Hi
For the beginning i want to say thx to the people who will try help me.
Samsung Note 3 SM-9005
Rom: NB3 4.4.2 (kitkat)
I should post it as a reply to the chainfire's post on cf auto root but i can't cause i am a new on xda (and he didn't allow me )
So what is my problem ?
When i tried root with CF all is ok but when odin say 'PASS' there is no recovery boot (the install process, the red android logo)
What i have ? > After my flash my phone try to boot (with Se Enforcing + 2 other stuff blue red and yellow i guess) but my phone can't boot (yes even boot) he only reset and try re-booting.
chainfire's say
*NOTE: Sometimes the device does *not* boot into recovery mode and root your device. Just do the entire procedure again if this happens. If it still will not install root and such, make sure that in Odin "Auto Reboot" is not checked. Then after flashing, pull the battery, and boot with VolUp+Home+Power button to boot into recovery manually. This will start the install process.*

So i tried it, i unchecked the auto-boot, flash my phone pull the battery and press the button (without the battery), and after my phone turn off.
When i turn on >> same issue boot loop all time
And to have access on the phone i must go on the downlaod mode and click restard phone...
Well if u could help me .... 90% of my app require root x)
Is this the file you used? There's 2 files, one for 4.4 and the other for 4.3. Try flashing the file again.
Yes i used this file
i forgot to say that kingo root is so buged i mean i try also to root with him (on 1s)
He put my phone on download, install the recovery ect
Result: a fake root, in fact even if i have SuperSU (he installed) He said me that i have no binnary installed
I also checked on "Root Checked" no root here
BUT on download mode: custom os + custom binnary
And his chinese recovery work
1 hour ago i used my GN2 to see if maybe it's my computed who have issue with kingo root
Result: Root perfectly my phone
I also forgot to say that i used different odin (1.85,3.09 ect) on admin
And i tried the NA6's rom (maybe was the rom ^^' but nop still no root)

I re-read your reply and I'm a little confused. Did you pressed all buttons after removing the battery? Also, there is no restart phone in download mode, you can only get out of download mode by pressing power button for a few seconds or remove the battery.
Lastly, maybe check you have the correct samsung usb drivers and reactivation lock is off.

Well i know but i didn't even really understand the process to manually boot the recovery (the chainfire's quote)
what i did ? i flash my phone when odin say "reset" i just pull the battery on the table and next press buttons (Volup+home+power)
My phone turn off i replace the battery and i get the booting loop
Maybe my way to process is wrong, i don't even know chainfire don't really explain in details the way to do it....
For the driver i deleted all and re-installed by kingo but in fact all time my device is detected (in all mode) and COM if alway here (also the flash is correct)
I think maybe my process is badly done (maybe i can't understand cause im french)
Here's how I would normally do it.
- download the file and extract to a folder/location of choice
- put phone in download mode by pressing power + vol down + home button all at the same time until something comes up on the screen then let go of the buttons then press vol up then connect to usb on pc
- go to where you extracted the downloaded file, open odin and put the tar.md5 file in the PDA slot and click start
Odin will flash file and automatically restart to apply root ( red android with red letters ) then restart again to android.
OMG dude that work thx to you :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
Ok the last post i mean i didn't understand the process of the boot recovery manually (with autoboot unchecked)
But i least this time i used a different thing- what ?- A nokia usb cable
And this time that work and im sure before i did all u said to me.
I worked on 2 night x)x)
Anyway dude thx to help me
No problem.
Enjoy your phone :good:

Soft bricking often happens in when you try to install a ROM which is not optimized for your phone e.g:Installing i9100 SII ROM on your i9001.
Here is a basic tutorial on how to unbrick a i9001.
Requirements:
For unbricking your phone you are going to need these:
1.An official Samsung firmware
2.ODIN downloader
3.AriesVE.ops for ODIN usage.
4.USB cable
5.Samsung KIES drivers installed
6.Patience!!!
OK.first of all you need to check things above and make sure you have them all.
Fortunately when your phone is soft bricked(when soft bricked your phone doesn't boot into the OS And instead of that you'll see picture of a phone connected to a computer and on the connection line there's a warning sign) can get yo the download mode. So first get your phone in download mode by pressing this button combination: volume down+ home key+ power button
So then get set to use ODIN.
Connect your phone to the PC and make sure you have installed drivers and also killed every KIES process.(If you have done well till now you can see one black gets yellow and in Terminal you'll see 2 lines "detected","added") So start ODIN and place AriesVE.ops as the ops file then use your official firmware (extension should be like this |..... .tar.md5|).To get your firmware working tick "one package" and place you "MD5" file in "one package" location. Then after MD5 checking start the process and go grab a beer.
Wait about 7 to 10 minutes to see PASS on the block.
Then your phone would automatically reboot into your android OS. Then you can start rooting, Tweaking and other stuff again.
At least one you have your phone and your warranty back.
FAQs:
1.my phone gets stuck at setup connection. what should I do?
Chill out! Don't panic! Simply remove your battery for 10 seconds then do these things all again and proceed!
2.my phone boot loops what do I do?
Simply reboot your phone in the Recovery mode "volume down+ power" and wipe cache/dalvik cache if you can.
(Once I installed FOTA from stock recovery and that worked for me)(I suggest you install the official TWRP recovery from SDcard to have more options)
3.you tell me your questions!I'll edit the topic later!
At last feel free to ask any dumb question. Dumb questions are muck more valuable than dumb mistakes!
Please hit thanks button if I helped you out!

My samsung galaxy s4 (GT-I9500) does not go past the samsong logo with the i9500 and the samsong name.
I put a new simcard in my phone, and after my phone started it asked me to update the phone to a new release. I obviusly clicked OK.
my phone started updating, just like it normally updates, but this time the screen goes black in the middle of the update. I turn on my phone, and it starts installing, then suddenly it turns off again.
when i turn it on it loads the first boot logo, then i get a black screen like the phone was never on.
i tried everything:
battery of and on
wipe data/factory reset (from - volume up, home button, and power button)
wipe cache partition
and apply update from cache has an empty recovery folder.
i tried to boot in safe mode.
and nothing worked
I want to reinstall jellybean(or any os that works) on the phone, but since i can go to settings and allow usb debbuging, my computer does not recognize it even when it is on doenloading mode (volume down, home, and power button) from my ubuntu turmenal.
I am willing to root my phone or anything to get it working without paying money.
How do i fix this? please help!

Hi mate ,
Plan A
Go here
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
Download an official stock rom flash with Odin , should be fine , no warranty problem
Plan B
Follow this:

I made that post for Omega rom I9500 but it should be fine for any rom of your choice
Get root method of your choice
Get the recovery of your choice
Follow procedures for above
Pull the externalSD card if you have it , if not buy one , copy into it ( pc or another phone) the custom rom of choice and flash......

You can't just use downloade mode in Ubuntu. You need to download Heimdall to use download mode. You can use this guide for flashin the stock rom.

Hi ,
Plan A
If for flashing stock rom , stock rom can only be flash by Odin
You need to be in download mode ( Turn off the Galaxy S4 and boot it into Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down, Home and Power buttons together. Once you see the Galaxy S4 Logo, release the Power button and continue holding the other two buttons. Click Volume Up to continue into Download Mode), have USB drivers installed in your PC , have the stock rom of choice in your PC ( what version you had before the problem?) and Odin program
See Odin Procedure
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkonj2dICq8
Example of settings when flashing a stock rom

Plan B
No need for debbuging , you have to root ( using Odin) and you have to install a custom recovery ( using Odin) ...then after that you copy in your SDcard ( take SD card out , use your pc or other phone) the custom rom of choice , insert SD card again in your phone , enter recovery , go to the menu , choose install zip from SD card select custom rom and flash.
Either plan A or Plan B you do not have to enter in OS of the phone ( you cant anyway)
Read well all the threads before you do anything , you must be 100% clear , ask all the questions you need BUT read first until you have an idea of what you want to do

Just a sidenote:
You don't need to root if you want to use a custom recovery. You can just flash the recovery and flash the rom you want.
Last week, my yotaphone 2 informed that there is a system update from yotaphone. I downloaded and updated but then my phone cannot work. It show only black start screen with word "Android" until battery empty.
I tried to android recovery mode (hold power and volume up),
it show that the error is "e:cannot load volume /misc!".
And I do not know how to solve that problem.
Please help me!

You can probably recover.
To reflash a full firmware image you could try the relatively user-friendly yotaflasher application and ROM images from here. I haven't used this myself, but it's software by Yota, so should be safe. You can ask it not to touch /data, to preserve apps, settings etc.
A less user friendly way to reflash a full firmware image:
- Download a full firmware image (EU 1.60 flashable version here, let me know if you require a different one)
- With the phone off, press vol down + power until you see "Downloading ...."
- If you can't turn the phone off normally, keep vol down + power for at least 15 seconds till phone reboots, keep holding till you end up with "Downloading ...."
- connect to a PC with adb+fastboot with a USB cable
- You can now boot TWRP image (fastboot boot recovery_twrp_yd201_alpha2.img , see here.
- if you have important files on your phone, you can back them up now by using adb shell/adb pull (e.g. adb pull /sdcard/Pictures/yeti_sighting.jpg)
- In TWRP go to advanced -> sideload and confirm
- now you can sideload a ROM image from the PC with adb sideload <image>.zip, it should show progress while it's uploading the firmware. If it errors, you probably haven't confirmed initiating sideload in previous step.
- wipe cache&dalvik and reboot
thank you, the first way worked and my phone runs normally now.
thank you
Help please

Root the phone using methods written on this forum > download build 1.60 flammable zip > flash that.
If all you want is Google apps then root the phone then download and flash a gapps package. The full Yota build zip is recommended though.
Can't download yotaflasher application from the link... does anybody have the exe file?

Just click on the YotaPhoneFlasher folder then click the file (yotaphone2_flasher.exe), and save to your harddisk.
Or you can try this link straight to the yotaphone2_flasher.exe file.

Dude I've just bought my phone, and it has the same problem. But I'm a complete noob, how did you fix it? Please, i've just bought it.
On RU build 134 when I tried to swap users my user with Defaut user, the phone blocked, the display is on (time is the same when first happend - just a freeze image) but I can't do nothing on phone. Is a way to reset? because on a normal way I would remove battery but yota dont have this option.

The analogue method of pulling out the battery is pressing the POWER button for at least 10 seconds. The phone will reboot.
Thanks, I pushed vol down + Power and the phone restarted normaly.
PS: If you know where to get a book from Алекса́ндр Солжени́цын - Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn to read on yota display, send me.

You need to keep pressing the power up button after the showing of "POWERED BY ANDROID", the power does not need to be pressed after then.
If you can still not reach recovery, you probably have a broken recovery (maybe wrong version) and something else is messed up.
When you flash recovery, you need to instantly go into recovery mode by pressing +/up on calling the according command
(fastboot reboot).
It does not look like you changed file system related things, did you change anything on your system/with root permissions?
Are you sure the installation process went without failure etc?
Getting out the cause (kernel logs etc) would be a bit hard without getting into recovery mode[and maybe also nonworking kernel], like stated out here

Hi all,
I've tried to downgrade my S5 from most recent Kies lolipop to kitkat (G900FxxxANCE from sammobile). After odin pass the phone reboots (at leas it seems so) but does not show up on screen - so screen is black and no chance to do anything - the blued led comes up.
I tried some tutorials without success (last try: remove battery - powerbutton - wait). Do you
a) know whether it is a soft or hard brick?
b) any workaround?
If you answer to this I would be very glad since I'm currently a bit nervous.
Thank you and regards so far.

No, not really. Or I don't really know since the screen doesnt show anything. I've read that the blue led stands for entering download mode.
Well, at least odin recognizes the phone when plugging in while the blue led is on.
If you had a successful odin flash, you should have a recovery.....
You need to (at least) try to get into recovery.....sometimes, in cases like this, wiping cache and factory resetting (maybe a couple of times) is enough to get the phone to reboot......
If it doesn't work, going to download mode and re flashing your LP firmware may be necessary.......

The screen is plain dead. It does not react in any way. When I "start" the phone I don't see anything except the blue led in the upper left corner on the phone itself.
I'm not sure if its booting into recovery (I've read that the blue led stands for recovery mode though).
The only thing I recognize is the successfull connection in Odin but I can't flash again since it hungs in "Connecting..."-state.
Regards.

Remove the battery so you know 100% the phone is off
Replace battery
Press and hold Power Down & Home & Power until it enters download mode
If nothing appears on the screen after a few seconds (Give it about 5+ seconds of holding the buttons down), then it is likely a hardware issue
Possibly the phone itself, but also possible one of those buttons is not working

Thank you. It didn't work in any way. I've tried to connect via ADB and factory reset but I can't establish a ADB connection. I connect the device and windows tells me "Installing drivers" (Drivers are installed) but fails in the end. So I guess this is the fault. Whatever.
I can't tell in which state the phone boots as I only see the blue led (its just turned on - no blinking).

i have had the same problem when i downgrade to kitkat to fix it download a lollipop rom from sammobile then u have to :
-remove battery put it back
-press Home + Power + Volume Down buttons
-screen will be black no problem press up arrow to continue to download mode
-connect phone to usb
-open odin u will see it is connected
-flash lollipop and u will be back
i think it is a restriction for lollipop because u will root the phone on kitkat with tw.apk
if this not will help i have another solution just try it same problem to me and i figured my self to fix the problem
Hi all,
i have the same probleme with my sam G5.
after flashing back the lolipop stock rom 5.0 the phone seems to be working properly except for the screen that shows nothing; windows detects it as MTP device and i can get in and see all the content inside of it, also when i assimilate entering the download mode (volume down + Home + power then after few secondes Vol up) it goes well since odin detects it and flash it (but always there is nothing that shows up on the screen),
any ideas or hints ??
If you want to downgrade to kitkat from lollipop, then flash kitkat modem and bootloader for your device, you can search on the xtrestolite post, the developer put bootloaders and modems for each g900* device for kitkat and lollipop roms.
**Before you comment, all I need are links to guides. You don't have to tell me step for step, I wouldn't do that do ya**
So earlier this week I was tweaking some settings through 3D Toolbox and I managed to essentially kill my phone. Now whenever my phone 'boots' it will show my startup screen with its usual vibration, after which the screen will go blank and it will not boot.
I killed it by enabling kernel exceptions in partition cleaning in the 3D Toolbox app; after I rebooted my device as told, it never booted again. I'm only trying to get my device image off it so I can dump the phone and start again, keep in mind I'm still learning about the operating system so I was bound to break something lol.
I'm worried what I've done has trashed my system image and I've essentially lost what was on my phone (lets hope that isn't the case :crying if anyone knows what I've done wrong and how to fix it please help a brotha out :fingers-crossed: Also when I try to go into recovery mode I'm greeted with "Recovery is not Seandroid Enforcing" if that helps, as I have no idea what it means.
If you want to pull off the data, try installing TWRP, booting into TWRP, mount the data partition, and copy data to your PC.
If you don't need anything on the phone, you could use Odin to flash the latest stock ROM.

Thanks for the reply! But I'm very new to rooting and such and only touch what I know and what I need so I don't know how to go about this. If you could be so kind as to tell me the steps or to give me a guide I'd be on my way.
Thanks,
Jazzy

Alright I've found a TWRP for it, do I download this and load it through ODIN? I'd still need to get a backup of my device before I'd wanna load an image up, so I still need a program to do that. Any suggestions for a program like that?

Again, I have no idea what I'm doing with these, if you have a guide for stuff like this I'm all over that.
Step 2) Turn OFF your mobile and go to Download Mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down + Home Buttons together for few seconds followed by Power button then proceed with volume up.
Step 3) Now open ODIN on your PC and connect your Galaxy Note 3 to your computer.
Step 4) Once your phone is successfully connected to your PC, the ID:COM box on ODIN will turn blue (or yellow) and will show the COM port number.
Step 5) Click on pda in odin (if odin 3.09 choose AP) and choose the " TWRP .tar" file.
Step 6) Tick "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" options and make sure that "Re-Partition" is unchecked
!!!!DO NOT CHECK "Nand Erase All" IN ANY WAY!!!!
Step 7) Click on Start button in ODIN window to start the flashing process. The process will take few minutes to complete.
DO NOT UNPLUG USB CABLE WHILE EXECUTING THE PROCESS, YOU MAY BRICK YOUR PHONE!
Step 8) When the installation is completed, you read a "Reset " then a "Pass". your phone will restart

Burn it
Joking... So follow all the steps written by JJEgan, except for Step 6 : DON'T tick "Auto reboot" then flash.
Step 7 : When Odin shows "Passed", unplug the phone and take off the battery for 10sec.
Step 8 : Put the battery back and directly boot to recovery (Vol+, Power, Home).

Try again but only check f reset time and flash.
When you see the word "RESET" in the status window, remove the USB cable from the phone, remove the battery, replace the battery, use the buttons to boot into recovery.
