Hello everybody,
First off all please excuse me if this topic was discussed before!
I am using a Nexus 4 since July 2013. For me it is a FANTASTIC smartphone. When I bought the phone, came with Android 4.2.2 and CyanogenMod 10.?.?. I am not too handy about smartphone's OS. Starting with november 2013 I start to experience first problems with my phones. After I answer at phone or after I press dial button, the phone's display turn in black. If I will move the phone in front of my eyes, the display remain still black. Yesterday (17-FEB-2014) I install Android 4.4.2 and CyanogenMod 11.0.0 It is AN HUGE success for me, but my smartphone still have the same problem.
I hope somebody from this forum will provide me some advises.
Respectfully
Thank you!
P.S. Sorry for my grammar mistakes!

Just the basic advice: clean flash 4.4.2 factory image and check if the problem still exists. If not,it's definitely a sensor problem. And you claimed that you got it with cm10 which is possible(google forgot to restore it) and it was sent back to google because of its sensor.

remove your screen protector
I have exactly the same thing on my n4.
It have a screenprotector on the display witch goes over the sensors in the above left side.
when i pull the protector off, then everything is fine.
It's not a phone or sensor problem.
Unbelievable!!!
Wooow :laugh::laugh::laugh:
It was mega-simple. I just pull of the screen protector. Now it works as a rocket :good::good::good:
Thanks a lot everybody!!!

Hi there,
My O2 XDA IIi has recently died, 2 months outside of warranty of course.
Is it any use to anyone here?
The screen was working, but has a couple of scratches, and the battery is good. It has been dropped a number of times, so the case isn't pretty, but these are all very minor cracks. I thought it had survived all these drops fine, but a couple of weeks ago I found it suddenly dead and refusing to power on, so I guess the abuse has taken its toll. I've tried removing the battery & powering it on using the reset button but to no avail.
I have no idea whether this unit is itself reparable, or whether it's only use is its spare screen & battery, but ideally I'd prefer this to go (free) to someone who is interesting & who is contributing to the user community - perhaps someone who is developing software for the XDA, or working with Linux on it.
I think email is enabled in my profile, but otherwise contact [email protected]
If you want this XDA then it's probably better to contact me directly rather than posting here - you'll see that I'm not a regular on these forums.

Hey hey XDA. Ive been lurking for a good year or two and have never really had a need to post, but I felt it might be useful to share my experiences with the Omnia7. I got it almost after launch in the UK and was...slightly unimpressed. My love for the handset grew, however the technical issues also started to swell. Firstly I experienced the unresponsive home button issue and had the handset replaced twice due to screen issues. Secondly, the frame started to crack recently and trust me, I dont do anything with my handset to cause it to crack...nor do I bash it around causing the paint to flake off!a
Anyway, the final straw was yesterdays 'black screen of death'. I was using it as normal and put it in my pocket after class. I am walking home and go to check to the time only to find that it wouldnt respond. This is followed by a random reboot followed by a series of white lines flashing across the top of the screen...followed again by a load of pink and green dots appearing and disappearing. The phone reboots again and then works...only to repeat again. Add to this an OS which has yet to be given any sort of new lease of life beyond a bit of copy and paste...well...im saddened.
Orange were kind enough to send another one today but having reviewed my options, im afraid to say im jumping ship back to Android. I was under the impression that the Omnia 7 was a well built handset with a solid OS...but that doesnt seem to be the case. That or im incredibly unlucky. :/ Phone is heading straight to Amazon Marketplace in its shiny new packaging!
Anyway, thanks for providing lurker over here with some amazing advice. Just my two cents! Adios.
Sorry to hear that it didn't work out for you.
How much are you selling it for?

Believe me, you ARE incredibly unlucky. Most people agree this is the best WP7 out there and it's running very smoothly.

Yeah it sucks that ive had zero luck with it. On a brighter note, im finally investing in an HD2 purely so I can get back to tinkering...so I might end up back with WP7, albeit in a modded form!
Ive listed it for £300 GBP. Its a bit less than what most people are selling them for however I want to sell quickly in order to get another phone. Im currently using a ghetto as all hell nokia and it pains me to use it :/

Sorry, but see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=929460
The unresponsive issue is something people are confused about and think it's a handset problem. It's not, it's not responsive for a reason and that's when the sensor is covered! See the thread.
As for the other issues, I agree, that's crap luck by the sounds of it.
And dude, I agree with the poor effort from Microsoft regarding updates and copy and paste. I mean it's like they have ignored the competition and the things people really need on their devices. Copy and paste shouldn't be an update, it should of been there in the first place!
But with time, I believe WP7 will stand strong.
Please see attachment, it is a screenshot similar to the problem I have.
A part of the screen is not touch-respondsive. It only happened recently, never had this problem before.
Possible to fix? I have trouble unlocking the 9 dots pattern everytime I turn on the phone because of this problem.
Please help, thanks.
Never mind, flashed a different kernal and its working now.
edit: Wait, no it's still there.
update: I wiped everything and installed factory 4.2.2 patch (occam-jdq39-factory-345dc199.tgz) but still cannot fix this problem. Please help!
update: Tried this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2027476 still not working :crying:
update: This also not working for me http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2163924... possible hardware issue?
verdict: I will live with this for now, after 1 day and still can't fix it then I will contact google hopefully for a replacement.
bump
I am having the exact same issue. That almost makes me think it could be a software issue but you said you already did a factory reset.
The weird thing is that it looks like the same part of the screen. Its a horizontal section in the very middle.
My best conclusions are that its the digitizer. It just started happening out of no where though. Very frustrating. Makes it impossible to hit the send button on the stock messaging app without minimizing the keyboard! I take excellent care of my Nexus 4. It has a case and it hasn't been dropped. It hardly has a scratch on it! Its a month old.

Strongertyer I can feel your frustration.
Here's mine (the one in my op was found from google). Mine is a bit lower, it blocks the top half of the qwer line on the keyboard and the yes/no buttons on prompt windows.
I can still type qwer just fine by pressing the bottom half of the keys, but for the the prompts I have to tilt and rotate the screen every time so the buttons aren't under the "dead zone".
Strongtyer are you also thinking of sending the phone back to Google?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Just talked to support and they seemed helpful. However, his first suggestion was to do a factory reset of course. He said if that didn't work then I could send my phone back for a replacement. Did a factory reset and still the same issue. Looks like I'll be calling again tomorrow.
I guess the plus side is that they send brand new phones and not just refurbished ones.
Any luck on your end?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I gave up fixing it already as you can see in my 2nd post and I believe it is not possible to fix it other than having the whole screen replaced, so I asked directly for a replacement under warranty. Then after a brief moment google emailed me a set of instructions for packing the phone.
So on Sunday evening I booked the courier, printed the documents, picked everything back in the box, warped and taped it. And today the courier came and collected my phone.
Now I have to use my good old HTC Legend again. However it uses regular SIM card, so I had a bit of fun making myself an adapter to up size the Nexus 4's micro-sim!
I talked to Google today and they are sending me a replacement. They told me I can keep the phone till the new one arrives. I just have to return it within 21 days.
Just crossing my fingers that they don't say the damage is my fault. I don't know how o could have caused it. I haven't does it and I take really good care of it.

You should contact google anyway if you want a warranty replacement. Go to the link below, click contact google, answer a few check box questions and there should be a phone number.

Because I believe that the only way to fix this is to have the screen replaced.
Have the same problem here. I have the phone for 1 month now.
I live in the Netherlands and the nexus 4 did not get official release here. Should I still contact Google?
Could it be this problem only happens with the newer phone's? I have the one with the little feet on the back. Version 605 I thought. What version do you guys have?
Also should I unroot and lock the boot loader when I send it in for repair ?even though the problem has nothing to do with it.
Sorry for the poor English...

Welcome to xda-developers. Your English is fine.
You should contact Google.
Interesting that you mention the newer version of the phone -- I'd be interested in knowing if this is in fact a result of a newer manufacturing process, different materials, or maybe the place of manufacture (Korea or China). The place of manufacture can be identified by the letter in the fourth position of the serial number found on the box.
can someone update us on this issue? I have the same problem and i am so sad! I saved up 8 months to get this phone!

well, its certainly a hardware issue.
Digitizer, for what I know.
But no easy solution.
Would have happened due to the faulty charger.
But google is not helping!
I have the same exact issue. Playing PVZ2 is now extra difficult because of this issue.
Is there any other fix other than an RMA (currently not in the US)? :crying:

I have this same screen issue. Mine is is first row from top which makes it very frustrating. I am on 4.4.2 and still have this issue.
Can you describe what you've tried in more detail?
I have the same problem but mine is like 2 inches from the bottom of the screen. I can use the softkeys in portrait but they are unusable in landscape. I have had the phone since Nov 12 so sadly my phone is now out of warranty. LG's approved repair centre want £95 for a new screen. I am thinking maybe buy a Nexus 5 and trade this in for £70. I could sell it for like £130 but I would feel bad selling a phone I know the screen is on its last legs.

Considering he doesn't get all the crap people have got, like (bloody) bleeding screens, unnecessary multitouches, non-resurrectible pixels, some kind of magic batteries which stay at 100% until they die...
That would really be great if those issues would not have been there in the first place.

Stock stuck at boot
I've had this issue since day one (when I picked it up on the 27th). It seemed that the device would just get stuck at the boot screen (X logo) and not do anything. I did fastboot unlock, which automatically initiates a reset of the system. Even through that, it didn't work. Is anyone else facing issues with stock? And any suggestions other than keep resetting?

What method did you use to root it? I had a similar issue but it was resolved by holding the volume up, volume down and power button to start the tablet up. after that I was able to restart it and have it work perfectly.(I was rooting with the nexus root toolkit)

I'm writing this post to bring your attention to the latest display problem on nothing phone 1 after the latest software update ( nothing os 1.1.3 ). Unlike earlier nothing phone 1 green tint display issue, now I'm facing nothing phone 1 backlight bleeding at low brightness when using dark mode.
Nothing phone 1 display test shows how the screen occasionally turn grey before becoming complete black ( see the video attached below ).
This nothing phone 1 problem was not present till the latest software update. The point to note is that the phone that I'm using does not have the nothing phone green tint problem so I'm pretty sure that the new problem on nothing phone that I'm facing is a software problem.
Please check your nothing phones for this grey screen problem and if you're yet to do the latest nothing phone 1 update, then wait for some time as I'm unsure on how nothing phone 1 after update would work out.

I personally thing its a decent phone (NP1) I'm not a fan of the LEDs myself and will fully skin wrap the rear if and when I get this device.
Nothing gave this device all the hype about the LEDs looks and forgot about the main thing, the over-all functionality of the NP1.

Please go through and follow the forum rules.
As various people have pointed out, please contact Nothing Support or Flipkart for replacement as its a hardware issue and the users here have already confirmed that they do not have or cant replicate such an issue.
Also if anyone has an issue with a post, please feel free to report the same and the moderation team will take care of it instead of posting offtopic.
Thank you for your understanding,
