Is it possible? Has anybody successfully done this? I'd love to, a screen of this size should not be running a standard phone DPI. I have changed my DPI but would love to run tablet ui. Any help is appreciated

Since the nexus 7 is no doubt going to be an popular device. There will be apps tailored for it. It is my opinion that a build prop change would be beneficial for our tabs.
Now all we need is the build prop fingerprint of the nexus 7
Sent from my Galaxy S too!
I tried using dpi changer to change the 7.7 to 213 like the Nexus 7, but got stuck in a boot loop and had to restore. Anyone else had more luck? It makes sense to try to emulate the Nexus 7 setup, it is a very popular tablet and stacks of apps will be fully compatible
Sounds interesting, we should look into this, just be careful as build.prop changes can brick you up and I would rather not go through that again if possible.....really bad fealing not having a working tab and having to pray it will come back to life again....brick bug and all
Yeah, but if we just change the device fingerprint, it should be safe. It just "tells" every app that "i'm a nexus 7!!"

Instead of using DPI Changer app I just changed the build.prop to a DPI of 213. I didnt really like it.. I have both the 7.7 and the Nexus 7 and the screen is just a bit too big on the 7.7 for a DPI of 213 - the icons look large and grainy, and it also breaks contact and calendar (planner). I've changed it back to the native DPI of 160 for now
i try dpi 230 - interface like telephone mode, but without virtual buttons. i try modify framwork-res.apk for add wirtual buttons, but its not work- tablet boot without wirtual buttons
Hello,
I have a silly question, recently changed the dpi setting to 160 in order to utilize the tablet mode and I was wondering if there was an option to add the arrow function on the dock like what is currently used in the samsung galaxy tablet. I like the idea of having everything integrated into the dock section Or if someone knows an alternative method it would be appreciated as well.
Thanks
As a matter of preference, I set the DPI of my nexus 7 to 320, by changing buildprop ro.sf.lcd_density. This sets all applications to run in an enlarged cell phone mode. I love the way everything looks, and while I know most people wouldn't agree, it's perfect for me. However, doing this added the camera to the lockscreen as well, and I can't get rid of it. I'm running Lockscreen Policy, which allows me to remove widgets, but because the device is a Nexus 7, it won't allow me to disable the lockscreen camera (probably because it's not supposed to be there).
An interesting problem, with hopefully a simple solution. Thanks in advance, and thanks for all the help this community has already given me.
fyi, I am using stock rooted 4.2.1, stock kernel. I'd really like to be able to revert the lockscreen back to the way it was in 4.1, but I don't see that happening without flashing a ROM, which I don't want to do.
Sorry for a noob question.
I am using rooted 4.4.2 kk stock on i9500. Searched everywhere but havent yet found the solution. How to
Increase the icons size in app drawer. I want to keep the stock launcher ie touchwiz.
I like big icons as in ios
Edit the LCD density setting in build.prop.
Thanks for replying bro... Can you please explain a lil bit..! If it can happen through
Editing building.prop then i reckon its a easy mod. :good:
Sure. In build.prop is a setting labeled "ro.sf.lcd.density". The default setting is 480dpi. Change the DPI setting with a text editor and reboot to make everything on the screen larger or smaller. If you don't want everything to change size when you change the DPI, but do want to make the icons larger, you'll need to use a replacement launcher like Nova or an app like Giganticon.
Thanks for quick reply mate.
Well tried it and experimented with value 300. After reboot
Touchwiz stopped and stuck on error loop. Is there any range limitation
Coze subsequently systemui stopped working too.
You likely did hit a limit. On my old device, which had a stock density of 160, it was possible to go as low as 120 without an issue, and could easily do 240. I personally haven't attempted to change the DPI on the S4 because the icons are plenty large enough as it is.
My personal recommendation is to not bother using the Touchwiz launcher and install Nova instead, rather than playing with DPI settings. Because as I mentioned previously, everything changes size when you change the density. It's not just the icons that will change size, but the text as well.
Indeed..so its not a exact solution but a workaround. I better
Opt for another launcher than editing this then. Thanks mate
Your tip added a little more to my knowledge base.
Hey,
Is it somehow possible to increase the height of the samsung stock keyboard beyond the stock values? I know I can adjust the size in settings but I want to make it bigger because I'm using quite low DPI. I'd there any setting or value I can change in root browser?
Same question for SwiftKey BTW. I know it's possible with gboard but I don't like it.
Thanks.
