on the sticker under the battery btw if that helps
Did you flash anything else that could have caused the loss of imei?
The imei should be able to be injected by a cell repair shop via jtag.
