[APP] Flashcards App - Nexus 5 Themes and Apps

Hi all, I just released my first android app, so i'd love some feedback! It's 100% Free, no Ads. I modeled the UI after hangouts/Cards UI and has KitKat's Immersive mode.

Bugs/Feature requests/comments would greatly be appreciated!

That looks well sweet, just what i was looking for, nice clean interface and a choice of views.

Great Android App UI Design Examples

Hi guys,
I thought it would be useful to have a thread where we can post examples of great UI Designs in Android Apps, for reference when developing apps.
Personally I think one of the better UI designs is the official twitter app.
Anyone else care to share some examples?

I wonder what the twitter app will look like after the twitter redesign was launched.

Eh, the layout is good but the whole red, black, and white embossed color scheme just doesn't suit me well. I can't quite remember the name of the app, but it was a sort of all in one note taking application, like it stored numbers, locations, notes, etc.. I'll try to dig up the name, because it had a very nice looking UI.
Need UI help?
If anyone needs UI design help please let me know, I'd love to help you! (Usually free as long as I get a little credit in the about )

Looks interesting, thanks for the links. Androids one strength definitely is the ability to modify it to look and behave exactly as any individual personally wants it to.
Duplicate thread? One already exists for the best launchers
Though they do look nice.
Theylook interesting but none of them mention, changing icons thats a must for me and my launcher of choice!
They both look great. Thanks!

Go Launcher! Go!
go launcher ex is my personal choice, been using it when was on the hd2
The TSF looks really fluid im wondering if the locked the governor into performance mode for that clip.
I like LauncherPro

I am a big fan of Go and ADW, but I will ditch them in a split second if TSF Shell Pro runs that well on the note.
I'm not sure about these launchers. It's amazing to see the youtube clips but I've got the feeling that with so many bells and whistles they may be limiting in a way. It can be difficult to find matching widgets and icons so you may end up kinda stuck with what you got out of the box.
My personal preference is a launcher that's simple, "transparent", highly customizable and with really good performance.

Chameleon Launcher thoughts??

I just install ed this wonderful launcher from the play store ...
So far so good. Was just wandering if anyone else had tried it/customised it/hacked it? I was all about ready to start trying to build my own html built ui launcher for android when I stumbled on it! Cheers guys saved me a whole lot of work
Has anyone used it? Any tips ? Anyone know where I can find the main files for it? I want to customize it as much as possible and have email the dev team in the hopes that theyre a friendly bunch.
I personally wouldn't pay ten dollars for a launcher but that's me. I looked at it and it seems really cool, I almost wish there was a trail version or lite. As for the main files, you would have to google for them, since it is not a free app. Titanium backup should works to extract the apk.
A lite version would be very adventageous. I have emailed the support team at Chameleon and posted in all the right places on their forum, but unfortunately its no xda. No response so far and its going on 4 days now. The idea behind it is a very good one, but it needs more support and active members. Fingers crossed answers will be here shortly as I am loosing patience with them and am seeking alternative launchers. Anyone know any good ones? Theres is nothing wrong with the default one i use but i like to customise as much as i can so need something a little more special
I've been pretty happy with Go Launcher EX. Not so much in the way of fancy widgets, but nice home screen transitions, customizable quick launch area, very flexible.
I installed Chameleon. It looks really nice, but super laggy. Also, they need more widgets.

Go launcher HD is better for tablets. I had it but I am back to the launcher that comes with CM10

How ugly do phone apps look?

Can someone please post screen shots of non native tablet apps on the N10?
(Phone apps on the N10)
Also could you post screens shots of the Web browser in portrait and landscape.
Thank you.
Speedtest's app is a great example of a horrible looking phone app (tablet isn't nearby or I'd upload a screenshot). I mean it looks good and works, but it doesn't scale, at all. On the other hand, it isn't blown up like Google's Translate app. Not sure which I prefer

I have only had my N10 for less than a week, but for the most part, have been plesantly surprised how well the device scales almost any app. I was expecting ugly jaggies icons but that did not happen. Even scalling transcoded (640x360) videos look good. Of course HD videos (720p, 1080p) look fantastic.
There are exceptions to the rule but for me this is a non-issue.
You can also replace the ugliest icons with higher quality ones using one of the many customization apps on the Play store (e.g. "Icon Changer"). If you want to go extreme use one of the many custom roms that support theming and apply a theme with high quality icons and you will not be disappointed.
For just one example among many, I use the CM 10.1 based, Sintinel ROM 4.0 and installed "Theme Chooser Themes" from the Playstore. Then used "Theme Chooser Themes" to peruse many themes eventually picking "Crystal 2" to download and install. The process was quick and easy.
"Theme Chooser Themes" specifically supports CM10 and AOKP based custom ROMs. You need to be unlocked and rooted to install a custom ROM. If you want to stay stock then there are many customization/theming apps on the play store some of which can be used without rooting.
I hope this info helps.
I think apps only look bad when they won't work in landscape mode.
That is my criteria for accepting an app

Got any screenshots?

For those of you who like to draw with your tablet

I hadnt really found an app that allowed really good touch control with the pen.
One of my favourite drawing & animation apps is now in Beta (free) for android tablets.
Its Called TVPaint.
You can get the beta here:

Worth a look in my humble opinion.
